My Galaxy Nexus (Norwegian - Not 4G version) became laggy after I got the 4.0.2 version. This is NOTICEABLE when pressing the application switcher on-screen button, when selecting an app inside this manager, when scrolling the widget screen - and a little bit elswere inside different menus.
All in all I REALLY regret I installed the 4.0.2 OTA!
I had approx 1Gb apps installed which I removed, with to luck.
I also tried to factory reset the phone. When restoring,
I also tried NOT using the google backup as I thought the 4.0.2 update
could be included in this backup.
Problem is: Version 4.0.2 remain even if I factory reset phone.
It feels like the phone is contaminated, like I installed a virus!
If this is not fixed I will buy another phone. It was quite smooth with the 4.0.1 but now it feels really laggy.
Phone is of course "stock" and not changed in any way. I read that this problem is common, and I wonder if there is any way to roll back to v. 4.0.1??
Is there a fix in 4.0.3??
I will appreciate any help!

Hello there
I got a new nexus two weeks ago and of course had to update it to it's latest version. I had a yakjuXV running 4.1.1 or something like this and flashed it to takju 4.1.2 stock.. Since it wouldn't update OTA to 4.1.2. ( installing adb drivers and using nexus root toolkit)
Then OTA to 4.2 and it was really smooth at the beginning. Also after restoring apps.
After some days I encountered serious lagging. Three times sudden reboots (starting from the boot animation, not from the Google logo and the unlock sign) Some widgets crashing that I haven't used at all... Apps crash some times..
But most annoying: while in an app the app would close as if I've switched to another app, and than come back to itself directly.. Especially annoying while writing.
Very annoying is how slow my nexus got:
For work I often have to demonstrate our NFC business cards and on the 4.1.1 whilst tapping the card to my SGN the contact showed up immediately on the screen, now it takes like minimum 10 seconds...
Are these known 4.2 bugs? Is there something to do? Can it be that I need to uninstall some heavy apps or is it strictly 4.2 related?
Thank you

So I upgraded to the Stock JB on Rogers..
Now when i'm Txting with the stock app SMS app I get lag
Say i'm typing a txt message to someone and a new one comes in at the same type as i'm typing the phone will lag big time or freezes just for a sec..
Any way to fix this.. it can get really slow if I have a conversation going on with 3 different people at the same time.

I have the same Issue on AT&T stock JB. I'm using ChompSMS and it is super slow at responding to my keyboard input. I tried the stock messaging and its even slower and freezes. I tried clearing the ram and trying again but it didnt help. It was fine right after the update but now became sluggish. I'm using the stock samsung keyboard too
I flashed a different keyboard and it seems to fix the lag when typing. Haven't seen much other lag in SMS. The keyboard I'm using is https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDEsImplbGx5YmVhbmtleWJvYXJkLmYuZyJd
Pretty much most keyboards are better than the stock IMO. I use the 4.2 keyboard, personally. Brilliant work of art right there xD
I use a different keyboard and still have lag issues. Probably not to the extent at the OP but it's still noticeable
Turn off the auto suggest.
I've noticed that after upgrading and keeping your existing data it feels sluggish and laggy regardless of the carrier ROM.
I flashed via ODIN the completely stock official jellybean for my carrier att and restored all apps via market and data only for certain apps via TB.
My touchwiz jellybean now works with no stutter or lag whatsoever and the battery life is now exceptional. When I did an upgrade it sucked real bad.
Backup your internal SD if you do this as it will wipe your internal SD and make sure before flashing via Odin that you do factory reset and wipe data, cache and dalvik.
You can re-root using cf root then install TWRP or CWM after that and then finally use Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.
same here. looking for a solution, stock keyboard on official att JB is super laggy and slow when compared to aokp... unsure why. sometimes it even freezes. i've moved onto swiftkey flow for now; seems to be a little better.
So I have been using SwiftKey keyboard for a day now and the issue is gone.. So it must be the stock keyboard. Causing the bad lagging

So I updated my Verizon GNEX to 4.2.2 yesterday and I feel like the OTA did a bad install. Prior to the update I had no keyboard issues but now whenever I open the keyboard to use it (stock keyboard) it repeatedly slides in and out of view without touching the screen at all or while im typing which is even more annoying. If I switch to a custom keyboard (like swiftkey) it does the same, only instead of slidiing in and out of view it will rapidly flash in and out of view. I would really like to keep my phone stock. Everything else works fine. Its just this one issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW: I've already tried a factory reset, going to the stock keyboard app and clearling data, cache, force stopping and disabling. None of it has solved the issue.

I was getting some lag, very slight, after Lollipop update OTA. So I did a factory reset and it's very smooth now. Very happy with this update overall. But some slight problems still show up. Like snow on screen after waking up and some apps that have problems (might need updates).
Very laggy

I get no lag on my SM T800 and it is much smoother than with KitKat. Again, that is after doing a factory reset (and flashing the firmware through Odin rather than OTA), but I always factory reset after a major update. If it matters, I'm also rooted. Very happy with this upgrade and looking forward to my favorite ROM upgrading.
I have maybe two hours of real usage time with the Lollipop on the Tab S, so I have only superficial observations..
First of all, the fingerprint scanner works a lot better. This alone makes installing the Lollipop update worth it. Next, I am not a big fan of the all white theme in the settings, keyboard, etc. The old one worked fine IMO. Finally, yesterday I did quite a bit of switching between applications, from my web browser to download manager, and a wifi analyzer (did it like 10 times), and I didn't feel much lag. However, I am disappointed with the new view of the apps/tasks where they are now stacked behind each other instead of side by side. Overall, it's gone pretty smooth. I'll see how it goes. I can't imagine going back to KitKat. If there are major issues, I could upgrade to CM12 by then.
This may help.
Had a similar problem with lags even after hard reset, so did a clear cache and factory data erase in recovery mode (volume up+home+power button) and it flies now..
I backed up the demo video first as it wipes all internal content.

A few hours after flashing the factory image, my 5x has been scrolling really choppily, it's not as noticeable when I fling the scrolling ( take my finger off the screen after flinging the scrolling direction) but it's extremely noticeable when I'm scrolling while keeping my finger on the screen. I'm not quite sure if this choppiness only affects scrolling, it could possibly be a frame cap, but I haven't really noticed any lag or choppiness when opening apps. I think this could also be due to the system optimizating the apps in the background since android system and Android OS have pretty high battery usage percentages, and I've been having worse battery life than I had when my 5x was on marshmallow. The phone gets woken up a lot when it's idle. I've reflashed the factory image again and once again for the first few hours the phone is fine and then after that the scrolling choppiness returns and the Android system and Android OS battery drain too. I'll probably roll back to marshmallow if these problems don't get better in a few days after the system is done optimizating the apps in the background. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been having these issues and if anyone has a way to make the scrolling smooth again (once again the scrolling is smooth for a few seconds after rebooting and then the choppiness comes back once again) thanks in advance.
I'm getting same issues Im most likely going back to MM until next Nougat revision is issued

Yea, I also went back to marshmallow because I couldn't stand the scrolling choppiness and the battery life issues. I really did want to wait a few days to see if it made a difference but it felt like the choppiness wasn't just affecting the scrolling it felt like the phone was being frame capped. And the battery life just seemed to get worse and worse so the problems didn't seem to flatten themselves out. However I did read some posts on reddit that suggested the problems being caused webview being integrated into only chrome instead of being a standalone app; the post suggested uninstalling chrome and updating webview. For me it didn't really help with the battery issues and scrolling issues but others can try and see it helps with their phones.
Why are you reflashing the stock image? Try factory resetting or format data/cache in recovery, then just take the OTA.

I reflashed the stock image via the flash-all.bat file so it wipe the entire phone including the data and cache partitions. But even after that the scrolling choppiness and battery issues come back after a few hours.

I'm wondering if the stock image or the flashing process is the issue. I would try reverting back to MM and take the Nougat OTA update, and then format data/cache.
I dont get this issues.
But ive installed tupiac4u Custom Rom.
new on N5x, bought the day 7.1.1 came out.
I never tried 6.0 but 7.1.1 (only thing I tried, why downgrade?) is far from being smooth
I'm trying kernels, roms, aosp, cm, stock based, anyhting I do doesn't help. it's not smooth
I have 3 friends with unrooted phone, who just updated to 7.1.1 through OTA and is smooth as should be....curious....
well, I tried 6.0 and is not any good
updated to 7.1.1...not solved
done again factory reset with flash-all.bat to 7.1.1 and is still not perfect...
I tried a friend's unit, is damn smooth, really, 60fps always, scrolling is so good...
I really don't know how to solve this. custom kernels are faster but not smoother....
wish I could get it replaced

Definitely get it replaced, sounds like bunk hardware. Maybe a faulty CPU/GPU.

I can't...what should I say? the device works, everything run fine. no hardware fault...just a unfortunate unit, but is not enough to get it replaced
I just was having all these issues and Google is replacing my phone after going through all the troubleshooting with them.
If you guys go to the sound menu in the actual settings menu, does your volume jump around at all? I discovered this on the phone and I'm wondering if this is some weird issue separate form these problems or part of a bigger problem with this image.
