[Q] Rooted & S-Off, only sense roms working? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've been working on my gf's vodafone uk desire z for a while, trying to get it to work with a MIUI rom (I have MIUI-XJ working perfectly on my normal desire and she really wants it on her phone).
The problem I have is:
After following a tutorial to root, s-off and get clockwork on the phone worked perfectly, the only roms that work now are sense based (official RUU, rooted stock, visionary etc) but not CM7 or MIUI.
Can anyone think of a reason behind this?
Details about the phone from the bootloader:
VISION PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.84.2000 (PC10******)
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 8 2010,15:56:38
Also latest Cloockwork Mod Recovery.

Try a full wipe before you flash. Search the forum for the SuperWipe tool, download it and run it.
There's no logical reason why you shouldn't be able to get those other ROMs running. My DZ was originally from Vodafone with a Sense ROM, then I switched to CM7 with no problems (I did a wipe, though not actually a SuperWipe).
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.

You should try to install the engineering HBOOT, for Desire Z, as G2 HBOOT won't take other roms.

[Q] Root PVT4 HBOOT-0.93.0001

I'd appreciate if someone could help me here.
I sent my phone in for warranty, and I recently got it back, they switched the mainboard. Now I'm unable to root. When running Unrevoked 3.3 (both with standard and custom, Amon-RA 2-0, recovery). It's stuck on "pushing recovery".
Hboot info:
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Mainversion is 2.29.405.5.
Any help is appreciated.

Did you tried the last unrevoked 3.32? If it doesn't work, mean u are missing something..check drivers etc..
I have the same phone, and after some problems rooted it with amonra 2.01 through unrevoked. Make sure you remember the unrevoked driver install.

Hey... I think I'm having the same problem with Unrevoked's latest version -- 3.32. Details of my phone's hboot screen are:

Plz Help!!!!!!!
It says the root process was triumph. And then, it gives the error -- Validation Error: Back CID is missing.
Other Info:
-- I've no idea how come this is S-OFF -- actually, it's a used device I bought from ebay.in in India
-- Also, how to find out whether this phone is SLCD one or the AMOLED one. My another phone is Galaxy S which has Super AMOLED Plus and looking by its displau quality, I think the desire is AMOLED.
-- It would be helpful too if there is a way to find out its origin -- UK, Germany, etc?
Help!
First, uncheck "disable security" in unrevoked. Second, try custom recovery, amonra seems to be working for everyone. Mine has same specs and i successfully rooted twice, both time with amonra, but unrevoked forever is not supported, hence you have to uncheck that security thingy (can't remember exact wording, it's in unrevoked-file-...security...
Used unrevoked 3.2 Test to solve this!

Hey.. thanks for pointing it out but I already got it alright by using the 'unrevoked 3.2 Test' file. I know it was very risky and the test file was withdrawn by the developers because of bugs, but I just did it and it's fine now. S-OFF is still S-OFF, recovery installed fine, though!
Thanks you, again!
I believe desire is sold with s-off by default in India and China. Hence, its from one of these two countries.

Try Unrevoked 3.21. You can download it after a little search in google. I have same HBOOT and PVT4, and the latest versions of Unrevoked don't work for me, but 3.21 does.
I've successfuly applied new recovery and rooted with the latest unrevoked, but before that it was needed to roll back to 2.2 rom...

yes you can install custom roms now. but if there is a rom that requires 'custom hboot' like DATA++ or CM7 hboot etc you would have to s-off first.
also you never MUST flash new radios, it is only if you want to or if your phone doesnt work properly anymore (connection issues).
i was in your situation week ago. and believe me, it was worth S-OFFing my device. it was super easy (as easy as rooting, CD method) and the benefits are... well data++ roms are super-fast, and when i was using a2sd+ or data2ext roms (which is what you will be using) i kinda fooled myself that i dont care bout lags damn, now i couldnt cope with it !
if you want the -new Sense- roms (from desire HD or desire S) go for s-off it is worth it. if you want stock desire sense or non-sense rom, there is no need for s-off, since this roms are pretty fast, but using them with custom hboot will give you more responsivness when you will have lot of apps
all types of roms (new sense, old sense, no sense, miui) are available for S-ON users, but some of them will be kinda slow.

Thank you for taking time to reply !!!
Ur words gave me the confidence to move ahead further and apply the method to turn S-off.Now the phone is completely hacked and i installed CM7...what a change it has bought to the device...its definitely very much snappier than stock(eventhough i found it super snappy after my topaz...lolz)...Just like to add that rooting on Android is more complicated than HSPL nd other stuff on WM....but thanks to people like you and friends at xda made things very simple.

Bell Desire Z 2.3.3 Flash Rom

Hey, I have a Bell Desire Z that I purchased used and now realized has been modified in some way before. It was at some Froyo version, but then I applied the OTA gingerbread update because I did not know at the time that it was modified. It is carrier unlocked for sure. In the boot loader it has the following settings:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0013
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.10.04.12_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 11 2011, 23;36;27
So I assume it has S-Off, but it does not have root. I tried to run gingerbreak, but it just stayed at the rooting process screen for 15 minutes so I closed it. If I want to flash a CM7 rom, what will I need to do? Thanks!

Boot into clockwork recovery and do a wipe. Then flash zip from there

Hi, i am in the same situation as you do, I ve loocked up on the internet with no luck, and I finally got to this post. I wonder wether it worked for you, because I try to install recovey from rom manager, but it says, I do not have enough permissions. Did you succeed installing the recovery?
I would be gratefull if you can give me some light on this matter, cause I am lost.
Many thanks,

Desire HD instantly boots into Bootloader.

Hey.
First; sorry for my bad english, i'm from Germany and i'll try my best.
I have a Desire HD, it was running Leedroid about ~5 month, but i decided to try out CoreDroid.
I've done a factory reset in the recovery-menu, flashed the new radio and then flashed the rom.
I had no problems while flashing the rom, but after i did the reboot, i only come to the bootloader-menu.
When i go back into the recovery through the bootloader and flash a backup from my old Leedroid, everything is fine :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17036611&postcount=4
I've flashed this:
12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.36.0)
- Also flash the following RIL package: RIL_2.36
My bootloader says:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.15_M3
eMMC-boot
Does someone have an idea how to get coredroid running on my desire hd?
regards.

[Q] Help with S-OFF

Hi guys,
I used sk8tr5955's tutorial, trying to get S-OFF for my HTC Wildfire S. In a nutshell, here's what I did
- Created a goldcard
- Put the DIAG files on the goldcard
- Turned of fastboot
- Rebooted into HBOOT
It then scans and find the zip, but it's stuck at the 'Jumping to DIAG' part. Does any of you know what im doing wrong?
Here my Wildfire info regarding HBOOT etc:
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.03.0000
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.46.35.08

I hope you guys can tell me how to succesfully S OFF my Wildfire. I really want to try a custom rom , internal memory is full after installing like 5 apps.
~ EvertorN
S-Off can only be done using the XTC-Clip
Wish people would LEARN TO READ!
Learn to read? The title of the tutorial clearly states 'WITHOUT Xtc-clip' and some people in that thread confirmed the method works.
If you have a CDMA phone. AKA a phone without a sim card slot.
Ah sorry, I missed that. Without s off, its impossible to install a custom rom right? Im running out of space for my apps, so I wanted to install a small, aosp rom.
No custom roms, no root. Can't do much to free up space.
You can try installing one of those ROMS.
I only had 22mb used for the European rom

[Q] Unrooting HTC Desire

Hi, apologies for creating another thread for something that is probably very simple, but the information I’ve found can be conflicting sometimes
I've a rooted HTC Desire with a (very old) LeeDroid ROM installed.
Phone is going, so I want to revert back to the office UK T-Mobile ROM.
Current configuration:
Bravo PVT1 S-ON
HBOOT - 0.80.0000
Radio - 5.09.05.30_2
Clockwork Recovery v 2.5.0.7
I've never messed about with S-OFF or anything?
Is it simply a case of getting the correct RUU (which I think I have, RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed) and running it?
I realise that this is probably a stupid question, but any assistance would be appreciated?
Thanks
Put the 2.2 one on, not the 2.1
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.10.05.17_2_release_143754_signed.exe
Or better yet put the unbranded 2.3.3 from htcdev.com.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you need to install a rom with sense, plug USB in HTC Sync mode and then run the RUU.
Then the official RUU should take care of everything (boot, radio).
But again, never done myself.
Thanks guys, installing the official RUU from the website worked perfectly
Thanks for the advice
