samsung remote app is out in android market officially by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd
*cant link u with .apk file download still a junior member on xda
peace out

The wildfire s doesn't have a IrDA port, which is needed to emulate the infrared led that tv remotes use. Unless your tv/remote utilises other communication methods like bluetooth or wifi I don't see how this is possible.

Move to a country that doesn't persecute the people for wanting to access information?
The HD2 is not only a more feature-complete port (they have camera, bt, etc working) but the phone is MUCH more powerful. Not really a fair comparison.
If you want a VPN that badly, figure out how the HD2 guys got it working and port it to our lowly MSM devices. I'm sure other Chinese nationals will appreciate your efforts!
Good suggestions, I'll consider later

don't worry so much, as is confirmed, china will launch the white-list system at this end of the year, only the sites they need us to visit will be available. everyone should be registered in the government if they want internet access. at that time, we cannot even visit xda. so the general vpn won't work anymore

[App] WiFi Direct for Galaxy S

A few months ago, when I had to send a big video to a friend's phone and realized that Bluetooth really sucks, I found out about WiFi Direct.
I googled a lot, but could not find a way to get it to work on my phone, although the I9000 was officially called the "first phone certified with WiFi Direct".
As I'm interested in programming, I started to research what I could do to develop an app that could send files at similar speeds and finally found out WiFi Tethering could work in combination with a simple HTTP server.
I started to write on the app in my free time, got it nearly ready, but stopped working on it because it became quite busy at school.
In the meantime I had switched my phone, but in the holidays I picked up the project again, finished the app and published it on Google Play. It's available there since about two months and received an update recently.
I want to share this app with you guys now. It's free and I hope you'll find it useful.
The app allows for speeds of up to 32 Mbit/s, which means e.g. 1 Gigabyte in just over 4 minutes (depending on devices)
Features:
✔ Up to 20x speed of bluetooth
✔ The receiver is device-independent
✔ No need for a common Wi-Fi connection
✔ No data usage for file transfers
✔ The receiver does not have to have the app installed
✔ Send single or multiple files
✔ Easy to setup: Use QR codes to allow the receiver to easily connect to the wifi and open the receiving URL
Play Store Link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.fastfiletransfer
APK: http://bit.ly/FastFileTransfer
I hope you find this useful!

No, this won't affect Fast File Transfer.
As mentioned, the app uses WiFi tethering (and not WiFi direct) and therefore will still offer fast file transfers.
So don't worry if the next CM10 does not have WiFi Direct, just use Fast File Transfer instead
thank you very much, galaxy i9000 was first device with wifi direct but i had never use it, will try it tomorrow with friend of my. thank you one more time...
Is it possible to make out a way to receive files also... would be more useful then...
Btw the app is very good as now i can shut the mouth of my frnds who show off...
Edit : had to install app in frnds phone and all good in receiving too...
Is there any chance that in future versions, the step of opening the browser or QR code, no need to do it ?
I mean, I do not see the need to open the browser on your second device because the two devices are "connected".
The way that this now appears that the second device downloads the file and not the first device sends it.
I hope I have explained.
Sorry for my english

You could send multiple files once and create a bookmark to the index page in the browser on the recipient device.
Maybe I'll implement a simple receiving part in the next version.

This is technically impossible without having an app installed on the recipient's device. Maybe the receiving part mentioned above will help you, but it will require the receiver to have the app installed, if he wants to benefit from the "fast receiving" function.

Information on Samsung Galaxy S3 Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (Smart Bluetooth)

If any one has any information on Samsung and there progress on fixing the bugs with the low energy bluetooth 4.0 can you plz update us all and post it here.
Thanks!

2. NRF Utility
I know that the app in the andriod market called NRF Utility can scan and find ble devices one your GS3!

3. These people seem very educated on the matter and one thinks he know how to solve this.

4. Info on a development kit.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...y-development-kit-must-have-proximity-profile
5. Say what? uhh i dont think so.
Unfortunately, there are no Bluetooth 4.0 (which Bluetooth LE is a part of) libraries built into android right now. In order to connect an android device to a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, you must do it for a specific device, and that device's manufacturer must have released a bluetooth 4.0 SDK. There is an open bluetooth low-energy SDK for Android

"I want my gb 6900 g-shock watch to pair with my GS3!!! UGH"
I am a app developer and I need Bluetooth 4.0 in order to develop hardware for my own phone. As of now i'm using Apples Iphone 5 " Samsung's Competitor" to develop my apps and Hardware. This does not look good on Samsung's part. I really hope this gets figured out. The Galaxy S3 is the top selling phone as of right now. It is also my favorite in terms of use but. The fact that they advertised 4.0 support this sucks!
I am with you on that bro. Got the gb 6900 on my wrist right now but no application to really take advantage of the ble. Just in case you dont know, you can always check that the SGS3 can see the GB 6900 using the "Bluetooth Smart Scanner" application tool found through play.
I also have a Moto Droid 4 which can natively see the watch using the Bluetooth page in settings but I am afriad I have to perhaps look into the developing my own app.

The nRF Utlility from Nordic, i couldnt even download from the Play Store because my phone is marked as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I747" which is at^t's SGS3. I wish there was a way i could download the .apk file from Play Store or even somewhere on the internet.
I am going to check if Nordic has put it on their developer site.
The application i mentioned only just discovers the Bluetooth 4.0 devices and doesnt connect to them. At the moment it is just good enough for proof that Samsung indeed has a Bluetooth Low Energy module in the SGS3.
If you can give me more info on your SGS3 such as network carrier, what rom and kernel you are using, perhaps i might be able to figure out why it is not working for you.

Hi! yes. You would first need to make sure you have the JB official ROM upgrade from at&t through Kies or rooted and unlocked bootloader SGS3 running JB. Unfortunately, there is no official app from Casio for SGS3 as G-Shock+ exists for iOS yet, but you can download nRF Utility from market and then use the watch as a proximity device.

have you tried to clear the bond between the casio gb6900 and nRF utility and Bluetooth smart scanner or other android apps? I believe you can do that by going to the setup screen on the watch and then keep the split.reset button pressed on the watch. What other apps other than Bluetooth Smart Scanner and nRF Utility have you found on android/for sgs3 that use BLE to connect?

I have yet to try the official G-Shock+ app for iOS. I try to stay away(physically and mentally) from any iOS device. You may be right on the on the "better connectivity " as i know Apple did screw up the Dual Mode Bluetooth chipset on the iPhone 4S...which they might have carried on with iPhone 5.
Yes, you would have to wait untill casio develops something or untill there is a API from Samsung for BLE development for Android. I think the latter one is more important as once there is a API, not only Casio can develop a full fledged app but also many individual developers. Samsung is the real sucker in this.
You hafto go into setup in watch menu then hit "start stop" twice then hold in reset. Then search for the watch again.

Well thanks for the effort. Many people before you have done that and got the same response. I dont know why Samsung is not at the top of the matter on this..especially if they really want to seal the deal for SGS3.
It could be that android/google is really pushing for NFC and not so much on BLE because iOS is pushing more on BLE and not so much on NFC.
I tell you these corporate battles just are hindrances to potential opportunity to many technologies and developers. Shame on them!

I have some good news to share. We should be getting an Android based app from Casio. See this link

"It will work only with iPhone at present - because of the app support - but an Android app is in the pipeline for release later in the year."
Another site i found reporting says around end of summer.

DoubleTwist?
I thought that DoubleTwist is only for receiving music from iTunes; not for sending music and video and such to remote devices. Or can that be done?
I'm also looking for something like this. I'd like to be able to send what I see on the display of my Android device or Linux notebook to my TV. In Apple land, that would be done with AirPlay -> http://www.apple.com/airplay/; "Mirroring" is what I'm after. I'm not looking for something which would allow me to send just a video or music file to my TV - DLNA works.
Can someone suggest a solution? Those AirPlay apps that I found in the Play Store only seem to be able to send music, .or at best also video files. Oh, and I'm also looking for an AirPlay "receiver" for Android, that I could put on some Android USB stick or such which I'd connect to my TV via HDMI.
Oh #2 - it doesn't HAVE to be AirPlay. Something else altogether would be fine as well, as long as it does what I "need".
Thanks,
Alexander

Well then we can close this thread now because AirPlay mirroring isn't going to happen from your Android device. Hell the native Android solution to mirroring (Miracast) isn't even going to happen. That was just Googles way of saying "Look we had a half ass thought about it, now leave us the hell alone. No you cant have mirroring. Sincerly, Google."
You say you are familiar with DLNA and it works well for you, the end.

[Q] If anyone is from China - Can you tell me if Modern Combat is playable online?

As title states. My wife is from China, I have been there twice before. First time was for two weeks, second time was 6 months. Now we are planning on going back for a year. I am well aware 99% of social sites are blocked in China, FaceBook, Gogole+, Youtube, Twitter, etc.
However what I dont know is if Modern Combat or any online capable games are playable online in China. My gut tells me it is a high probability that it will be blocked without using a VPN of some sort.
When I was there last time I was able to access FB and other social sites via alternate means, VPN. However just curious, if anyone can tell me for certain it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

There's a free VPN network app but its only free to connect to a random server so you won't know for sure where it will connect unless you want to pay
