WiFi keeps getting disconnected - LG Nitro HD

Hello all,
i have noticed since the stock ROM and the new one i have put Domination HD the WiFi keeps getting disconnected every 5 minutes or so.. it connects automatically but it interrupts my video streams or downloads..
has anyone faced it and is there any fix?

I've had the same problem with 2 units.
Running CM9 now and it still does it. Pressuring AT&T for an exchange again....

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-fi settings > Press MENU button > Advanced > Wi-fi sleep policy
Change it as you desire. You probably have it set to turn wi-fi off when the screen turns off (default setting).

Had this problem too with my phone when it was new. I changed a setting in my router to allow a longer IP lease time and that fixed it. Set it for 2 weeks.

I'll give it a shot, changing the sleep policy in settings had no effect, it drops every few minutes regardless.

This is the only phone where I had to change router settings to keep a constant connection on Wi-Fi at my house. Hope it works for you.

My wife's phone drops her WIFI connection about three times a day. I checked the option in WIFI settings (WIFI Sleep-Never), that didn't help and I tried messing with my router. Unfortunately I didn't see anything in the router setting about the lease and making it last longer. Where should this be? I have a NETGEAR that my cable company gave me.
p.s. Hey kkernaghan7, what's going on in your profile picture?

Sorry to hear that things aren't working. I'm not up to date with netgear routers but just search for IP lease time, it could be in the dhcp settings for the router. As far as my profile picture goes that was a picture that my ex girlfriend took, I think its funny.

HTC One X WiFi problems solved!

Ok guys so I've been complaining about my WiFi speed and loading time of the phone so far. I have a new router and I've even tried sitting right next to it! But still the same thing!
I'm sure that I'm not the only person who feels that the phone is slightly slow on WiFi out of the box with standard settings.
I have actually solved the problem and It's a very EASY fix! Do the following:
1. Settings>WiFi>Advanced >Tick best WiFi performance.
I did this and honestly is like a new phone! I am so much more happy with the phone. The difference is night & day!
I hope this helps people start loving their One X again!

What about battery consumption with this seting on though?
That was always my biggest concern for not using this setting.
Router Settings
Hi there,
when I got my HOX out of the box at home and connected it vie WiFi to my WLAN Router Fritzbox 7570 vDSL the HOX connected, but it was not possible to bring up a website like www.google.com, and after very little time the whole WiFi network collapsed, with all other clients showing only restricted connection, but no access to the internet anymore....restarting of the router was necessary.
In a German forum someone suggested to switch the WLAN from 2.4Ghz b+g+n to 2.4Ghz b+g which is a setting option with my particular Fritzbox.
I did so, and voila....no problems whatsoever anymore... HOX showing 54Mbits as does my Samsung Gtab 10.1n or my laptop...
just checked when the router is set to WLAN 2.4Ghz b+g+n the HOX shows 11Mbits and the laptop 130Mbits...
Maybe it is a good idea to see if you have a setting on your router to disable the n standard and only run b+g...and report back.
Then you don't need the Best WiFi setting at all...at least I don't need it!

I am quite sure the battery will get a hit. No free lunches.
I do notice when the signal is weak my wifi seems to disconnet and reconnect.
I have just noticed there is another option that says switch network when the wifi signal is weak. I have loads of wifi signals around my area. Maybe it was trying to connect to my neighbours. I have unticked it now (default is ticked!) and see if that issue still comes up.
But the disconnect/reconnect was pretty fast. Nontheless it is still annoying.

Well some people may have devices at home that run at N. Switching the router off to G-only may not be desirable. But as I said above, try unticking the auto switching option. It could be the phone was trying to switch band when it detected the current signal was weak.
Im sure most of us had already tried this. I'm still unable to connect to most networks or my connection gets cut off every 20 minutes or so. HTC rep explained that there must be an issue with the networkS I'm trying to connect to, as he is able to exclude a bardware failure ias a possible cause by virtue of the fact that I'm not entirely unable to connect to a network. He went on to say that you may compare this to a Turbo on a car, it is either broken or in complete working order. I was stunned at his incompetence in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
Bottom line is, it's impossible to get a proper connection on my phone.

For everyone's reference, I am using TP-Link 1043 router on b+g+n mode and my One X is working fine. No need to turn on "Best Wifi Performance" or turn off "Auto Disconnect".

Ok so I will post my battery usage after today of having best WiFi performance on. Seems like it may use an extra 1-2% so far. Will know for sure ay the end of the day.
One thing I can notice is that when I look at the battery stats the WiFi usage bar is solid blue now. Or used to have multiple broken lines through it.

Hi
Have been pulling my hair since day one with this problem and thanks to this thread i must say i'm a bit relieved to see that i'm not alone. Have changed everything in my WiFi settings now and the only thing that have improved it somewhat was when i changed the encryption to just wep.
Now my hopes are with the new upcoming 1.29.

Got same problem
- Changing encryption to WEP (or even none) works
- Changing band (2.4Ghz to 5Ghz) does not work, even when forced to connect to either
It's terrible, I would love a good solution. I will try all three solutions, one at a time:
- Best WiFi
- Auto disconnect
- Remove N-band from router (but why oh why should we do that!!)

Hey guys I've noticed something lately with the WiFi.
If you open an app like tunein radio and browse the web, the WiFi works much better? Seems that the WiFi works better the more the processor is made to work. Anyone else find this?

I've a Dutch model, so it's here:
Instellingen->Wi-Fi->Menu (3dots)->Geavanceerd->Beste Wi-Fi prestaties
In English it's something like this:
Settings->Wi-Fi->Menu(3dots)->Advanced->Best Wi-Fi
btw: The only things that work are:
- have only B and G and to disable N on the router.
- use only WEB as security

If you have ruled out router issues...
I've read that you can try to uncheck the connections optimizer option in More Settings -> Mobile Networks may help.

also, I've noticed my gtalk won't stay logged in at night, regardless of Wi-Fi connected or not

5GHz WiFi not working, well sorta....

Wondering if anyone else is having issues connecting to a 5ghz network? I wasn't able to get it working, wouldn't even show up in available networks. That was stock out of the box, and after flashing a couple ROMs. I'm using slimbean now and am able to connect, but I have to turn WiFi on/off several times on the n7 before it shows up and connects. My s 3 connects no problem.
And I've tried all the standard troubleshooting on the router. Even changed some settings on the 5GHz band.
So if someone could double check for me that would be great!

5ghz works great for me. Reception is the best I've ever gotten on that band. Currently on stock, but it's worked in CM10 too
The 5 ghz didn't show up for me either. Had to manually enter the SSID and it connected right away.

My Nexus 7 connects to my 5ghz router band all the time. I think it actually prefers it. I'm using it right now.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Well I think I have it working. I gave the n7 a static address and now after a half dozen reboots its auto connecting every time. I tried changing channels on the router. Tried 20/40 MHz channel width. Ticked on/off all the options on n7 WiFi settings. Nothing worked. Then I set static address on my tablet and router and like I said so far so good.
I'll update if there are any other issues because doing a search showed a lot of other devices having this issue. But none of the results recommended setting a static address. Maybe I got lucky. I could use my 2.4GHz network reliably but I want full network speed since I only have the 16 GB model and do a lot of folder syncs to keep my SD storage free.
Edit: scratch that. Worked half dozen times in a row. Rebooted after I wrote this and it didn't connect.

During initial setup i was not able to connect to my 5ghz but i was able to connect to my 2.4ghz. After setup was complete i was able to go in and switch it manually to the 5ghz network. If i power the device off and turn it back on it would not connect to my 5ghz or my 2.4ghz. I then went into wifi advanced settings and switched to 5ghz only and it connected immediately to the network and hasn't lost it since. This was true before and after the update, i am stock, unlocked and rooted. I also do not broadcast my ssid.

If I am connected to 5ghz and go in advanced and select 5ghz only, it disconnects me from WiFi. It will still show my 5ghz network in range with good signal but if I now try to connect..it does nothing. Keep clicking connect and nothing happens. Then go back and put frequency on auto and the 5ghz disappears. I then have to toggle WiFi 4-6 times before it connects again to the 5ghz.
Strange.

I had the same problem at first too. Here's what solved it for me: set 5ghz frequency to 20mhz instead of auto, change the channel from auto to any number you want, 5ghz will most likely be completely clear in your area so just choose any channel. After doing that it should see the 5ghz network every time and connect automatically.

I'm not sure. Seems like software to me because once its connected it stays connected. And the signal range is really good. Better WiFi than any phone I've ever had. Better than my laptop too. My s3 has no problems connecting. Even with all the router settings I've tweaked its never had an issue connecting with the s3.
Are you able to connect?
In another thread someone noticed his WiFi settings were set to Europe. He said he hadn't changed them and that he was fresh on stock (his first time booted). Double check your settings if you're still having issues.
Settings | WiFi | advanced | WiFi region code.
Mine was also set to Europe as well for some reason. If your router is setup to use a channel not available in Europe this would cause the problems described here.

And I mean 100% connection rate after 50 toggles and a dozen reboots.
Till I can get the info up, one question for you guys having the same issue. Do you have multiple routers in your network and/or custom firmware on your router?

Wifi signal. Stock vs AOSP

No matter what I try on aosp roms my Wifi range isn't as far and even when I'm right next to my router my Wifi signal randomly dies and restarts. This happens every minute too 5 minutes.
Anyone know of a fix?

I've been having the same issue (running Rootbox), though I've only noticed it recently.
Signal strength stays consistent, but disconnects every few minutes unless I'm right next to the router. Half the time I have to turn wifi off & back on to get it to reconnect. I'm a room away from the router, so I know it's not due to a weak signal, and it drops while sitting next to another phone & a laptop (all on the same network) that work flawlessly.

I've had "avoid bad connections" off well, forever, and my router broadcasts on both frequencies, so I have that set to "auto". I've also tried every conceivable combination of wifi options and still have the issue with it dropping constantly.

LG g3 WiFi issues

Is anyone else having this problem? My phone keeps dropping the WiFi signal even if I'm next to the WiFi router. The WiFi indicater shows good signal with all bars lit at all times and I don't get any notifications of signal being low but it still doesn't load/connect to anything. It's very sporadic, but regular.. once singal is lost it won't load anything for a minute or 2 even if the WiFi on the phone is turned off and on. I've tried resetting the router but the problem still persists. All other devices connected to the same WiFi don't have any problems. I'm using the virgin super hub by netgear.

Same over here. I have 3 other devices on the same router and none have a problem. Restarting the router does not solve the problem.

I have a similar issue at my partner's house. When I first got the phone I had no issues connecting to the 5 Ghz wi-fi connection, but lately I have issues with the 5Ghz, but connecting to his 2.4 Ghz connection works well. His device and other household devices work well on the 5 Ghz connection. It is annoying, but since the 2.4 Ghz seems quick, I am not going to worry too much about it right now. Hope there is a solution though.
I remember my z1 having similar problems...it was fixed by changing the security mode I think...wep..wpk...or something...just fool around with it...no harm in trying
I have a NetGear accesspoint that the G3 refuses to connect to regardless of the G or A bands. So frustrating.
Stard having this issue this weekend, thought it was the router location and I repositioned and still no help.
Hoping and update fixes it
I too have experienced issues with WiFi during my last 4 days of ownership. Perfect WiFi signal (I was sitting within feet of the router) yet no Internet connection. Cycling WiFi off and on fixed the issue. This occurred on two different networks using different hardware. Both were using WPA2-PSK authentication. No other devices on the network experienced any issues.

That option was already enabled on my device. I never enabled it, so it must have been on by default.
Also, when this happened, my G3 still had a valid IP address
Have same problem since day 1. Cycling between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz and vice versa seems to fix for the short term.
But seems to happen on a daily basis.....!

wifi sigal drops all the time i did factory seetings and did not help
plzzzz help as am start to hate my device

I added static ip address and it was able to connect to the wifi but it will
be the same problem when you connect to another wifi at a different location.
Do not change network prefix length/DNS1/DNS2. Keep these the same.
You could use this as temporary fix at home atleast and connect to wifi.

Still have same problem
It worked on mine. Much more stable.
I am also experiencing this and it is really annoying. Toggling WiFi off and back on always fixes it, but that is not an actual solution because the problem happens so frequently.
I have tried:
Disabling Sprint connection optimizer
'Keep WiFi on when screen is off' is enabled
'Allow WiFi scanning' is disabled
'WiFi signal weak' is disabled (set so that it does not disconnect from WiFi when signal is weak)
'Battery saving for WiFi' is disabled
Using a static IP address
Factory Reset
Forget network
I still have had no luck. Does anybody else have any suggestions? I have about a dozen devices on my network and they play nicely; this is the only device giving me trouble. I am starting to wonder if it is time to RMA?
EDIT: It doesn't seem to happen when I connect to the WiFi at my work. Hopefully flashing a newer build of DD-WRT will remedy this. I love this phone except for that one issue; unfortunately though, this issue would be pretty hard to live with....
Same thing here. Before G3 I had G2 and Flex, both had the same wifi problem. Funny thing is that some $150 Chinese almost noname generic phones never have this problem on my home wifi. It's exclusive to LG.
Same Problem here. I am having a Nexus 5 sitting next to it. No problem with the N5 but constantly interruptions with the G3. This phone is starting to annoy the hell out of me.
I have the VZW G3 rooted, have no issues with WiFi on either antenna using an Asus dual band router.
I did have issues with a dlink, but it had issues with all phones not just the g3 so I replaced it.
