[Q] Warning Sign in Messages - What Is It? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello
I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and have noticed a warning sign appear in my messages.
Does anyone know what it means or how to get rid of it?

Anytime I have had a warning sign it was due to a failed sent message. That is in Handcent messaging though, not to sure about stock.

Means the same thing in stock messenger. A message failed to send.

As has been said it's a failed message, it should disappear on it's own when it auto sends the message when it gets signal again. If it doesn't, you can always go into the thread and just delete the message and try again.

Thanks.
I'll take a look. It may take a while though but I guess I could just wait until the thread gets round to auto deleting it.

This.
And you can resend the message by clicking on the warning icon. It will automatically enter the failed text into the text entry box allowing you to send it again.

Message alert, still there!

I assume others are having this problem but not seen much posted about it
other then some people using other message alerts.
But basically, i get a text, i click on the message thing, reply to the text, but in the top corner the message sign is still there, and the led still flashes.
Its a little bug but rather anoying.
Any fixes?
Im not using any message alert things, just the normal pre loaded one.
I've had it a few times, normally when I'm in the sms app anyway and get sent another. Only way to clear it I've found is to send myself a message then read & delete it
I find a faster way is to quickly delete the messages icon and put back on your desktop.
Yer, glad im not only one with this problem, more of a annoying then a flaw i think

[Q] Hanging message - how to get rid of it

Hi,
I have a problem with an sms hanging somewhere in the system but invisible in messaging. It happened when a message arrived during messaging freeze (sometimes happens but that's another story). Now I have a new message notification (green "1" mark in manilla) but the unread message can't be seen in messaging, so I can't delete it. When I delete any other message the notif. disappears but when another message arrives it appears again.
Is there a way to get rid of it? Maybe go to some database where the message probably is and delete it?
Thanks for any help.
btw. Multiple soft reset did not help.
I found the appropriate database with pocket mechanic but there is no message that I wouldn't see in messaging. So where the heck is the notification coming from?
Thanks.

"Hidden Sender Address" notification will not go away

I keep getting a notification from all the different SMS apps I have tried that is called "Hidden Sender Address". When you click on it, it takes you to the app but not to a message. Chomp SMS indicates it is an MMS message. I cant find any unread message in the stock app or any aftermarket ones.
Regardless, I cant find it to delete and it wont stop showing up in the notification bar. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?

OP, have you been able to fix this issue? I just received the update to Jellybean and am currently suffering from the same issue. I have tried deleting all messages and clearing the app cache but haven't been able to get rid of this notification.
I'm actually receiving the same false notification and it started today for no reason other than opening an mms. On galaxy s3 CM10 preview
Nope...havent found an official fix. If I use Chomp, it doesnt appear. GO and Handcent and it shows back up anytime I receive a new message.

If you're using a 3rd party messenging app, disable the auto-retrive MMS. Go to Stock messenger and enable auto-retrieve MMS.
I use Chomp and this fixed the problem for me. Hope it helps.

Yes this is how I got around it but I couldnt find the options in Go or Handcent to disable MMS retrieval. So I am stuck with Chomp which is not the best of the three IMO.
Just started getting this today as well on GO SMS. Easiest fix- Option key, More, Mark All Read. Cleared them out for me and the notifications thay wouldn't go away are gone.

In handcent you can go to "receiving message settings" and disable auto retrieve. My sister uses handcent and hasn't received any MMS problems since.
Hey guys. I had this pop up last night after receiving 2 MMS in a row. Setting the auto retrieve off did not fix it but "mark all read" did. Just to let you all know.
I am on Motorola Atrix CM10 4.1.1 using Handcent
I believe there is a feature to mark certain contacts/conversions as secret. That I'd what that notification is. Look in your settings for something that refers to that. Those messages don't go to inbox but separate folder. Think you might have to password them to access.

I think what you are talking about is the private inbox. Those still come up and go away just like normal text messages except they bounce to the private box. That is not what we are talking about here though

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I have a Galaxy S III and started getting this as soon as I got 4.1 on my phone, drove me nuts. Just googled hidden sender address and found this thread.
Hidden Sender Address notification !!!FIX!!!
I was having this problem the other day after installing a jellybean messaging app. It worked fine for a day or so then I started getting "Hidden Sender Address" all the time and then wasn't even able to delete my texts. I would delete the entire conversation and it would still show that there was a conversation there, but it was all empty.
I contacted at&t to see if they had any ideas and the only thing they could come up with was factory reset. Screw that I knew there had to be another way. I'll never trust them completely!
I contacted the creator of the app and this is what he had me do and it did work:
If you have root you can clear the DB by deleting this file (apparently):
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Of course that will delete all your SMS and MMSs, but you can
(hopefully) back them up to gmail and restore them afterwards using
SMS Backup+.

Why cant he just update the app to fix this issue?
Any news on this fix by the developer?
FIX!!!!
OK Everyone. I have resolved this issue on my Galaxy SIII and your are more than welcome to replicate this but beware, you may lose your SMS history.
First you can either delete all SMS. I didn't want to do this for obvious reasons.
Second, scroll all the way to the bottom of all your SMS. If like me you have oodles of them this might be annoying and take a while. At the bottom I found a sender called 'ANONYMOUS'!!!! Sounds ominous doesn't it.
I deleted this thread and since then I have nto had this message appear. ALTHOUGH.... i lost all my SMS as a result.... LOL whoops. bug time!
Please note. I also disabled auto download MMS, cleared badgeholder cache (which temporarily works), readded SMS icon and disabled google hangout from picking up SMS and neither of these permanently resolved the issue but feel free to try these first as you probably should do as they are non destructive.

HOX SMS Hangs, Doesn't Send Sometimes

Sometimes when I am sending a text message, I'll compose the message and hit Send. Hours later, I will come back and the phone is still trying to send the message. I'm not talking about a failed sending of the message, the phone is still trying to send the message. The circle just spins and spins.
If I delete and re-send the message, or send another message, it usually fixes the problem. Restarting the phone flushes all of these hanging messages out and successfully send them.
My wife has the same phone (different color), with the same software, stock and root, and hers does this as well. We have both tried several text message apps, and they all do this.
Any idea as to what could be causing this or how I might fix this?
Thanks much!

Receiving Text messages on time

I am having a delay in receiving text messages even after altering the bat saver settings for the messaging app to run in the background.
So I send myself a text from another phone and I get no message.
Then I open messages and still no text.
Then I send a message out and all the messages I have been waiting one appear.
Can someone please help me on how to fix this issue?

It's like the push notification isn't activated until a long time or after I send a message. Also when I do send the message to trigger the receiving of messages there is a slight pause that says sending on the outgoing message.

Sorry, I’m interested in buying this phone and I was just stopping by to see what folks had to say about your issue. Could you tell me did you ever figure out what your issue is?
Never experienced such an issue with mine...
I get SMS messages pretty fast after they have been sent (for instance verification codes and so on)
Myne is an EU version if that makes any difference...
