What cases are a TWO PIECE ?? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I currently have an EVO with the otterbox commuter case..
It's a two piece construction..
Silicon rubber that wraps around the phone, then it squeezes into a hard plastic case..
Why this is important to me..
I use it as a cycle computer on my bike.. I have the hard plastic case mounted to my bike and just take my phone and put the silicon around it and it secures into the case.. Making a very secure, safe and sleek mount..

I heard there is an otterbox that DOES work with this phone.. As long as its secured enough (not worried about speaker holes or camera lining up) I would be happy..
What other cases have a similar design?
Thanks

The Samsung Infuse 4G otterbox fits our phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419020
Also the trident aegis is two pieces, just got mine in the mail today. If you're looking to do the same as the bike picture with this phone I think trident aegis is your best bet.

hey.. How does the Trident Aegis work??
Its a two piece as you say, after putting the rubber silicon on and then putting it into the hard plastic, does it feel super secure?
Like it takes very hard pressure to take it out.. right?
Thanks

Both Ballistic & Seidio are two piece. I love my Seidio....

There is no possible way the hard shell comes off without the intention of removing it. Very very solid fit.
I couldn't see any possible way it would come out during biking, even during very rough off road conditions (I know that's a road bike, just saying)

The ballistics case would work for that. I have one and it holds on real tight, and its probably the most durable of them all.

Thanks guys!!!!!

Whaaaaat?! You want a cover on TOP of your silicone case Evo? How is that even possible? Wait for the Otterbox dude. Its what you are looking for.

How about this one: http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/d-csl4hev4-hc.htm . It's on the expensive side but the quality should be great and you know for sure that it'll fit...
you need this one

siedio case
yes the siedio case is what im looking for i like the case lke the otterbox with a belt clip but it leaves the sceen exposed... and i don't like that tanks for the info..... the siedio cas is what i'll prob. get.... thank you
im using silicone gel from sprint and over that when im at work i use a leather pouch also which i found on a local cel phone accesories shop, its not the best fit but does the job if i hit the corners of the pouch with a door or somehing the silicone will protect the phone.
only problem is it takes like 5 seconds to get the phone out of the case =( planing on getting one lil bigger soon
I'm going to say this as often as any one will listen, Seidio may make "okay" cases, but their customer service sucks. Pure and simple, is awful.

I decided to go with the silicon gel also and picked up this case: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290437641635&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
I had one before when I had a Nokia E61i, which is thin, tall and wide. The Evo in the silicon should be a great fit, as it was too big for the Nokia. If you like, I'll report back when I get it (and it's easy to take your phone out due to a cutout in the bottom...)
found a leather case
so was at the mall and of course sprint didn't have a leather case that would fit the eve with the silicone gel on it..... happend to stop by T-mobile beacause they have the HD.... and what do you know there case fits like a glove with the silicone cover on.... its just the right size..... happy now....
Good deal! It pays to look in multiple places. I did end up getting my Krusell case and it fit very well, as expected. Another friend of mine saw it and decided he wanted one (I tested the fit with his phone.) I gave him mine and ordered another one...

Any new cases coming from popular brands?

So, is there any new cases coming out from popular brands other than Otterbox?
I used this one from swiss army and it fits the captivate perfectly.

BUMP! May be something new coming up?
otterbox released their impact series case.. but no defender as of yet
Incipio just came out with a case for the captivate. I have one of their hard cases for my Zune HD and am very happy with the quality. I'm tempted to pick up one for my Captivate. Right now I'm using an Invisibleshield but wouldn't mind a little more protection.
I just got the Otterbox Impact case for the Captivate not ten minutes ago in the mail. Shipping was ok, I ordered it last Thursday. Seems really solid and thick enough that it could take a decent impact or drop. I like it so far but the increase in size will have to grow on me. It's not a ridiculous increase, puts it about to the size of a 3GS iPhone really. Other than that it comes with a screen protector and has a good feel in your hands. I got it for right under $18.00 with shipping using the coupon code "tb1010y".
Check this and this. These look pretty solid, and are very reasonably-priced!

Bought this case in the mall at a kiosk.
http://store.mybat.com/smoke-argyle-candy-skin-cover-18120.html
1. That design, barely visible. It's actually A LOT darker case. Especially when on the phone.
2. It's thick flexible plastic. Hard Gel-like. Not a rubber skin that gets caught up in your pocket.
3. It's the exact same shape as the phone. A true "skin'.
4. Light. Adds almost no additional weight to the phone.

IDK about the first one, but the snap on case isn't that good. I have the black version. The snaps are broken in several spots, the case opens itself when dropped (what good is that?), and occasionally when pulling out of my pocket the case is literally falling off.
YMMV, but if I had to do it again, I'd avoid the Amzer rubberized snap on case at all costs.
Body Glove TPU case is all you need.

Case-mate safe case and tough case, in stock on amazon.co.uk

Ordered yesterday night on the,UK amazon, order being fulfilled by moderntech, received my tracking number this morning. They also have the samsung item mesh and leather case along with case-mate screen protectors.

Thanks for the info - just ordered mine!
What case mate case would you recommend. Had a look on amazon and found quiet a few to choose from!
Hi,
I got my case-mate tough case the best one in my opinon with two layer protection and really good grip finish.
I have had this case on all my previous phones and what i like the most is the raised edges around the screen in case you drop your phone it won't land on its screen.
a5ian300zx
I was looking at that, what do you think it will be like with the overheating problem with the phone? Will the case make it worse?
I got the safe case as well as the tough case coming in the mail. Has anyone ever used a case-mate safe case? I like tpu cases; they don't collect dust or stick in your pocket. Is the safe case like a typical silicone case or a tpu?

I just ordered one myself, thanks for the heads up!
I ordered mine a few days ago but its got a long trip getting from the UK to the west coast on the el cheapo shipping. I believe it might be strapped to the back of a sea turtle right now... lol
i like the look of the "Barely There Hard Snap-On Case Cover" think i'm going to order that one
cheers for the suggestion!

I tried the safe case, it's a moulded rubber case, good fit, not too tight as i found on some cases this means it pings off. it has a smooth finish which isn't tacky, but at a 45 degree angle won't slide off your hand either.
nice product but to me it was a little thin, as i think in a fall it will cushion, but NOT absorb the impact, if your a careful owner it looks the sex, and work well for light falls. If you're like me and in and out of the car all the time and on building sites i recommend the Tough as the size difference is small but will offer a much stronger protection solution.

Looking for a Case recommendation

I know there are a lot of threads already about cases for my Samsung G II (Epic 4G Touch)
Heres the thing. I don't want a huge case. Why get a sleek thin phone just to put a bulky case on it?
What are some suggestions for a minimalist case that is better than just putting a sticker on it?
There are a few choices that I have found...
Hard Snap on Case - very thin but doesn't protect from drops very well
soft thin case very thin but I would imagine it would be hard to get in and out of a pocket from it "sticking" to your pants.
Trident Aegis case not as thin as the others, but definitely not bulky. Very good protection, no kickstand however.
Casemate Pop White case with kickstand pretty much like the aegis with a kickstand. I have one but I am not impressed with the build quality of the silicone. It flakes off in places due to the friction of pulling it out of a pocket.
For the "sticker" route the best I've found is:
Full Body Invisible Shield This will protect from scratches but not drops, etc.
Got one of these a few months ago and couldn't be happier.

This is the case i have had since the phone came out. Love the case! Sleek, slim and protects your phone. There is a whole thread about this case. Price is great too. I highly recommend it!!
Hope that helped. Happy Hunting.

I would personally have to say the Trident Ageis, very close to the otterbox line but available in more colors...plus they are a tad cheaper as well...
doesn't really get more minimal than this. I have one on all 3 of my phones. comes in different colors.

I disagree. The matte version of Diztronic's (formerly TPU Cases) case does not stick at all. There is just enough of a texture to feel like you have a solid grip, but smooth enough that it never sticks in your pocket.
I have the same requirements in a case as the OP, and I think a TPU case is a great idea. It has protected my phone from a handful of short falls onto a variety of surfaces without an issue.
I purchased the case after reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266308
I believe the overwhelming majority of reviews are positive for the case. Check out the Diztronic's page here: http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36&products_id=147
I am curious about the Nillkin case, but considering they seem to be only available when ordering from China, and that in the past, I've had snap-on cases scratch phones, I am worried. Here is a review of a Nillkin case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485054
Buy a few different ones and figure out what you like best. I tried a few different styles of tpu/rubber case and ended up with a trident aegis. My phones in the past all had minimal rubber case or none but it just feels right on this phone.

That looks like a great case, does it have a built in screen protector? Is it too grippy to slip in and out of a pocket when you aren't using the holster?
It looks like he has a separate screen protector installed, so I'd say no.

Yup wyatyoss, its the sp from the otterbox commuter. Only negative for me is it doesn't fill the whole screen but aside from that its a really tough and scratch resistant protector.
Thanks cade80, its a great case and I recommend it if ur looking for a rugged and functional case and holster. Its not too grippy at all really, goes in and out of pockets just fine as long as its not cramped in with other stuff.

It's a little grippy, but still easily goes in/out of your pocket. The only complaints I have are:
1. The rubber part is a lint magnet. Not a big deal since it wipes off pretty easily.
2. The clip on the holster hooks on a rubber part of the case. It makes it pretty difficult to holster the GNex with one hand since the clip catches the rubber part. It would be nice if the case had plastic at the top so it would just click in to the holster.
Despite these little flaws, it's a great setup. I mainly use the holster at work so I don't have to worry about it getting nasty while in my sweaty pockets. lol.
Bought two for both mine and my Bros gnex. Its really nice got both for 22$ each at www.versiomobile.com I love it... he thinks it slips too easily out of the hand.

I use this case with the verizon lte version + extended battery.. it's tight, but works..
I've had this case now for months.. I rarely use the kickstand sadly.. however the kickstand is a bit weak and the phone leans a little more than I would like while using the kickstand.. but its the best option I've found thus far..
