so after a slight freakout thinking Verizon was to blame..i got on the phone with money networks and there is in fact a problem with the prepaid card.
I noticed this when i went into my wallet app and it did the "nfc is disabled" error that gave a serious problem to my first nexus. I then reset the wallet app from its settings and went to add the card again to get a nice "prepaid is not available at this time. please try again soon"
money networks confirmed they are aware of the issue and it is being worked on......thank god i only had like 12 bucks left on the card.
Google temporarily disabled provisioning of the prepaid card because a couple bozos made a big deal about nothing.

yea but that would make sense for new cards, not existing cards on existing devices with a balance.
ugh.....great
Basically you can't add prepaid at all. New or not. If you have it,it will work but if you reset you can't get it back.

not exactly a big deal about nothing...it's very straight forward to use someone's entire google prepaid balance...i think they have done the right thing and that the card should require a PIN/password/google login to be re-provisioned. I don't see why 1st time provisioning needs to be turned off though...

is it not more the other way round it would make sense? cards with a balance can have money stolen whereas new cards can't?

i was just wondering have you tested this? i read somewhere else that you may be able to re-add existing cards after resetting due to them being stored in the secure element on the NFC chip? but this info said it was untested

i have been trying to test it over and over but it wont re-add the existing car with existing balance. i reset the app, reset the app and uninstalled and reinstalled the app and nothing
its something on their side.
I also made the mistake of resetting when I saw under my card it couldnt contact bank for the user id, now it wont even let me add a prepaid card ..I had $20 on mine too Im assuming we just wait it out? This essentially breaks wallet for me since I dont use citi so this is bull
we might be getting a bit closer to a re-enabling as the same initial error doesnt come up. it tries to add and then it swill say the prepaid in unavailable under the card rather than the black mini window

Ok, but could you please elaborate on that ? What have you actually tried, what happened, etc. etc. ?
You get a credit card with a valid address, postal code, even a phone number.
While this may all look ok while you're entering it in, when you actually go to add the funds, it says that it didn't work and asks you to try again.
There is no error code, it just asks you to do it again. I have tried it repeatedly with all manner of combinations of getting the address right etc.

I will try the usunlocked card now. I am in Europe and have an European GSM Galaxy Nexus. I have managed to install and get working all the google apps and markets with provider faking and us VPN address, without using any hacked apps. Movies market doesn't tell me my phone is rooted like it does on my Nexus One, but it tell me none of my cards are valid for movies. I haven't tried to add founds to top up on my 10$ wallet account. When the usunlocked validation process is finished I will try that as well as renting movies. Will report back.

Dude... the fourth response in this thread explicitly states that USunlocked does not work...? Or am I missing something?
I don't have a hacked wallet app. I don't think it matters much though since I think the problem lays with the type of card used. But anyway my main reason for trying this is to be able to buy music and rent movies, I hope they aren't so strict there.

If you just transfer manually from your bank account 20$ to the Google pre-paid card account number that is written in Wallet, does it work ?
not sure if it as simple as transferring money to the account number....

A social security number may be needed now...
Isn't it launching in UK for the Olympics? You might not have to wait much longer. On a side note, I have been using Google Wallet on my GN in US for a few weeks now and while it's absolutely awesome/futurisitic to use, it's surprising how few places take it here (I'm in NYC!). Google only has a very small number of partners and even the # of Mastercard PayPass locations is suprisingly small.
Hopefully things will pick up.
I'm just looking forward to an official Canadian launch soon. I have seen a lot of terminals that i could pay at using a GNEx
Okay, let me confirm some suspicions.
I can confirm that this method is working with a $25 Vanilla Mastercard (I'm located in Canada)
Second, a Social Security Number is only required after topping up more than two times. (Unconfirmed by me, but was stated in this thread)
Mohitrocks,

The reason enter billing adresses to credit card payments is to verify your identity, obviously if your address on file with google doesnt match your cc billing adress thats on file with your bank, it will get declined. The reason vanilla works is because there is no address attached to it since you dont get billed, so you just create a fictive address with matching zip code you manually registered.
I just used my prepaid funds at a McDonald's in Brampton, Ontario and it was amazing, lol. I'm rooted by the way and used in no problem even with the unsupported device message.

Do you have a link to an up-to-date Market Enabler? Something that works with Jelly Bean and the Play Store? I've been digging through threads looking for one, and I can't find an official thread for one. There's one called "Market Access" (sorry, I don't have enough posts to include an outside link here) that will apparently do it, but I'm hesitant to install something from a random link.

Try to add money to your Google prepaid card. It did not work for me, even if my Canadian Visa has a US billing address. I think it detects the institution who released the card and blocks it. I purchased my Nexus directly from Google Play, using the same card. From what I heard, they detect also if your phone is rooted or non-stock ROM:
We strongly discourage gaining system-level "root" access to your phone if you plan to use Google Wallet. We are unable to support devices with unauthorized operating systems as the security layers of the device may be limited.

Do you really think Google is that stupid to allow adding a credit card with a fake address like others are trying to do?
Anyways, I have a Canadian credit card with an official US billing address on it. Guess what, Wallet does not work at all on Bell. Even if I put my T-Mobile SIM card on the phone, I'm pretty sure it will not work also with a Canadian card as the financial institution is not registered into Google's Money Network.
We have to wait like every one else... until Google decides to open Wallet in Canada, if it will.
At the rate they open products in Canada, we should have it enabled in about 10 years.
Ya I agree. Its stupid. Sorry Google but USA isn't the only country in the world. This the usa likes to think so. Lol

Ok, got the app working on a Vodafone GSM Galaxy Nexus, added both a Visa and a Mastercard with a US address, but when I touch the Select card below the respective card, a pop-up appears: "Error Please try again.". Ideas ?
Is there a list of store to see who takes this?
Could someone pull the apk for us internationals to download? Please?
Just use Market Enabler from Play to switch to T-Mobile, then the app will become visible in Play and you can carry on from there.
As for the "Error, Please try again" when trying to set a Visa/Mastercard as Enabled ? Anyone ?
Yeah, I did a fresh install and reset within the app. Still a no go through. I'll try and wipe data within settings. I really hope I can get it working since I never got it working on the Wallet app before.

Don't know, but, if the person has not deleted your account from the phone you could send an email to yourself and either offer a reward for the return and tell him you are about to lock it and make it unusable.
You can also play store on your computer and install Wheres My Droid and hope he puts your sim back in for a few minutes!
Then on someone other mobile phone send your phone a txt of
WMD GPS
it will send back the location
See the website for other comands you can send to it.
Can't hurt to try and hope he puts the sim back in.
Definitely install it on your phone if you get it back, or your next phone.
It can send you the new number if they change the sim!
Good luck! Hope it works out!

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
No, it will not work if your account is no longer on the phone.
I would suggest you call your carrier and ask if they can locate the phone by IMEI + GPS/etc - that's about your only hope (and I don't know if they'd do it, or if they'd block the IMEI, or if they'll only do that if you have insurance, et cetera). Also, 4 weeks is getting a bit late, unfortunately.

Agree. When my wife lost her phone I asked carrier about this, and their answer was a straight "Sorry, we can't do that". I wish there's an app out there that tied the IMEI to a GPS tracker that's made available for consumer use, though that in itself can probably cause a different issue altogether.
