[Q]Question about rooting xperia play

hey guys, i'm kinda new to this forum and i may not have read through all the topics but i just want to know.
i was reading up about rooting and watching videos and stuff and while watching these other topics and videos, i saw that if you mess up while rooting you can brick your phone i was just wondering if i can use wotan client to unbrick my phone by flashing with its original rom or firmware

I don't think anyone ever bricks their phone when obtaining root... but if something indeed does somehow go wrong, re-flashing the firmware would certainly fix it

what software would you use to re flash an android phone
i used wotan client once to re flash a sony ericsson phone after rying to debrand it but it wasn't an android it was a w380i
so will wotan client work???

To reflash on locked bootloader use SEUS. However, on unlocked bootloader you use FlashTool/Fastboot or Clockwork Mod.

use SEUS for locked bootloader
and
use
FlashTool/Fastboot or Clockwork for unlocked bootloader
well i haven't done anything to my phone so right its not rooted and bootloader is locked
SEUS is sony ericsson update service, ok then, if or when i root my phone with its stock rom android 2.3.4 and i'm ready to update to ics 4.0 do i haave to just run SEUS and it will un root it or do i have to use another flashing tool like wotan client flash it back to stock
is wotan client a bad flashing tool???

[Q] Can't flash my xperia arc

hello
im trying to flash my xperia arc to ics but it wont flash
it always stuck on vendor.sin or system.sin
plz help

use the latest flashtool and make sure verification is unticked before flashing

it still stuck on system.sin

when the flashing starts its all good until it reaches to flashing vendor
then the percentage is still the same 10%

The most common cause locked bootloader, have you have it unlocked?

how can i know if its locked?
i cant use my phone
i have the logo of sony and then i see a phone under a caution sign

knowing that you can't use your phone, just follow instruction to unlock it (don't read step 1-2, just jump to step 3)

well its like a digital fingerprint of a device..they are unique..no two fingerprints are same..they are 15 digits code.. Just key in *#06# on your mobile phone and it will display its IMEI number..just follow the instruction to unlock the bootloader man..

or you can find your IMEI in your phone box if i'm not mistaken

You can find the IMEI underneath the battery as well.

I have same problem too, but i know my fault. firstly i unlocked and then i entered to cwm in phone and i tried to flash a rom (it must be this: MooDeD ICS ROM). and now phone wont start, only SONY logo open and freeze. What can i do for restore it?

its mean your phone bootloop..Flash again on flashTool... its because many reason... wrong read instruction or broken file...

Thank you. And I fixed the problem by using Sony Update Service.

[Q] Phone wont turn on after Official Ics update

hey, i tried to update my sisters sony ericsson Arc to official Ics, after it was done downloading, i rebooted into, update screen, or whatever u wanna call it, but then sudenly, the phone shut off, and now it wont turn on, any ideas ?

is your bootloader unlocked? NEVER accept any OTA updates with an unlocked bootloader, use flashtool!

As tangosierra_ said do not accept over the air updates if your bootloader is unlocked if the above not work contact here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252038 :good:

thanks for answers, managed this on my own, i used a ftf file that relocked the bootloader so i could fix it through sony pc companion

xperia zl sudden death,boot loop, unlocked bootloader problem !

plz help me, my xperia zl rooted whose bootloader is officialy unlocked, and and i don't have such information that we have to make TA backup also to relock our boot loader as now i come to know that my warrenty got completly vanished when i tried to repair my cell using sony pc companion, as you may knowz, xperia devices suffering from sudden death errors, firstly my device got sudden death and not switch on in normal state, but it starts when i connect it with charger, but now it is not starts using charger connected also, i reflash my xperia zl with official 4.3 firmware for xperia zl using flashtools, but it is not booting up, then i searched internet and i come to knows about all this mess i had done, then i tried to flash official 4.2.2 firmware bit it gives an error "err_severity="minor";err_code="0017";ERR_Dynamic=0x80080012";" plz help me, my parent also shouted on me soo loud, plz help me to restore my phone. I am hopeless !

go to service centre tell them that you were doing a 4.3 update and this happened.they wont recognise that your phone has an unlocked bootloader bcoz it doesnt start!they will replace it make sure you dont have cwm installed.

i had relock my bootloader through flashtools, but it had just relock the bootloader no drm keys came back, reflash my android 4.3 but mobile is again in a bootloop, so i had given my zl to service centre, they said firstly we will try to install the os, its upto 5 days now, and they are still installing my os back, tommorow i will ask them to replace the cell !

:good: make sure they dont get to now that it had unlocked bootloader by any means and if it gets replaced make sure to make a TA BACKUP Of new one so that u dont loose be2 n drm keys

Hurra my cell got replaced !today only I got the new one, my old Zl was white coloured, but I ask the service centre to give the black colour, I just love the black one, hiphip hurra !

[help] Xperia M can't install updates

Hey I'm new here so sorry if I explain it weirdly and I mistakenly posted this in a different section before
So my xperia M which is now unrooted can't install the 15.4.A.1.9 update it just downloads and reboots and goes to the boot up screen and loads for 2-3 seconds and blacks out and and restarts and it says couldn't install update. How can I fix this?

Try flashing a .ftf file via flashtool

I think i understood your problem and i have a question to ask you. is your bootloader locked or did u unlocked ur bootloader anytime and didnt lock it back.?
if your bootloader is unlocked , u wont be able to install updates from official Sony Update Center.
I dono if this is the exact reason y ur are unable to do but this happened with my phone too.
I use Sony Xperia M Dual C2004 and i wasnt able to install updates, then i noticed that my bootloader was unlocked then i used Flashtool to lock it back, then i was able to install the updates
Or if u want to install .FTF of your phone manually do it via Flashtool coz its safe
and if you want to get .FTF of your phone directly from Sony use PC Companion as Sony Update Service [SUS] is stopped
