I can't figure out group texting.

So... before I got my Nexus, I could send and receive group messages almost like an MMS to a group of friends and have a chat.
Now if I send a group text it sends it individually and if someone starts a chat I receive it like I'm the only one.
I tried Go SMS with the same results. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Cant be done mate, so annoying!
Can be done with Go Sms though buddy so I dont know what your doing wrong there..
Yeah. Group SMS sends the message as individual messages to each person. Same with GO SMS and Handcent

Umm. My Galaxy Nexus, (CDMA) does group texting. I actually don't like group texting that much.

[Q] Group texts in CM10's Stock SMS app

Apparently you can't send texts to groups in the messaging app of CM10? If it's there I can't find it. I mean I can find groups in the contacts app, but can't send any of them texts.
Edit...this started as a question but after no answers, I'm left to assume group texting is not possible with the stock CM10 SMS app. Anyone recommend Handcent or Go SMS on CM10?

Update...a great workaround from Elixis...a free app ChompSms. It's icon even looks almost like the stock. Love it so far. Be sure to also get the free emoji add on for Chomp. It has over 400 symbols.

[Fixed] Can't get MMS to work with aftermarket apps?

I am having problems with go SMS and hand cent and crunch SMS getting able to send Mms. The stock app works fine but all the aftermarket ones can't send messages. I am on nexus4 on att. Any suggestions?

Its an Android 4.2 issue, couldn't get Handcent or Chomp to work on my GNex either. Interesting thing I found is if I use Handcent to start a text to a group I have set up then delete Handcent and finish the MMS with the stock app I get an error like "You are not authorized for this service" this is on Straight Talk At&t. If I add each person individually with the stock app the MMS goes through.

Does the same for me on everything but the stock app.

Hey I got this to work today. Turns out you have to type your MMS APN settings manually into the SMS app, as I guess they no longer can access the settings themselves.

Not sure exactly what youa re referring to in the app? Can you post a screenshot? Are you creating a seperate APN for SMS/MMS?
Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you just want text messages and no pictures, but you can give google voice a try. You will have to give your client a new phone #, but at least all of your messages will be free.
I'm not 100% sure that texting an international # is free, so you may want to double check that.
This Old client will not go for that Thanks tho
Skype message. Free easy with notifications

Ummmmm...this should be an obvious answer, but here it goes anyways.
Google doesn't support or offer iMessage. So either your client downloads an app or adds a service which will work with your Android phone, or you go back to the iPhone. Easy as that.

Whatsapp.

Google Talk also has a chat function that does not requiere a new phone number. I should know, I use it every day.

I'm shocked nobody has said Google+ messenger. The Google+ application is available on iPhone and the messenger app that comes with it is very much like iMessage. You can even do hangouts which are the Google Equivalent of Facetime. This is absolutely your best option as far as I'm concerned.
I totally missed the part in the OP that specified that he wouldn't install an app.. Disregard this.
If the client is unwilling to add an app to speak to you then his business must not be worth the trouble. Either that or you can pony up for international messaging charges and write Em off come tax time.

I got texting to work on a WiFi nexus 7.

But I was wondering if anyone with more experience in android could help.
I installed an xposed module that unlocks the "default SMS" options in settings and in other texting apps like hangouts. Now I used the cyanogenmod voice+ app and linked my google voice, then I went to hangouts and got it to import my existing texts and that worked.
Now this is where it gets weird and I need some help lol its pretty glitchy. I actually receive texts fine, but I was able to send one text perfectly and now I can't send anymore.
If anyone wants to work on this please go ahead
