Is this the Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch section of the forums?

Just asking cause I flashed the starburst rom and it boot looped my phone. I got into the main screen once but, the task bar kept force closing and it kept boot looping... Any help would be great.

Yes this is the Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch section.
Did you make a nandroid backup 1st? (If Yes, restore your backup) Did you go into "mounts and storage" and format "/system" before you wiped data/cache/dalvik cache?

Odin another rom.
Search for and download odin v1.85. Then download a .tar file. Where ever you find these items, you'll also find good instructions.
Then try flashing starburst again.

Yes, I did make a nand and got back to it, the starburst rom section told me to flash through cwm. But, it didn't work. I odined a tar last night, I'm fine now, but, how should I go about flashing again? Yes, I did wipe.
I'm running the oc'd zedomax or however thats spelled.

Did you format /system prior to flashing Starburst? That'll cause bootloops if you failed to do so.

I would suggest 5.0.2.3, or 5.0.2.6 Also...make sure you format cache/dalvik/data/system at least 3X each. If that doesn't work, then try redownloading the ROM. Might've gotten a borked download.

Use this: LoStkernel or this: CWM
But I'm willing to bet that you either didn't format system in the mounts and storage menu or it didn't take when you tried. I would retry StarBurst again first, making sure to Format System Under Mounts and Storage and making sure it succeeds. Then you won't have to worry about any of the other stuff.

I wiped cache and dalvik, but I didn't format them. I also didn't even bother to wipe and it worked just fine.

It's just not working... Idk why, this is the only problem with a phone I've ever had in cwm...

I'm running viperROM v2 and it's pretty sweet. It's a really tough choice between this and starburst.

Hm... I keep getting sms like this after a flash...

my lil brother thought it wud b great if he tried to root my phone...i apologize if in the wrong spot ive been searching forums googling for like 6 hours with no luck. my phone is stuck in the galaxy loading logo screen the one with the yellow triangle i can not get it out using odin kies or notta please help me thanks

Vital? You don't need a super wipe. And you only need the cache wipe if you're using CWM5. If you don't know how to properly wipe..
1. Wipe Factory data reset
2. Wipe cache
3. go into mounts and storage
4. Wipe system
5. Wipe data
6. Wipe cache
7. Go to advanced
8. Wipe dalvik cache
Simple eh? Is this your first device? Super wipe scripts are very uncommon. Better that you learn how to do it the old fashion way for your next handset than rely on a shortcut.
But... if you insist. Google the derek jay source forge. Its in there in dark side tools. There's a reason he discontinued them.

What he said.. I recommend upgrading to the newest cwm or twrp recoveries if you haven't done so yet.. The superwipe scripts are not needed on them

Well I guess the Koodo version of this phone is **** because Ive done a factory wipe twice and wiped the system partition twice then wiped cache and dalvik twice each then flashed PA ROM and CM10 and neither of them will go past bootloop, but hey aokp works fine except for random reboots and rare sod's.
Just saying, I know what Im doing btw guy

Thederekjay has move on, and he has removed the link to his creation "superwipe" ,development of the superwipe is discontinued. If you really need a copy of it, you can PM him (nicely).

I understand that but don't take it so personal.. CWM 6+ is in the development section or flash twrp all your bootloop problems should be gone!

Ive always been a CWM guy.. but TRWPs wipe is much more convenient. All wipe options are on the same screen and they work pretty quick. There's a flashable zip somewhere in the twrp thread. Flashing it through goomanager is a pain. Also how exactly are you wiping? The only way I know to get a boot loop is to wipe your cache and dalvik after flashing the ROM or you're on CWM 5.0.2.7.

I don't trust goo manager for flashing and I also don't trust rom manager.. Flashing with either of them has never worked right for me.. Better to do it in recovery!

I also recommend switching over to TWRP, there is a sticky in the android development section for this phone including a link for download and instructions for flashing it.

Unfortunately cwm restores do not work with twrp.. That may be a deciding factor in which recovery you use..

Kingkang alpha 3

I am having this problem. I just updated to alpha 3 and my screen keeps flashing with fuzzy stuff like you would see on a TV when your on a blank channel. Any one else having this problem?

No, I didnt and by looking at the thread in the development section, no one else has either. I would suggest you start over from EL29 or EL26, from what I have read, it could be a number of things that causes stuff like this, bad DL, wipes not wiping, or dirty flash. Put your steps you did to flash the rom, and someone might be able to get more specific.

Could be hardware. Best is to go back to a stock build and see if it happens. If it does bring the phone into sprint

its not hardware. at least it shouldn't. i had the same problem when i dirty flashed from 2.1. try a clean flash (wipe cahce, dalvik and data)and then flash.

[scripts][Tools] Infamous.Super.Wipe and Infamous.Cache.Wipe for Jelly Bean 4.1.2 TW

Ok guys, these are modded versions of TDJ's tools to add the preload partition. This should allow you to wipe cache and dalvik without jacking up the symlinks. Also for you guys having issues installing a ROM, the superwipe should fix that. First flash the ROM and reboot (important), then if you are having issues flash the super wipe and then the ROM again. Reboot and you should be good.

One is cache/dalvik, superwipe is data/factory reset.

Well before using the scripts ROM would not boot but after super wipe no problems, TWRP 2.5.0.0 :thumbup:

I used these scripts installing a ROM and I am having very serious issues. I was using Clockwork and when I rebooted I got stuck in a boot loop. I booted back into recovery but I was not getting fully back into recovery. I tried several times. I finally ODINed back to stock but I can't get the ****ing phone to boot up. It gets toa popup that says ""unfortunatley google partner setup has stopped" and then if I clear that "Google account manager has stopped", "google calender storage has stopped""unfortuantely the process com. android.phone has stopped". ****. I have tried ODIN to 3.5 stock and 4.0.3 both having similar issues.
Anyone have any idea, may have absolutley nothing to do with these scripts but any ideas would be very much appreciated.

What are you running and what are you trying to flash? Wouldn't be the scripts as they only wipe, format, align the partitions.

I was running CWM 6.0.2.9 touch and trying to flash the StockWalk ROM. I don't know if you have seen something like this before but it seems like I am totally unable to install any GAPPS even when flashing stock ROM in ODIN. I had flashed the same ROM before attempting to use the scripts, the reason was that I was unable to add my google account (may be a defect in the ROM but others are saying they have not had issue).
*when I say install GAPPS I am just refering to the ones that install on TW ROMS, I am not flashing a GAPPS file of any kind

OK so I thought I knew enough to not feel like a noob, but here I am with three questions.
First question is what is a "preload problem"?
Second question is this will only work on 4.1.2, and not 4.2.2 (CM 10.1)?
And the third question is will using the original DS wipes mess something up?

T mobiles 4.1.2 loads a preboot partition. Wiping cache with anything but these scripts also wipes these partitions. This script is modified to not do that. No preboot partition = boot loop.
Thus, if you're on anything BUT Tmobiles 4.1.2 you don't need this script and there's no advantage to using it.

I cannot access the bottom right of my screen where this ')' is. Any fix? It worked before on other roms, clean flash and everything wiped.

But if you don't know how to disable it then chances are its not enabled.

Waited 10 minutes (actually more like 20 minutes) but was stuck in a bootloop. The loading bar almost completely fills in each time (only a small fraction - i.e. about 0.5mm - remains unfilled) before the reboot occurs automatically. I read else where on the SGH-T989 forum of similar problems with 2.0. Someone said that wiping the data caches before AND after flashing the ROM always works for them. I assume they mean format /data cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache after flashing ROM but I'm not sure. Anyone have any experience here?

Thanks. I found the darkside wipe files and downloaded them. Then I read elsewhere that if you have the up-to-date CWM version (6 or later), it will do the same thing accomplished by the darkside wipes. Do you know if this is a fact? Thanks again.

It may work as long as you choose to not wipe the preload. I wouldn't chance it tho...just use jamisons wipes.

tibu stuff is on sd-card u cannot lose it.
darkside super wipe is to clear pre-load cache for roms that built fr stock....
newer versions of cwm will work if not use Jamison's super wipe
