I just installed the new version of qzem's GingerICE and I every time I try to swith on my Wi-Fi, it doesen't start, it just says 'Error'. Maybe it's because the new version is using another kernel?
I already tried to format everything and flashing the rom again, nothing helped.
Did you restore ur app using titanium bckup.?
sent from another space
no, just from the beginning, just after the setting up.
that's weird tho..from what I know this wifi issue happen when u do some data restore using titanium b...
But u say u don't restore data+app or anything fromTB rite?if that so,I can't help,but i'm sure other member can help u out..
gud luck.
hoppfully, 'cause when the new kernel is the problem, I'll be not the only one.
but thanks for answering so fast!
try to install another rom just to check it out
I did, just restored v1 of GingerICE and Wi-Fi works like a charm, so ist must be a problem caused by v2 of GingerICE..

Perhaps for you but I can report that V2 wifi works fine for me. Did you clear everything first before installing V2?
sure, but I just installed v 2.1 of GingerICE, everything is working. but thanks for your reply
If i'm not mistaken, the kernel in that rom is the same with Cowithgun's Cow In Black ROM, thus, if there is a wifi error, download this, and then
"4) Copy dhd.ko to /system/etc/wifi/ via Root Explorer"
it should work now
*took it straight from here
sorry man, forgot to delete this thread since it works for me, but thank you guys for helping me

NOTE: There have been reports that this does not work on 4G devices either. Do a nandroid and take care.
Straight off the 4G Xoom devices this morning (Thanks to AceXMachine for grabbing the images for me), I present to you the 3.2.2 Stock + Rooted rom!!!
I haven't had a chance to figure out what is actually different yet with 3.2.2.
NOTE: This can be flashed on any device, however the 3g/4g network connectivity will ONLY work on the 4G xooms. Everyone else will be on wifi.
And yes, this comes pre-rooted.
Instructions:
Download the rom
Place it on the sdcard
Reboot into recovery
Make a nandroid
Perform a factory reset (wipe data+cache)
Install the zip file.
Downloads:
Android-HC-3.2.2-Stock+Rooted-1.1-SOLARNZ.zip
MD5Sum: 2f3aebf57c1d1676ee97d4f8365d3018
Changes in 1.1:
Fixed the updater-script. It shouldn't boot loop anymore.
Mine...
Awesome, downloading now!
I can still use a different kernel like launchpad with this right?
Nice! Thank you!

Ooh, I wonder what's new? Probably some stuff with the new 4G capability. Let us know if there's more to it than that. Hopefully some bug fixes.
Does this ROM have the ad-hoc driver built in?

no.
This is a purely stock & rooted rom.

So I wasn't able to use the launchpad kernel for some reason after flashing this rom, but I was able to flash the tachi kernel. Running 3.2.2 and overclocked, ohhh yeah!
I installed this per instructions and everything seemed to apply fine, but when reactivating the device it hung at searching for service. I cancelled and did a WIFI setup which went fine.
Anybody else have problems with 3G working after applying this?
All went well for me. Thanks

Flashed back to stock and relocked, updated to 3.2, rerooted and installed recovery.
Flashed clean, I didnt allow it to finish the first time, got impatient, but noticed DDMS reported it as 3.2.2 so I reflashed it with a bit more time to think.
After successful boot flashed Tachi OC and restored everything else from there.
Great base, and thank you
Hey solarnz I followed the instructions and checked the md5 and Im stuck in a boot loop. Maybe a bad flash? I'll try flashing again.
UPDATE: Same deal. Boot loop for me. Looks like I'm going to have to restore back to stock
Try going all the way back and then forwards, sometimes a good wipe works kinda like an enema for your device
Luckily I have a nandroid cause I can't even get into fast boot! For some reason, it froze when I tried to at the "Entering fast boot .." with the moto logo
Stuck at dual core logo on a wifi xoom, any idea what went wrong?
md5 checksum on downloaded zip file on microsd card is correct.
rebooted into recovery and reflashed twice, same result.

Thats two of us so far. Until solarnz chimes in, WiFi xoomers beware. If you're still game be sure to make a nandroid backup.
Which languages are included? Or is it only the english version?
I have a rooted Spice Mi-310 with Android 2.2 and I had market compaitibliy problems and for that I have done everything like changing build.prop, trying some apps like modder pro and etc.
All were failed then I talked to my friend about this and he said that you should upgrade your OS. So I thought downloading custom ROMs from ROM Manager from ClockworkMod will help and there I tried to backup my cuerrent ROM but my ROM was not in the list so I tried backing up or flashing up Google Nexus S ROM because I thought that I have changed my build.prop to Nexus S so this will work and it worked too.
And now my Camera is not working it is showing that "Cannot Connect to Camera" and now the battery is also not working properly.
Then I wanted to reset my Factory and now that also not working.....
Please help me. Helpers will be GREATLY APPRICIATED BY THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
if you can enter in clockwork mod then you can wipe data and cache...its problem with the rom that it doesnt support your hardware.....
you can get the stock rom service from spice website i think
Will it work after Uninstaling?

Hello everyone,
After trying to install JellyBAM v7.0.0, my phone would not boot. This was extremely frustrating, as jellybam is one of my favorite ROMS. The issue was with the kernel that came in the zip with the ROM.
This issue can be fixed one of two ways:
1. Dirty flash from v6.7.0
Have v6.7.0 already installed
-Wipe Cache
-Wipe Dalvik
Install from zip v7.0.0
2. Clean flash with different kernel
-Wipe Data
-Wipe Cache
-Wipe Dalvik
-Format System
-Install from zip v7.0.0
-Install your favorite kernel
I am currently running BMS kernel and it is working fine, but any kernel for 4.2.2 will do
Enjoy!
bump
Pretty sure jellybam ROMs are banned...

This didn't work for me. What worked was restoring just the BOOT from my previous 6.7.0. install (via advanced restore from CWM). Thanks though,

The only thing that wouldve changed it from the previous boot.img is the kernel
Maybe they changed the kernel between versions and it got messed up on v7

You are correct. Its not that people are needing to redownload or something, the kernel that comes with the ROM is just broken. The dirty flash will keep the kernel from 6.7 and the clean flash with a seperate kernel will both solve this issue.
I'm on us cellular S3 I can't find 6.70 for my phone, I couldn't get it to even start flashing the zip. So option number 2 is not an option Lol

I know, I was just posting that for his/her benefit because he/she seemed to have misunderstood it
I used the dirty flash version and it worked perfectly. Only one problem. It started out with my WiFi working. Then it stopped. I am in a place with free WiFi and i can not even turn WiFi on. Am i doing something wrong or is there an easy fix? I do appreciate everything that is shared here. Also thanks for the fix to get JellyBam 7.0 to work.
I am on a Galaxy S3 i747 AT&T phone.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

I tried the clean flash and didn't have any luck. I'm not quite sure about the whole "kernel" thing. I don't know where to go for kernels or how to pick one.
OK, and again thank you for your time and info on this thread. I did the clean flash and used the kernel that the person starting the thread spoke about. The 3252013 kernel 3.0 worked and WiFi is on and working. So far this seems to be the winner. I didn't have success with 3.4, just so others reading know.
Thanks again.
The 3.4 kernels are still being debugged and tested IIRC
I'm using TWRP and can't seem to flash the .zip.
Anyone using TWRP with success?
Update: Was able to flash latest 7.1.
An issue I've been noticing with ROMs including PA, is that animations are very choppy.
Anyone else notice this?
Jellybam roms are banned from XDA for using other people's work without giving credit or getting permission from other developers. Also the reason the v7 flash doesn't work is because the developer forgot to include a kernel in the zip you need to pull one from another thread and place it in the zip. Also might need the meta folder from a cm Rom, can't really remember

There's a new release that works.
Running AOKP KK 4.4.2, I made a full backup of my system using CWM Recovery 6.0.4.7. I reinstalled stock ROM 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.2.67 to check for upgrades. (Sony removed all 4.3 upgrades for the C6506.
After that, I reflashed the boot.img, and restored my backup. On boot, the cell signal was "No Service". Looking at status, no Baseband, No IMEI, and no service.
Only way around it was to restore the stock ROM and then do a clean install of AOKP. I have been unable to restore a CWM backup.
I had my charger plugged in during both backup and restore. While I did read there was a bug with CWM and chargers, before I try this again, does anyone here have a suggestion or workaround? Be a shame not to be able to use Backup/Restore.
Thank you.
I have same issue after restoring back obtained by CWM for AOKP ROM 4.4 kitkat network is lost......best way is to restore the backup first and get all the data and apps in place .....................
And then dirty flash the AOKP ROM zip and gapps you will get the network back.
This will get you all your apps and data back ...some of the data is lost like progress in temple run so also back up all apps and data by Titanium backup. Apps can also be restored with data if something is missing.

Seems awful kludgy. I am glad to know there is a problem, but this workaround is good to know. I still think the bug portends something more serious. For example, I lose my home screen settings (I only backup user apps). Oh well.
Thanks and keep posted if you learn more.
So, which baseband worked fine, and what do you currently have installed on your phone?
Btw, you you can flash the baseband only part of the ftf...
And I hate that my 6506 reports that it's a 6503... I should do something about that.

Sony only publishes open source AOSP for the 6XX3 models. The 6502, 6503, and 6506 have identical hardware except for radio frequencies supported. So any AOSP flavor will cause slight loss of functionality in terms of frequencies covered.
I tried reflashing just the baseband after this issue. It did not help. For me (although I did not try the dirty flashing method yet), the only thing that worked was to reinstall clean AOKP on top of clean Sony Firmware. Anything with a backup and restore resulted in no baseband/IMEI.
When I do a restore I always do a full wipe first, then install system (+ gapps if wanted), then restore data only. Maybe this would work?!
THAT is a good suggestion

Kudos for your suggestion. I went from stock --> unloick bootloader --> install boot.img --> install custom ROM zips and Gapps --> restore DATA only using CWM Recovery. On first boot, everything is fine. Baseband, IMEI shows fine.
Thank you again. this is a terrific solution and should be pinned. (@MOD). Cheers.:cyclops:
