So I'm running CM9 on my GSM GNex, and all of a sudden I saw that my phone was completely full (memory-wise). Upon further investigation, I saw that clockworkmod was taking up 8.9GB of space. My question is can I delete this folder. Will it kill my root/ phone?

You should check first. It holds all of your nandroid backups and ROM downloads. Probably shouldn't start blindly deleting that.
I only keep one backup at a time because nandroid backups take up a lot of space.

Bingo. I think my last nandroid was 2.7GB. I keep one on the phone, and transfer the others to DropBox so I can grab them if I run into serious issues and need to revert back.
To answer the original question, though, you most certainly can delete that folder; it will not kill your phone - though you won't be able to restore your nandroid backups (since they'll be gone).

I'm wondering how to read / extract a filename.ext4.win file?
Using Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit, i recently flashed AOKP's JB build 2 to my Gnex, and wiped my phone in the process (intentionally).
The phone works great with the new ROM and all. but I forgot that my data folder also got wiped, and with it all my savegames for various apps.
Before flashing I used the tool to make a nandroid ("Nandroid backup /w Custom Recovery"), and I'm guessing I can find the files I need in that backup. The tool saved the backup as [data/cache/system/recovery].ext4.win files.
I have tried using ext2explore to read the data file, but it doesn't show anything.
TL;DR
How can I read a ext4.win file in Windows?

I don't know how it's usually done, but this tool saves it in 4 "ext4.win" files and a "recovery.emmc.win" file.

As it says in OP: yes I used the toolkit (Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit) to make a nandroid, because it makes it easier (for me) to backup, wipe and flash with a single click.
The toolkit's thread is in a dev section, which I'm not allowed to post in due my "noob" status on these forums.

I says that the filesystem is not supported.
Twrp also saves nandroids in this extension.
Op: use titanium backup to load up the nandroid (menu -> extract from nandroid backup).

Ah Team Win - that's right, it's what the toolkit uses for backups. Thanks.
I had to get the paid version of TB to use the extraction, extracted only data and it worked to some extend. Some of my games got their savegames restored, but e.g. TinyStation did not - Which is the game I'm most eager to restore the savegames to. I also tried to extract app+data for this one, but it didn't work.

Not all games work with backup programs. Which really sucks. But tb is a GREAT app to have, especially the purchased version.
BTW, was it a different ROM you flashed or was it an updated ROM you flashed? If it WS an update, you might be able to restore your nandroid and then flash the update.

Sucky. I emailed the developer asking where the savegames are stored, so let's see if they'll be able to help.
Yea, TB is great - definitely my backup app from now on.
It was an updated ROM. I flashed from Kang's JB build 1 to build 2.
But yea, restoring the nandroid and flashing without wiping is the next step, but it ****ed my phone last time, so I was hoping to avoid messing around with it again.
Actually I might just have realized why it didn't work the first time. =)
I'll give then app dev 'till tomorrow, and then I'll restore and reflash.

Could you restore the nandroid? I made a backup using Wugfresh tool and now I can't restore the files. The files are like yours, not disc image. I hope you can help me restore the backup. Thanks.

I have done some searching and other threads didn't exactly answer my question.
I understand that a Nandroid backup will take you back to the way your phone was before flashing a ROM.
My question is does that include all the installed apps? So like I have my SMS Backup & Restore, Defender II, and Dolphin Browser (just to name a few of the many). So does the Nandroid backup all these apps as well, or just what is on the internal memory?

A nandroid backup is an exactly image of your kernel, system, data, and boot image as well. Your user applications are stored inside the data partition that means yes your applications are in your nandroid too.

YAY Thanks you! I finally got everything working with my current ROM and wanted to experiment with some of the Jelly Bean ROMs, but wanted to make sure all my work wasn't going to go to waste, lol.
Keep in mind though, Nandoid back ups don't always flash/restore like it was before. It's a good temporary fix if something messes up, but not (in my opinion) a permanent solution.
If restored using backups a few times and they always came out buggy, I only use them in case of emergency!

If it at least restores the ROM itself and everything with that I am fine, which is what I knew it would at least do. Having all my apps there is just a plus! xD
It won't backup your images and songs, and it doesn't come out buggy.

I try to keep this files on the external as a necessary precaution in case anything ever goes, even when running stock ROM, lol. Thanks though
I just rooted today, and everything went alright (as far as I know). I wanted to download a ROM, so I backed up and it went fine. I downloaded the 1/1 nightly build for the CyanogenMod, but I got stuck at the boot screen, so I restored my backup, and tried 12/31. Again I had issues (this time there was something about setups going wrong once I got past the boot screen). I restored my backup and it went fine this time as well. Then I found the 10.0 stable version, and everything went fine, except this time everything was default and none of my previous settings were retained, nor my apps. I attempted to restore again, but now it says:
Couldn't open directory.
No files found.
I'm completely new to everything about this, so a lot of terminology I've found in related help threads has flown over my head. I followed the instructions in qbking77's cyanogenmod installation video. (I'd link this, but I can't because of the spam policy on these forums).
Now I'm wondering if it's possible to restore the files I previously let in my internal sdcard. It'd be awesome if I got some help with this issue, and thanks in advance.
Flashing cm 10.1 or any 4.2 rom moves your internal storage to the 0 folder. There is tons of info about it around here.

So are you trying f to restore data from another backup? The no directory coming from your Recovery? Which recovery you using? Also for the future, if you are i treated in. Arrting over data for all you apps with CM builds, you should look into buying Titanium Backup. Little pricey, but after 3 years, I still use everyday (so do most people here)

I previous lay backed up on CWM, before my 3 attempts at downloading the Cyanogen mod. When I attempt to recover from my internal sdcard, it says that the files can't be found or that the sdcard can't be mounted. I had previously downloaded the free version of that, I believe, but I was following the instructions an aforementioned video, which said to use CWM.
Never mind, I've fixed the problem by moving all the contents of the 0 folder into the main phone folder. Thanks!

Well you can backup your data and restore afterwards (use Tianium Backup for this), but the thing is that funky issues come up when you do that. Especially if its across different android versions (ics to jb, etc). I would suggest to just reinput what you can and only restore things like SMS, Calendar events (if not synced), etc, only small things like that
Ok I use Nandroid recovery to restore my phones instead or a backup app simply because (1) I'm a cheap bastage and (2) nandroid works from one phone to another as long as I root it, and I have a question. How do I delete a nandroid backup? I have three on the phone right now and I want to delete them and make a new one.
If its on the sd card somewhere, PLEASE be as specific with the file path as possible because I'm as literate about these things as a dead frog.
Al that I am sure of is rooting my Epic is easy as long as I watch qbkikng videos and whoever made cwm recovery is a friggin genius
Nandroid backups only work with the same model phone. I.e. you have a nandroid backup before flashing on an Epic, the flashing bricks it so you get a new Epic, you can restore the backup as long as you're rooted. Also the file path using CWM recovery is /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup

Thanks, I know it only works with the same model phone, that makes sense to me I got my second replacement Epic in 6 days yesterday and had to root it to make it work the first one wouldn't connect to the network so it was defective according to Spring and this one basically was a good as a dead cat before root, now it runs like a champ but Titanium backup dumped 70% of my apps, so luckily for me I remembered make a nandroid backup only thing is now that everything is updated, I want to make a NEW backup just in case.

Is your current phone the same as the phone you're getting tomorrow? If they are exactly the same, nandroid is the best way.

+The "Thanks" you get from me is not just thanks, but can be laughing, props, +1, and so on
Just to be clear, only restore the data portion of the nandroid.
And this is only because you are going to remain on cm10.
If you are going to a different version, or different base, you're best off only restoring certain items, such as contacts.
Titanium backup is also highly recommended.

Presuming you know what nandroid and titanium back up do and also both require you to be rooted.
I would suggest nandroid if your old and new phones are of the same make.
Else use titanium backup back up only the "user" apps and transfer the Titanium Backup folder into your new phone and then restore.
I do the same and frankly for me it is trouble free.

Baseband is your modem which is separate from everything else. It is generally not backed up and you dont have to worry about it.
