Rooted my desire way last year and have enjoyed using a number of roms since...
Yesterday I quick look at a couple of the ICS roms, which were nice but clearly not ready for primetime, so started to look at a more recently update gb rom to replace the update-oxygen-2.3.2-Bravo-signed.zip that I've been using.
The MildWild V-3.0 xperia Launcher & MildWild V-3.0A Launcher2 look liked a decent bet, but of course failed as I hadnt read through the whole post and failed to take into account "do a clean installing and please keep in mind the ROM is to big for the oxygen hboot use CM7r2 Hboot"
What is the process for updating the HBOOT?
Here is the steps I taken so far, but without much sucess
Jumped over to http://alpharev.nl/ and followed the precess there, booting into fastboot I now see:

So I'm assuming that this is done correctly and I just have to now grab the required HOOT files and update - this is where I get a little lost
I have grabbed bravo_alphaspl-cm7r2.img.zip & PB99IMG_cm7r2.zip
renaming PB99IMG_cm7r2.zip to PB99IMG.zip, drop onto sdcard and started the phone in HBOOT to flash the HBOOT, but this gives me
CID incorrect!
Update Fail
Have doubled checked using a file manager that the isnt named PB99IMG.zip.zip as some suggest
and have tried to follow this post here but am at a complete loss with it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14668785&postcount=2575
installed the HTC USB Drivers
Installed the Android SDK Manager and have the Google USB Driver package, Android SDK & Platform Tools installed...
then boot into BOOTLOADER, connect phone... and ... no idea, not sure what my PC is supposed to do or if there is a console I can open must have missed something as I just cant seem to workout "Then you boot your phone into bootloader, connect it to your pc and select the downloaded hboot-drivers."
Am sure there is something just outta reach, any help appreciated
You're on the stock sized hboot, so you dont actually NEED to change it for any of these ROMS.
Best bet is using fastboot flash from your PC IMHO. Flash the .img file. Read the adb and fastboot faq in my signature (Skipping the ADB bit as this is nto relevant here)

A few days ago a mate of mine employed me to help him root his new toy. After doing mine multiple times (for various reasons) it was supposed to a piece of cake.
My method (I may have missed a point or two but you get the main idea):
1. Unrevoked
2. Install Titanium Backup, full backup
3. Copy entire SD contents
4. Install Rom Manager / Partition SD Card
5. Copy rom over to SD Card and install
6. Upgrade radio
7. From rom restore stuffs and go nuts
(optional but wanted to do)
8. S-OFF via bootable USB stick
Anyway turns out almost every step of the way was hampered because of new hardware. Here's the HBoot screen details:

For anyone else that has a desire with these specs please save yourself a lot of time and "oh ****" moments and know the following:
- Clockwork recovery will not work, you need to flash ArmonRa via the SDK with fastboot.exe OR via Unrevoked, before plugging in your phone go File > Choose alternate recovery and link it to AmonRa which you downloaded.
- Rom manager will not work (as it relies on ClockworkRecovery)
- SD Card partitioning and Upgrading to EXT3 needs to be done in AmonRa Recovery.
- Current S-OFF methods will not work and will send black lines across your HTC Boot splash screen. S-OFF tool reports failure at step 3. Ripping the battery and then restoring via recovery is the only fix.
Cheers.
I have a pvt4 and use clockwork

Sounds bad...But it should not take much time till there is a working solution for this
i have that type of desire.
and i have encounter no problem on rooting unrevoked /s-off with alphaville 1.5
i have used various roms (auraXsense and hd roms Rcmix, ownhere dhd)
used amonra and clockmodwork....at least 30 times
i have used 3,4 radio versions and upgraded to the latest 5.11.05.27
everything works and stable with richard v5f kernel and rcmix 14 + set cpu....
and they are working.
it is exactly your specification
except that now mine is S-off.
spec seems the same except
Bravo Pvt3 ship S-off but maybe is from the s-off procedure

really i do not know if it was before pvt4 or what pvt3/4 means...
anyway i want to know considering maybe i will encounter future desire and maybe you are right... and it is possible that they are not working.
you cold try a Ruu update and try again the all process maybe something went wrong somewhere
You not seen the rather LARGE thread in General about this??
I have the same specs on my Desire and the latest clockwork(2.5.1.2) works. I'm not S-Off.
I flashed 6-7 roms with no problems.
I didn't use RomManager,so I don't know, but partitioned the sd card from recovery, under advanced options with no problems.
Only happens on some PVT4 devices (two different types), and there is already a thread about this.
My PVT4 has clockwork, S-OFF, root, custom splash1, etc.

Yea there is definitely a new model i have the same problems. Clockwork Recovery dont work only Amon Ra and Alpharev dont work either. Stops at step 3 everytime saying:
"Could not push the initial files during step 1. this is most likely a permissions error on your data partition.
We have tried our best to circumvent this, but most likely your ROM is either not rooted properly, causing failure.
Your best option is to backup everything, and flash a custom ROM that is properly rooted and has ADB root.
Remember: your HBOOT is NOT S-OFF, and it is not bricked."
I have searched for hours and give up finding a workingsolution to the problem.
Long story short - Installed the latest OTA update manually by bypassing signature verfication on a rooted Froyo phone (still not entire sure how I did this, but I'll get back to this later).
The phone currently does boot loops repeatably. I can enter Hboot and menus Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage and SIMlock.

Rooted with unrevoked 3 (I think)...
I installed Andriod SDK and ADT plugin for Eclipse on my WinXP PC.
USB Connectivity
My USB connectivity have three running USB scenarios
1. Then boot looping the HDD Icon show up momentarily but am unable to access it. In control panel the HDD works fine. I assume the SD Card is dismounted.
2. In Hboot mode, only Unrevoked USB drivers would install for then connecting the phone with a USB cable to the computer.
3. In Fastboot mode, only Google USB drivers (from the SDK) worked.
Though, there should be connectivity then applying the "ADB shell" command it detects no device in either boot mode. Either does the RUU Toolkit or Unrevoke 3.21.
Signature verification failed
I have a micro SD adoptor, so I have tried various ROMs and run recovery mode attempting to flash the phone. Depending on which ROMs the signature verifications make different progress (0-20 %).
What is funny, is that what allowed me to install the OTA in the first place was toggle the verification off. But, I have no idea how I did this. I do not have an alternative recovery manager installed. Though, it seems something from deleted from the update due to the install being an OTA. And that there might have been an alternative recovery mode.
I have been unable to "recovery-windows.bat" trick as no USB connectivity!
The latest PB99IMG file is currupt as that would be my last attempt. If anyone have this working please send it my way. Also, I have downloaded a 168 MB version of this file but I do not know what to do with it!?
I hope someone finds this a challenge and can help out! I have almost given up...
Cheers
Do a search on here for how to apply the PB99IMG.

Thanks for the heads up. I know this is a quite common post hence my frustration with nothing working.
I emphasized that the PB99IMG from the server is corrupt (10x download attempts) and if anyone could email a functional file?
Email a 168MB file?? Good luck with that one!!
Download this:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N03CIN0U
And then read the Word document I attached to this thread. It explains how to get the PB99IMG file from an RUU:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10509780&postcount=102
The reason you can't 'turn off signature' is because the OTA has flashed the stock recovery back on. Yet another example of why you should NOT FLASH AN OTA ON A ROOTED PHONE!!
Hi,
on my desire I'm running Cyanogen Mod 7.10 with it's dedicated hboot partition table and hboot 0.93.1000.
So far everything went fine but yesterday the usb port screwed up. So I'm not able to charge the phone anymore nor establish a usb connection.
To send it back to htc I'd like to flash a stock t-mobile rom and remove the s-off and all the other thinks which might be suspicious.
As far as I read and understood, I need to
1. flash the Bravo Downgrader from Alpharev to recovery the original partition table. To do so I put this file on the sd card, named it PB99IMG.zip and pressed vol down and power. Then it tells me that the cid is incorrect?
- does anyone know why?
2. if this was successful I should install a stock rom. I downloaded RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.0 6.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
which should be for entire Europe hopefully. But this is an exe file and if I extract it there's only a cab file which shows up and I don't know which one I am supposed to transform to a zip file. Or isn't this possible at all?
hope someone can bring light into my darkness of not getting it right.
greetz
macx
I don't know too much about this, as I am trying to stumble my way though it myself without bricking my HTC Desire. However, i do know that inside the CAB file you mention, there is a file called rom.zip. This file contains all the images you require to flash your device.
So after opening up the exe file (I refer to RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe which is what I am using) you get a folder (RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865). Inside this there is yet again another folder (Disk1). Inside this folder exists Data1.cab (archive) and inside Data1.cab (I used ScanZip to open it) there is rom.zip.
Check these links for more detailed instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575448 (looks slick)
http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
Like I said, I've very little idea about this and I'm still reading up, but I figured this information may help you. Best of luck, HTH.
The instructions from here worked flawlessly.
androidforums (DOT) com (FS) htc-desire (FS) 177907-froyo-2-09-405-8-update-windows-not-required (DOT) html
change (DOT) and (FS) to . and / respectively. I'm not allowed to post this many URLS incase I'm spamming. I followed this, and in 5 minutes I had my phone as it was when HTC sold me it.
Make sure you have a good amount of battery. Best of luck.
Here is "How to Extract the ROM from an RUU".
thanks for your replies. At the moment the battery is to weak to give it a try again.
But I'll follow these steps as soon as I found someone who can charge my battery in his phone. ^^

Hi again,
I got my battery charged now and was able to extract the rom.zip from the original ruu.
For those who are interested in how I did it. I simply started the ruu***.exe and search my profile folder for a rom.zip.
So far so good.
Then I rename it to PB99IMG.zip and start the bootloader by pressing vol down and power. It finds the zip file and starts loading it.
Then I get the message "Main version is older! Update fail!"
I'm stuck here, because I don't know what exactly this means. What is the main version? and what else can I try to get back to the factory defaults?
edit:
the first time I tried flashing RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed
it loaded the zip file, then rebooted did the same loading procedure again and then the ""Main version is older! Update fail!" message came up.
If I try it again with now with the same file there is no reboot but the error messages pops up directly. And I realised
that I've got a new bootloader.
now it says:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Mar 29 2010, 21:34:33
For me it looks like it flashed the other HBOOT but didn't flash the rom.
Do you guys have an idea?
Greetz
Macx
ok,
i keep on trying.
I also tried to flash RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
first it didn't work because of CID incorrect error message.
After creating a goldcard and trying it again it worked and flashed the rom.
Now my phone runs this version just fine and I gave it a try again to flash the original T-Mobile. This is the lastest version available in the xda Wiki.
Same error again.
Main version is older! Update fail!
What I still do not understand, is what exactly is meant by main version. I got this
error even when there was no rom installed at all. So could it be possible that the rom version is meant by this message?
Even if so, do you know where I can get a T-Mobile version which is newer then the one I tried a million times?
Help is really really appreciated

Hello, I am from UA (bad english, sorry)
Help me to ressurection my phone
If I created a theme is not there where you do not delete, just move please
My problem -
I bought the phone htc desire with it, there was
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
Assembly - IC GS v48
Number Browser - WebKit/533.1
When buying a salesman said that if you decide to change the flash, the phone will not work. I asked about this in the forum, I was told that all the garbage - I.
Changed, the phone on a white screen that says WTC is not.
I read, I decided to do as it is written here (on 4pda), at first just like that, then pre-GoldKard with (in this manual HTC Desire - Firmware (OS 2.2 )
Note - when there was a setting that is written sections instalit there botloader, radio systems, etc. So the graph has written in red systems - fail
The result is the same - the phone on a white screen that says WTC is not.
Did a similar way through apdeyt.zip with fastbuta
In general, it began to check the package and then install and start it aborts installation aborted with an inscription
no matter how much I have not tried.
Has repeatedly wipe the hard rezet (and repeated again) out of rekaveri and all without success
I remind you to include your phone I can not (continue to label WTC on a white background). Accordingly, attempts to make Ruth rekavari change, etc. unsuccessful (as in this way need to go to the phone, and I can not go there)
Attempted to flash the phone via an exe
I tried these exe
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_

ned
RUU_Brav2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_124865
It came to the boot loader
And in all cases, the error 4eh 155, which says that we should find the ROM file, but not this one.
PS also suspect that the problem with drivers installed. Operating System costs - vin7, x64 - write about it everywhere that the problem with drivers
tried all the drivers that he could find - adb.driver.htc, android usb driver, usb_driver.
when you install the drivers PdaNet - again to turn the phone that I can not do
Tried and KFOR driver - also asks Feil cheto there with Java-related
P.S.2 - the basis for the gold card was the packaging of the phone with the words orange. And so I do not know whether it is necessary to me
P.S.3 - the phone is standard rekavari android 3. fastbute spelled in such infa:
alphaRev CM7 r2

Definitely not a pricked phone. You have to flash original RUU. Do it via .zip, as you can't start the Android. Then root it, then flash new radio, bootloader and recovery. Did the same 3 days ago. Was on t-mobile soft. Now fully unbranded. Yehaaaa.

If your Hboot is 6.93.1002 ... You need to downgrade your hboot... go to alpharev site and download Hboot_Downgrade and than flash that Hboot.. once you come back to 0.93 than you can flash the ROM or RUU.
here is the downgrader download link its PB99IMG so just download and put in your sd card and fastboot, will take you back to Bravo Hboot

Hi,
I don't really know where to start and have no idea what actually causes the issue, please just bare with me guys as I badly need your help.
Here's the thing;
My Phone was rooted way back using unrevoked method (as far as I remember)
> Radio was upgraded to the latest (afaik)
> I have created a cheap generic GoldCard with Ext2 & 3 which is kind of slow and so I decided to try different kinds of Custom ROM.
> I recently installed GingerVillain (GingerBread2.3.4).
> I enabled apps to sd for protected apps using the Terminal I downloaded from Market.
> I was on the process of moving apps to sd (including those when it suddenly started bootlooping. After 4x of loops, I decided to remove the battery. From there I know something went wrong.
> I normally would just go to clockwork recovery and do the reinstallation process in rectifying such issue, but to my surprise I was not able to boot into recovery as well and stucked in Fastboot & Hboot and if I try to boot normally, then it will be up to HTC logo only.
> I also noticed that security flag was turned on (S-ON) wherein it was turned off when I bought it and still Off after I rooted using unrevoked method.
> When I checked the SD it was corrupted already and had to format & repartition it using Ubuntu's Gparted Partition Utility. (I bought a new one as a replacement but was unable to make it a GoldCard as it probably requires that it is inside your phone and running in OS)
>> Did some research for few days and here's what I've tried so far. <<
- Tried to use AlphaRev to turn off the security but was unsuccessful since it requires that you have to be inside the OS (ROM) which is not possible at the moment.
- Tried to use RUU to just unroot it and get back to zero but still unsuccessful, it encountered USB Connection Error....many times.
- Tried getting the rom.zip inside RUU and renaming it to PB99IMG.zip, loaded it using hboot but still unsuccessful, it says CID Incorrect! Update Fail.
- I read that downgrading Hboot would most likely resolve the issue but I really have no idea how to do it, no clear steps are roaming out there upon doing my research.
- Some says, you can push the ClockWork using ADB but doing it actually fails....Error....and no clear steps.
I don't really know what kind of issue(s) I am facing now guys.
I am totally on the edge of my seat.
I must have been missing something along the way...(I know I am)
If somebody would be helpful enough to point & show the way in resolving this issue, that would be greatly appreciated (step by step maybe).
These are the details in my Hboot UI that would hopefully helps (if that will make sense).

So Sorry for the long delay...been busy and Sick these past days...
Ok here goes.
The steps will be assuming that we have "Exactly" the same issue so if ever along the way you think that something might have gone different then I suggest you discontinue following the steps as you might end up with a Totally Bricked Desire. (which I am not liable of )
Credits to the people who created ALL steps I have copied and pasted in here!
Here's what I did in my case;
(**Make sure your unit is totally charged up)
Step 1:
Downgrade Hboot & Unroot (restore shipped ROM) your device;
- Get the latest RUU for your region (make sure it is for your region) from Shipped Roms. (remember to check the md5 sum, we don't want to download a corrupted file )
- Run the RUU as administrator.
- When it gets to the portion of asking you to plugged in the device,, click Start and type %temp% in the search box, it will come up with a folder named Temp,,Open it.
- Using the search bar (again) in the temp folder that we just opened, type in rom.zip when you see rom.zip, move it to desktop or anywhere you like, then you can cancel the opened RUU process.
- Create GoldCard (other threads doesn't suggest to use a GoldCard YET as the ROM will run even without a GoldCard, but in my case...Ordinary SD Card doesn't work for me at all leaving me in creating a GoldCard). Format the SD Card to FAT32 afterwards.
- Rename the rom.zip to PB99IMG.zip
- Copy it to the SD Card root
- Boot to Hboot (Vol- plus Power)
- Hboot will then detect the zip and will load it up, Wait for few minutes and grab a cup of coffee .
- When it finds PB99IMG.zip, it starts to load it;
It gives the next options after few minutes from the initial key press of Vol- and Power key.
Parsing………………….[SD zip]
1. Bootloader
2. Radio V2
3. Radio_Cust
4. Boot
5. Recovery
6. System
7. Userdata
8. Splash1
9. Splash2
Do you want to update device?
<Vol Up> Yes
<Vol Down> No
and so we would want to choose Yes
During the Process, it will reboot and will reload PB99IMG.zip again and will continue with its process....if ever you got stucked into HTC screen again after it reboots during the process, you can pretty much remove the battery then boot to Hboot again and it will continue with its thing.
If it asks for a reboot, choose Yes.
If you pressed Yes, then:
Update is in progress..
Do not power off your device.
1. Bootloader -OK
2. Radio V2 -OK
3. Radio_Cust -OK
4. Boot -OK
5. Recovery-Unzipping/Updating
6. System
7. Userdata
8. Splash1
9. Splash2
If it asks for a reboot again, choose Yes.
On rebooting, HTC screen shows up for a few seconds.
Then a green Down arrow in a green circle shows up for another 5-6 seconds.
Then, HTC screen again.
Finally, HTC screen disappears and the HTC Quietly brilliant logo shows.
Your device now boots into the Android phone.
DONE with Step 1...your phone is now unrooted, Hboot downgraded and is back into its Shipped State.
**If you encountered error during the initial loading of PB99IMG then chances are the ROM you downloaded might not be the one for your device, remember that the ROM vary from region to region so you must make sure you have downloaded the right one....
Step 2:
S-Off your device
- AlphaRev will guide you here
**no need to NANDROID since you don't have anything to...
**This thing will actually install its customized CWM Recovery which you'll find it COOL......& will also upgrade your Hboot again
Step 3:
It's time to ROOT your phone again.
- Use Unrevoked Method,,,the EASIEST way as far as I know.
Step 4:
Flash a custom ROM....I'm pretty sure you know how to do it.
I suggest flashing GingerVillain 2.7 [GingerBread 2.3.4] (not 2.8,,,still BETA I think)
- Make use of AlphaRev's Customized CWM Recovery.....in my case I partitioned the SD Card using AlphaRev's Customized CWM Recovery instead of using Linux's Gparted Utility (choose 2gb of partition if you have a bigger SD Card Space and 512mb of swapping)
- In making sure everything will work well...I did the following things;
>> Restart CWM after formatting and partitioning the SD Card.
>> Resatrt CWM after wiping.
>> Restart CWM after copying the custom ROM to SD Card.
DONE...The Rest is up to you.
To Moderators and Geeks in here......please correct any steps I have provided in here if you find it a bit OFF so as to help others who have encountered same issue as I had.....Thanks.
CREDITS TO ALL HARDWORKING PEOPLE AT XDA WHO TOOK THE TIME AND INITIATIVE TO POST ALL STEPS POSSIBLE IN RESOLVING SUCH ISSUES....
GOD BLESS YOU GUYS.
Edit:
I have learned that buying Cheap and Crappy Sd Card will not actually save you money but will further make your day worst.........so my suggestion is to buy the BEST one......just think of it as an investment (LOL!)
Comments?? Anyone???
