[Q] Mp4 Video lagging - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone having problem with playing large video files like mp4 files of sizes 100 mb above on DHD??? I never had this problem when i had the stock rom, but since my first flash that is 6.3.1 this prob is there. I have now flashed to 7.0.0 and the rom runs great but the same problem still persists. I have searched various threads and tried various video players. The video lags, that is the video buffering is slow but the sound plays faster. I am trying to play the same files that i used to play before but it lags like anything. Someone please help, i cant even post in the thread of My rom, as i am a new member.

Answer
Finally figured it out..

Encoding is the solution

Best is Encode Hd, does everything for you..

problems with MP4 (dutch rom)

hi everyone
i installed the dutch 2.07.401.4 rom (launched 18 march 2010) on my tp2 a week ago. there seems to be an odd flaw in mp4 playback, both in album and in windows media player.
some movies are working perfectly allright (video + sound), but others have just video and no sound. before i installed this rom they ALL worked fine, so i suppose this must be a driver/codec problem. i made sure to check everything after a hard reset of my device, and before installing any other programs on it. with no result...
all the concerning mp4s were encoded with htc touch hd converter. i tried to re-encode some non working files with a freshly downloaded version of the converter, but again with no result.
i can't discern a pattern in the problem. some non working mp4 files are longer, some are shorter. some are larger (MB-wise), some are smaller.
does anyone has the same problem, or has someone had this same problem?
In my opinion you should start using coreplayer for your movies. It almost plays every format and I have no issues it's just better then the standard players that you get from htc
maybe i should give it a try then. i just happily found out that it comes in dutch as well
but i have just one question prior to my installation: does it support the video acceleration of my tp2? because the advantage of having HD video would be lost if it's all choppy.
ok, so i did install coreplayer and figured out how to prevent the initial choppiness i was affraid of. but i'm not really happy with the quality. the quality is not as fine as what i'm used to from HTC album. i really hope i'll find another solution for the mp4 problem, but at least i can play the problematic mp4s now... so thanks, Lennyz1988

[Q] Flash Video issues

Sorry my other post got buried in QA
Hello,
I unfortunately (like many others) received my EVO with the OTA update being performed. I was excited to test flash video on my favorite website but had intermittent results. The sound would work on some videos but not others. I was wondering if some other EVO users with other roms installed could try and post their results.
The website is otaku-streamers.com
The video are in a streaming mp4 format, some work fine but other's have no audio. I have also tried many other web browsers but with no success.
Example:
1. Hajime No ippo new challenger works with video and audio synced.
2. 07 Ghost loads video but will not play sound.
When viewing the source I noticed that each Video loads from a different server. I am not sure if the server is the problem or the actually format in which the videos were encoded
Thanks,
I hadn't had flash issues til after the ota. Oddly enough
I would be curious to see your results. I imagine they will be the same though. Please post back if you can and have time to test.
I am trying to find someone running Baked snack, Damage Control, or other rom.
Bump
I have nowhere else to go!
Please help me

[Q] Choppy video - used to work okay. No video in native player, either

I've been experiencing some choppy video problems on my myTouch Slide. I know phones are somewhat notorious for this, but the weird thing in my case is that it used to work just fine and now it won't. Same video file (a movie in WMV format), same media player (arcMedia), now it won't work.
So I thought "it's probably a problem with arcMedia." So I tried RockPlayer. Same problem. Then I tried streaming flash video on Dolphin HD (which also used to work provided the video was buffered). Same problem.
So I grabbed an MP4 off of NASA's website and tried it on the native player. I don't get any video, just sound. From what I can tell this video should play just fine: H264 video codec and everything.
I'm new to Android but not new to computers and tech.
Any ideas?
Well what changed? Did you install any new apps that may be running in the background? Did you flash another rom or something since the last time you played this wmv file?
What was the resolution of the MP4 off the NASA site? If it was HD that is probably the reason why you get no video.

Video Lag issues

Hello, I am having issues playing all sort of video files on a t-mobile defy with stock 2.2.1 , very low resolution videos play fine, but when the video has a higer resolution than 480X320 i get a ton of lag, video and sound are of sync and pixelation. I tried killing all apps and it somehow help. I tried vplayer (the best so far-but paid), movoplayer, vital player, summer player and nothing seems to work as it should. Does anyone had this same issue and found a solution? Does rooting the phone will help? Any assistance will be appreciated

Hello, I had the same problem, I have a Defy Rooted with Pays ROM, I think is not neccesary to root your phone to get quality videos playing fine.
I solved the playing issues with rockplayer, you can found the Rock Player Lite version and test it, is working great for me, including 720p videos !
Hope can help you
Sorry for my bad English
Try mobo player...............not much lag

[Q] terrible MKV playback?

So I've been searching for about a day now for a solution to this problem. I've been trying to play MKV files on my phone, but every single player i've tried (mobo, mx, rock, vlc nightly, bs, dice, and vplayer) have been really stuttery and the audio desyncs massively.
It seems that most people are able to play MKVs but for some reason I can not get it to play smoothly at all.
Has anyone come across this and know a solution?
(the file I'm trying to play is a 720p h264 mkv with aac audio. I would put up all the file information if I knew how, so I can if someone shows me)
I'm really sorry if there is an answer to this somewhere, but I tried a search here and only got a thread talking about how everyone can play MKVs smoothly
Are you running a stock Rom or one of the aokp or cm roms? With stock I haven't had an issue with any mkv even on my previous sgs and sgs2. Are all mkvs having problems or is it just the one ?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
dude i can stream mkvs without problem
mx player by turning the software decoding on in settings
or vlc player beta
It seems like it only happens on 10bit MKVs. MX Player is the best with software decoding but there are still some dropped frames. I saw a video of someone playing 10bit perfectly fine and a thread saying the S3 can handle 10bit so I'm not exactly sure whats wrong.
I'm running TuchMi 5.0 so I might try to go back to full stock just to see if that helps.
I would try the VLC beta but US can't get it from the play store and the nightly crashes constantly for me.
EDIT: full wipe didn't help
make sure you got the 1.7 update, for me the audio would get out of sync on any anime but with H/W+ that is now solved and i got back DTS thanks to custom codecs.
Software is horrible for me it plays fine, but everything gets artifacts and colored blocks etc. At first i though it was the device that god it wasn't
I have 1.7. H/W+ works for you? it keeps telling me that I can't play the video with it. Can you give an example of and episode that works for you?
Actually I'm curious about this too. Just tried to stream Planet Earth from my PC and I had huge lag because if you are streaming on MKV it uses software decoding...
To be fair I might have to push up my VSEL values...but I really doubt that's the case. Another thing I'm going to try is PS3media server which TRANSCODES (meaning your computer does the coding) for all media files...so it is streaming everything converted for your phone. The annoying thing about it though is that it won't automatically start with my computer
A third alternative is to setup a vlc media player server.
