Haven't flashed my TP2 ROM lately. Tried a bunch last year and chose one of the Energy versions.
Re-flashed it yesterday to the latest (July, 2011 build?), and I can't remember how to find/download/install the Gmail Java applet.
I thought I browsed to m.google.com/mail and clicked the "Get Faster Gmail" link at the top. Now that just takes me back to a Gmail login screen.
Can anyone help me here? Thanks.
bump? bump?
Why not just use Exchange with GMail?
I honestly have no clue how to help on your actual issue tho, so I haven't chimed in.

Yesterday my phone started showing that I had 1 new text message on the "messages" tab of touchflo, even though I hadn't and there was nothing in the notification tray. I deleted all texts from all folders and rebooted and it is still showing!
I recently installed Advanced Config but have uninstalled it and no change. Any ideas?
Using stock 6.5 ROM (WWE) version 1.86.401.0 (67102). Thanks.

Does anyone search FIRST?
search for a program called fixunreadcount.exe, run it on your phone and it will fix the problem.

Sorry had initially searched quickly, but not using the best terms obviously, and many posts seemed to point to email and were couple of years old.
fixunreadcount.exe and a soft reset did the trick.
Still can't find why it happened in the first place.
Hi All, new here...I have a HTC TP2 with Winmo 6.5 installed. Here's my situation, a couple days ago I used to received emails from my gmail account, now all of a sudden I can just send and not recieved any emails from gmail. My yahoo and hotmail accounts are running fine. Anyone have any ideas why my gmail is not receiving??? I spoke to one of the TMobile reps and it seems all they can do is HARD RESET the device. Any help? thanks in advance
I use Seven for my push e-mail, google, yahoo, exchange all work flawlessly. Have you made any changes to your device around the time it stopped working?
no i haven't changed anything on my phone which is kinda weird, I really don't want to hard reset the phone since restoring things is taking a toll on me. I would like for it to be a last resort but on the other hand I might just end up doing it since Im flirting with the idea of flashing to one of the custom roms here in xda. any ideas?
just my two cents... yesterday I discovered that all of a sudden my Gmail account had disappeared from the account selector (leaving only Outlook), I could still see the emails but couldn't reach account settings or nothing
Somehow it returned, but with most settings in blank.. imap and smtp server, SSL options, all were in blank.. no idea why or how this happened, but filled all blanks up again and now Gmail's working fine...
Trouble w/ Gmail after WinMo 6.5 Sprint upgrade
Just upgraded my Sprint TP2 to WinMo 6.5 today. Why this update took so long to come to Sprint customers is beyond me, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with the update, save one problem that has made me "strategically relocate" my phone with sudden velocity...twice.
I've been trying to set up Gmail since this evening, with zero success. I had my Gmail account set up on the device before the upgrade/update, but now...
I've tried every known method to enter the settings, but whenever the device tries to connect to the Google servers, it tells me I need to check my user name & password, even though I've entered both correctly.
I've even logged into my Gmail account on my laptop, changed the password just to make sure I've entered the correct one, & the device still kicks back to the user name/password screen saying the settings are wrong...I KNOW THAT THEY'RE NOT!!!
I've seen several posts from users experiencing trouble with Gmail on 6.5, but these have all seemed to stem from Wi-Fi vs. other types of connections.
I've also installed Google Sync & my Gmail has DL'd to my device, but I prefer to get my e-mail through the normal account setup.
Sorry so lengthy & thanks in advance for any advice anyone may be able to provide.
not sure if it is googles problem or our phones but i spoke to a couple of people with iphones and gmail accounts and it seems that they arent having any problems receiving their gmails. Did windows take a dump sometime this week?

Not sure if this will help, but... when username is requested, you have to type the complete idem, i.e., [email protected]er ... some time ago I had same problem as yours and solved it after realizing that I was including my username alone, without the @myserviceprovider.com part

Thanx, sirgal. Actually, I had tried both ways - one with just the username and one with my entire e-mail address, both to no avail.
However, I say "had tried" because, lo & behold, today just as I'm about to contact HTC tech support to see if 6.5 was causing Gmail probs, I decided to try creating the account ONE MORE TIME. Murphy's Law prevailed and, for reasons unbeknownst to me...IT WORKED.
I did everything the exact same way as I tried yesterday, but this time success. I'm taking a strictly "don't ask, don't tell" approach as to why it worked today.
Thanks again for the suggestion!
I'm having a similar problem hopefully someone can help with. I've setup my gmail account and had it working fine until without any cause I can determine, the accout disappears except for still showing up on the TouchFlo e-mail "tab." When this first happened, I started from scratch and setup "Gmail2" which also worked for a while. The reason I had to name it Gmail2 is that when I tried to use Gmail as I had originally done it tells me that this name is already in use. It just did this to me again and sure enough, I had to name the account Gmail3 this time around. I don't understand why they are "disappearing" nor why the name is still in use and the previous 2 versions still show up on the TouchFlo e-mail tab and nowhere else.
Odd question, or at least I think it is as this is the closest thread to the actual problem I'm having that I've found here or the HTC forums. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I have the exact same happened to me multiple times in the past. The only solution I found is to restore from a previous backup. Fortunately I backup at least once per week so it wasn't too disastrous but still annoying.
Unfortunately, I haven't ever done a backup (honestly never thought of it for a phone) so that isn't going to help. What I'm hoping for is if someone else has seen this and how to delete the ghost accounts. Thank you wearefree for the help.
Hello all,
In the past week, Opera does not want to stay signed in/logged in to any website, including this one.
Example: I go to my iGoogle page, which should normally just come up, but I need to log in. I log in, my page shows up, great. Then I want to go to Gmail from ny iGoogle, and I have to sign in again. If I want to read an e-mail, log in again. If I want to reply to the e-mail I'm reading, log in again. Just to write this question, I had to log in twice, and I'll probably have to to submit it as well. It's getting annoying.
I have no such problems with Skyfire or the built-in IE. I haven't changed any settings, always make sure I check "stay logged in" if the option is available. I did clear cookies and cache about 2 months ago, but there was no difference until last week. The only things I have added lately were a few of brent's coloured icons. I use Clean Ram almost daily, have for months, and have soft reset at least once a week.
I have a Telus TP2 (CDMA), original ROM, using Opera that's built in.
If anyone knows or has suggestions, they would be appreciated.

I'm not positive on this one, but I'd suspect that Opera's "turbo mode" might be stripping your saved login info...it routes all website data through their servers, so there's a chance that login info won't be persistent through that. To disable that for testing this, just select the "options" menu in Opera, and then un-select the "Opera Turbo" option near the top...then see if once you login one more time, it still doesn't retain that for you.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't change a thing. Had to log in 3 times just to get to this page, very frustrating.
Side note, the "options" menu wasn't where you said it was. I still found it using the search function in "opera:config". Maybe my particular build of 9.5.
Anyone else care to take a shot at it? Or should I just go to a newer version of Opera, and will it overwrite the existing one so it's the default?

Ahh yes I'd assumed you were on 9.7 or higher, didn't realize any versions of the TP2 had 9.5 as the default version.
As I understand it, installing any version of Opera subsequent to the one installed by default on your stock ROM will actually create a completely new discreet install of the new version, and the original will still be on there...that's what happend when I installed 10.
More info can be found on my signature link
Thank you, orb3000, however, you have more than one clickable link in your signature, one of them I obviously was able to eliminate. The Opera thread has 186+ pages, and while I would love to have the time to slog through it, even a search of it yielded no results for my particular predicament.
A hint on approximately which one of those many pages would be appreciated.
Hi,
I tried searching and i could not find anything about it... thus... i created this thread.
My EVO is on stock ROM, i have only had it 2 weeks. I have literally zero apps aside from Google Maps. Since Thursday (Aug 26th) i have been unable to sync my Facebook Notifications via the pre installed Facebook app that comes on the HTC EVO. The error message has happened every single time since then, and i figured it was an issue with the network but a few of my friends have EVOs and have no such issue.
Message is as follows
Cannot retrieve the notifications. Please try again later. [601 /Parser Error: Unexpected '-' at position 64.]

Anyway, i have tried to clear the data and cache, unsync and re sync, and i tried to uninstall the facebook app via the market, but then realized it is not in my Download list nor is it something i can seem to find via the market. It is the pre installed Facebook app and HTC sense.
Please let me know if you guys have any solutions. It is driving me nuts as a lot of co workers keep me up to date via Facebook.
Thanks,
Carl
Have you updated the Facebook app to version 1.3.2? Or are you still on the version which came with the phone?
This is what confuses me. I have yet to update it as I assumed it would do that on its own. Now I am totally new to android so forgive my ignorance, but is the one in the market an update for the one that comes on the evo or a totally diff one?
edit: Well it seems to be a different one as it does not show the one I have in my downloaded market stuff.

The version in the market may not show up as an update if you currently have the version which came with the phone. But I think if you install it it will tell you it is replacing a currently installed version.
What Facebook do u guys use? I liked how the pre installed one worked but I did the update and hate it...
I'm having the exact same problem. I'll follow this thread and hope that somebody will find a soulution.

I stopped having the error when i updated to version 1.3.2
Check to make sure you have the most current version. However, the new version is awful (IMHO), eventually it will get better...
Hope this helps!
Carl,
This error most often happens when access to the site is being blocked from a firewall. Try checking your WiFi router. Even if you have a connection, certain outbound connections could be refused.
I flashed the latest stable CM10 last night and the install went flawlessly. however I noticed that my google contacts did not all drop in. I am about 47 people short of what appears on my account when I log in from the computer. Also, I have a galaxy tab 2 running the stock rom and they all drop in no problem there. I have cleared out the contact cache and I even reflashed just to ensure that there was no hang up on my end but nothing works. It was working fine with all contacts dropping in seamlessly when I was running CM9
any help would be greatly appreciated!!

***** UPDATE *****
okay so I came across a nugget of information that is really baffling me even more. I exported all my contacts from my google account and then i cleared out the contacts cache and then disabled sync. then i downloaded the vcard file to my fone and ran an import from there. the confusion part about this is that in the notification bar showed that it was importing 1449 which is the correct number but when the import completes it only shows 1417. this happens also when I sync. i dissected the csv file as well from the google account and i dont really see any major differences.
im probably more confused now than i was before but at least i have a little bit of direction. would anyone know if there is something built into Jelly Bean that would filter out certain types of contacts? thats the only thing i can think of at the moment.
thanks!!!!!!!
anyone???
