HTC Sense 3.5 mail app not pulling old IMAP emails - Desire General

Hi all,
For some reason the mail app in Runnymede AIO v6.0.5 (based on HTC Sense 3.5) won't download my old emails - I cannot find anywhere in settings to change this. It will download new emails fine though.
I also cannot find any settings for push, but I assume it's enabled by default as a new email came through almost instantaneously.
Any help would be great - I cannot check with the developer as I do not have enough posts to post in the Development forum.

Default contacts apk.

Hi All,
Old Winmo User here, glad to be back on XDA-Dev after a stint with a Moto Milestone.
I picked up a Desire yesterday. I love most of the HTC tweaks. I like the black theme and glossy skins more than stock android.
However, I can't seem to sync a Facebook account, only 'Facebook for HTC Sense'.
One of my favourite things on the Milestone was being able to click on someone's photo in any app and have the option to contact them via facebook, twitter , gmail, gtalk etc. This has gone on the Desire. I also liked being able to jump to a contact card straight from the Facebook and Twitter app, but this option has gone now too. The integration, which is the shining point of Android is missing on the Desire.
I think the problem is possibly because the default contacts.apk is missing, and the godawful HTC one is there instead, so Facebook and Twitter don't know what to sync with. Is this right?
I have found the contacts.apk from this thread however I can't install it. Is this because I don't have root access?
If I root my Desire, and install this APK, will my Facebook and Twitter integration return?
Cheers in advance
You should be able to send it with htc sync to your phone. (once connected a third option will appear in the programme)
Just make sure that in settings->applications that unknown sources is checked.

This thread indicates otherwise.
Is there something that HTC Sync does that just running an .apk does not? I've installed several other .apk files without problem.
You should only be able to sync with 'Facebook for HTC Sense' from the sync menu. If you open the facebook app then it will also sync with 'Facebook'. I think so anyway.
This is how I understood it too.
I 'had' a stock Desire yesterday morning and Facebook HTC Sense etc was working swimmingly there, got all updates and contact pics on the 2.1 release (out of box night before), since i rooted and dropped on a different ROM i lost all of that but my memory recalls;
Stock 2.1>Root>setup and the pictures were there fine
then Cooked ROM>setup = Fail
My suggestion is try for a root on stock and if it works all ok your golden! i think my issue is the ROMs i use dont support Facebook Sync,,, yet

where the E.mails gone????

hello all
iam using HTC mail client and widget which already included in roms with sens and the checking email and download service running well.
but time to time the messages being deleted by itself.
whats the wrong up and are there any solution?
thanks

[Q] Android Email client keeps losing/deleting account

Hey
I recently changed from the stock sense email client to the android email client to take advantage of its push Hotmail feature (plus it has better features overall) but what i'm finding is that every few days i wake up and it has completely deleted my account settings. when i click on the app it takes me to the email/password set up a new account screen
Is anyone else seeing this and know how to fix it?
Thanks for anyone who can help
rom: 2.29.405.5
with root!
I can't tell you the answer, but telling others whether you're rooted and what ROM you may be using will make it easier for others to help you.
ah good point, thanks...have added the info to my original post

Hotmail on the Wildfire S (the deleting problem!)

Morning all...
So then, I'm still playing with my phones setup having had it for a month....
My main gripe is the lack of internal memory but thats another issue!
So then, I use Windows Live for all my personal stuff (contacts, calendar, and email) and want it to remain that way. I have tried using the official hotmail app however when I used that it used too much internal memory and the phone as a whole suffered.... So I would rather use the integrated android email solution. This works fine for everything when set up as an activesync account bar one thing. When you delete an email it will reappear on the next sync.
I currently get around this buy moving messages I want deleted to the trash box manually (Menu -> move -> Trash). Has anyone found a solution/fix to get the delete button working when syncing with hotmail!?!?
I'm used to Windows Mobile 6.5 so my thinking is that it shouldn't be too hard an issue to resolve... but I have no experience with Android yet! Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks all
Use standard mail app. See the thread of miui it includes link from me. Works great, Hotmail with puch and contact and calendar sync.

Should have mentioned... I am S-ON with the original o2 ROM....
So despite this....
If I download and use that mail.apk
it will overwrite the mail.apk installed on the device and resolve the deleting problem!
yes?
No it's just another app. I'm s-on too. Only allow to install non market apps

ok... but the app allows full integration with the htc sense functions?
Does it have a widget to display emails etc?
Does Contact linking work like normal ?
sorry for all the qs!
Works all but no sense widget. It's mail app from cm7

Hotmail Activesync on stock Desire (2.2.2)

Hi,
I'm currently setting up my old Desire (stock running 2.2.2) for my father, who uses a hotmail account. He has got lots of folders/filters, so I think it would be a big job to migrate it all to a Gmail account.
I've read a number of posts about there being a bug in the HTC mail.apk that prevents active sync from working. The solution in most of the posts I've found was to install a newer version of the default mail app. However, most of these posts are quite old and the links no longer work.
Does anyone have activesync working on a stock Desire running Froyo, and have the mail.apk (or current link to it) that I need to get activesync working? Alternatively, has anyone gotten K9 mail working for hotmail (using activesync, not pop3)?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I do think the stock email.apk app (and possibly exchange.apk) from AOSP for 2.2 did work on the htc desire - but I ended up using Enhanced Email from the play store instead and stuck with it.
I heard another very similar bug with the htc sensation ICS mail.apk app recently so I am still glad I stuck with Enhanced Email personally - hotmail eas been working ever since they released it!
sorry if it doesnt help much with your issue
Thanks. I've managed to find the 2.2 ASOP mail.apk eventually. It is actually working as well. Unfortunately it is somewhat limited in that it doesn't notify you about new mail in different folders.
Thanks!
