I just noticed. Odex files against each apk in system/app path.
I have rooted stock rom 2.3.6
Is it ok?

Of course its 'ok' bro..its just a proprietary file for apk.. all apps in stock rom is odexed for fast launch..but it's uncustomizeable...

Is it any any different when deleting apps from system/app on an odex rom rather than deodex? I noticed the extra file there, Any special method? I'm running stock and rooted.

I recently downloaded a boat free stock rom and the video player is now gone. I really liked using it, can anyone upload the apk or show me where I can download it?

Copy both these files to system/app. It should work ! They are odexed though so maybe not if your rom is deodexed

my rom is deodexed.....still safe to install or no?
I'd give it a shot and copy it over. If it doesn't work, just delete the files. I am usually running the deodex apps and roms but but unfortunately haven't tried any ROMS yet on SGS3. Something else you can do is this; just go find another ROM in development thats been deodexed already and download the ROM. Then extract Video Player.apk from the system/app folder and copy it to your system/app folder. Only problem is that you'll have to download a 600MB rom for one file.

yeah you can delete them or just past the original stock over them
Need help modifying vrtheme zip to include system/priv-app for 4.4. I modified vr install script by copy and pasting commands for system/apps and just changed apps to priv-apps.
I also add permissions to updater script to include the priv-apps. But still failed.

This is solved. There is a VRTheme zip updated for 4.4 Roms which includes priv-app. The one I modified was close but had a few mistakes I missed.

If your ROM is Odexed you can see the*.apkand*.odex*file in the app directory. If your ROM is Deodexed you will not see any*.odexfile in the app directory.
In root explorer or Es file explorer
