Are you on a stock ROM. Custom roms can cause problems when trying to change numbers ect. So flash a stock rooted rom and see if the problem occurs again
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
so i tried to find one but still didn't work do u know of a good completely stock rom w root i think the correct problem im having is the epst codes correct me if im wrong
The codes, if I recall correctly, only work on Sense based ROMs. Custom ROMs CAN cause issues but for the most part they SHOULD work fine. If you are having problems on a sense based ROM then you can flash the latest stock rooted ROM and you should be good to go. If worse comes to worse you can RUU back to stock and then run the code. I am pretty sure that your grandfather isn't going to care if the phone is rooted or not.

I too have a similar setup. I flash every rom that comes out. Only thing that will give you problems would be the epst settings.
If you were to flash a verzion rom, chances are the apn and epst settings would b set up for their service.
You can dial ##778# to edit these settings . I dont know Boost mobile's ESPT settings.
I use cricket so I followed this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-titan/61034-cricket-pst-settings-thread-ryan-mogul.html

how did you get a dinc on boost. thought they had to be sprint phones with clear esn's?
Yes how did you do this i would love to ditch Verizon and head to Boost. I would save 50 plus bucks a month!

So nobody knows of any roms to use w/ incredible on boost mobile?
you can find one on ebay, the sellers id was everythingcellular i think, or you can find someone off ebay, google, craigslist to flash it for you, you need a donor phone, the 2 ones i was told about were samsung rant and sanyo incognito, you get your service activated onto a donor phone and the person flashes it.
HELLO XDA to begin with i did use the search feature and no luck.. im switching my friend htc evo that was flashed to metro back to sprint.. i flashed a stock sprint pc36im file.. i thought i was finish than i realize that the prl was still metro.. i know before when i had an evo 4g i hit ##775# and i could switch the prl from there but when i try with his, it doesnt work. i know the stock froyo evo rom the ##775 doesnt work, but how can i enable it to work or does anyone know which rom has the ##775# code working.. i have an evo 3d now so please forgive me for not knowing this... the last rom i was wit before i went to the 3d had it working but i forogt who it was since i used to flash like 2 or 3 rom per day lol..

im not sure, but ##775# doesnt work on the stock gingerbread 2.3.3 unrooted either
On the evo, you need to be on a sense rom to use the dialer commands I believe , kinda odd.
##3282# will take u to where u need to be
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I also tried the ##3282# and it didn't work either. I put in the sprintlovers ROM and it didn't work. What else can I try to get this to work?
I'm not a developer so I could be completely wrong. I THINK the ## dialer codes only work on Sense ROMs through the EPST application. Check to see if you have that listed in all applications. If not try another Sense based ROM. ##PRL# and ##DATA# both work on the 2.3.3 Sense V3 ROM I'm using now but I honestly forgot which one it is!
I have a simple question and i think ive seen some mention of it, but nothing quite definitive
I want to root my SGSIIX from Telus(989D), and ive figured out that i can follow the same instructions as the T-mobile version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332103
It suggests a ROM below that was originally posted for the T-mobile ver, is there any T-mobile branding on it visually such as boot screens etc?
Also...
If a ROM works flawlessly on the tmobile version, will it also work flawlessly on the telus version by default. Ive been eyeballing the possibility of Cyanogen or MIUI, and juggernaut...but i wanna make sure EVERYTHING works perfectly after doing so, or if there are certain things that might not work
Thanks! (sorry im rather new to android modding so im trying to learn)
And yes i searched around, but have only seen a few ppl post in threads saying 'it should work', then some say theyve had problems..so thought id make a post!
i have the same questions then you the tutorials i found are for the t-mobile rom
not the telus one but reading other post they are the same rom
but i dont whant to take the risk lol

Same, specially since im new at this!
yes, they are identical software and hardware
i rooted the phone today there is alot of apps in the t-mobile version compare to the telus one I followed the instructions from this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332103
the 4g network was gone could not connect to it only 3g was working
i uninstalled most apps with titanium backup pro but i end restoring to the back up i made from CWR
gonna give it another try when they are going to release a rom that is from telus version of the phone
i hope it helps you
The 4g is broken for me to ...it seems like the modders are only interested in the t-mobile version to, so it looks like even rooting(based on the fact that the rooted rom is also a t-mob) wont even be possible

What do you mean rooting? All you need to do is flash CWM and then the SU package, no need to change any ROM at all.
I rooted my Telus device using the T-Mobile instructions and all was well at home, it stayed on the Telus network and also keep 4G speed.
I went to work with it, where Telus service is very poor, and as soon as I lost Telus it roamed to Rogers and did not try and return to Telus even though I was in an area where Telus signal was good.
In the end I changed the device to wcdma mode only and set the device to manual provider and selected Telus and have had no problems with 4G or not being on Telus...

Do you happen to have a link? I followed a guide on this forum that said the easiest way was to flash the rom!
I rooted my phone, it still said 4G.
When I installed beastMOD it says 3G. But I am definitely getting 4G speeds (20mbps). So.. maybe a bug with the difference in phones?
ughhh
trust me...stick with the telus rom. its actually better code then tmob. newer drivers and less debug code. I tried the tmob and its gawd aweful. if u want goodies...slap a kernel on it then theme it. best way to go imho.
Later
Chand.
haha, i only know how to follow step by step's for this stuff
i can only hope ppl switch over to the telus code i guess
Im trying to find how to root w/o flashing a rom though

For Telus you don't need to change roms when you root.
I'm running the stock rom on my phone with a modified kernel to allow the phone to run faster and the v6 memory mod as well as removing the clock from notification bar.
Installed Titanium and removed a bunch of the crap that came stock with phone too.

I was using Jugs kernel but I switched to Synergy and like it better.
And yes.. I just download it to my sd card and install it thru CWM

Get the recovery.tar from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315390
Flash that through ODIN (PDA mode in ODIN, Download mode on Phone)
Then, place the SU update (http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-3.0.5-efgh-signed.zip) on the root of the SD card. Reboot to recovery, select install zip from SD Card and select the SU update. Reboot and you're rooted without having to use another ROM.
The reason why you keep getting a 3G signal when you are getting 4G speeds is because you are using a T-Mobile ROM. The way the Telus one works, if you don't have a ROM that is based off of Telus's source code, even though everything works perfectly fine, your signal will be "3G". It's really only an aesthetic thing, as the speeds themselves are 4G.
So what kernel do you recomend.
and is it the telus kernel with sudo rights ????

Not sure for kernel, I just used the stock one. I just finished flashing Synergy, haven't tried anything yet! I seem to have this issue where I need to re-search for my network after going into download mode (normal behavior?) so I need to get that working before I want to benchmark.
I fully tested a custom juggernaut rom and a rooted Telus stock rom and the juggernaut rom is waaayyy better. Smoother more options as well as better signal. True it says 3g but actually I get better speeds than stcok Telus rom. In my opinion after several tests don't use stock Telus. It may be better code than T-Mobile stock rom but custom juggernaut rom is way better

Thanks guys!
Ive got it rooted with the lightning blue theme going, and froze a bunch of apps with Titanium that i hate seeing running in the background.
one last question though(i think)
I once had a Fascinate, when i flashed a voodoo mod kernel and tried to remove it, the phone became bricked and the entire insides of the phone had to be replaced
Can flashing a kernel mess with the boot loader(which i assume is cwm)? Is there anything i need to do differently when changing kernels as well, cause so far with ROMS ive just been resetting and flashing with ease. Also do Roms come with kernels, so flashing a rom will either go back to default/other kernels?
I am having a huge issue with getting data to work on my HTC One X international. Any rom i try, aosp or sense, as long as its based on android 4.0.3 can get data to work.
But any rom, aosp or sense, based on android 4.0.4 and all 4.1 roms except 1 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784185 ), i cannot get data to work.
I do know how to manually input my apn because every rom i use except 1 jellybean rom, i have to manually provision data. the one jellybean rom from tripnraver just works. i flash the rom, reboot, and data works.
the newer sense based roms using android 4.0.4 that i really want to use, there is nothing i can do that will make data work. i have posted a thread on xda about a month ago and it didnt get much attention. few guys gave some ideas but most was stuff i already tried.
if someone could look at the jellybean rom and see how the apns are tied into it and maybe tell me how to incorporate the file into a sense rom i would just be so excited. thanks for reading

Are you sure that your antennas are working fine? Might be a hardware defect.
First you'd probably want to relock the bootloader and run the RUU to eliminate software issues.
thanks for replying i appreciate the help. i know its not hardware cuz of all the roms based on android 4.0.3 that do work and the one 4.1 rom that works. as far as the ruu. im on softbank in okinawa japan. should i use one from asia or similar? and when you flash an ruu do you loose root?
edit: duh you loose root. my bad. relock the bootloader and run ruu. you think thats my best bet huh? im a custom rom junkie and this is really being a thorn in my side! lol.

You will lose root when you run an RUU, it is a way of completely wiping and reflashing the device to stock configuration to try and eliminate any possible changes that a custom ROM might have done to the phone's software that is otherwise inaccessible. Once you run an RUU, you can easily unlock again and then flash a custom recovery, then flash a ROM to test if data works.
I'm not sure about the specifics of Softbank, but as long as they use standard GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ protocols you should just need to put in the proper APN (Make sure it's also the right MNC and MCC, I believe those affect your ability to connect.)
do you think my issue has something to do with my CID? i was over reading throught the ruu thread and saw people having issue with certains roms or ruus and it was pertaining to cid. maybe 4.0.4 hasnt been officially released my my hox and just am stuck on 4.0.3 for now? im definitely shooting from the hip here

my buddy gave me his evo 4g for my lil bro and he had it rooted with cm9 4.0.4....but couldnt figure out how to unroot...ive tried every method and cant get anything to work i cant get S-ON its stuck on off , can any one help me? Can't flash anything through clockwork mod either I want to return to stock so I can activate
No need to unroot in order to activate the phone. Flash a Sense ROM to your phone. You'll be able to activate it then. Make sure you back up your current setup in case something goes wrong and you have to go back. AOSP ROM's like Cyanogenmod lack the ability to update PRL and profile, which is needed for activation.
