I stumbled upon a feature in the Chrome browser that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. I noticed that if there are multiple small links in a small area, if your finger may be hitting more than one link at the same time, it will give you a zoom bubble that will let you select the link easier. I have attached picture of it so you can see what I mean.
Also here's my mini review of the Chrome browser.
http://thesmartphonechamp.com/hands-on-demo-and-mini-review-of-new-chrome-browser-for-android-video/
From what I picked up on the forum Opera seems to have this as well.
But yeah I haven't seen this mentioned on many blogs/news sites.
I saw that when I was browsing this forum yesterday when I was selecting a page number. Pretty cool

Yeah that's how I came across it, through forum browsing. I like that feature a lot as it means now I don't have to zoom in to hit small links that are in between other links. Great move on the part of Google.
Google have actually documented that on their release post:
http://chrome.blogspot.com/2012/02/introducing-chrome-for-android.html
One of the biggest pains of mobile browsing is selecting the correct link out of several on a small-screen device. Link Preview does away with hunting and pecking for links on a web page by automatically zooming in on links to make selecting the precise one easier.

Opera would automatically zoom in when you hit an area with > 1 small links. It was quite convenient. But of course I've not found any browser other than stock suitable enough until now, convenient or not. It may be some form of unconscious Google bias but I'm with that.

I'm in a similar boat as you. Most of the time I've actually liked using Dolphin, yet for some reason every time I always wound up going back to the stock browser. It didn't matter what device I was using, I always wound up going back to the stock browser for whatever reason.

I'm finding it rather frustrating to use the Opera browser. It seems to be impossible to click links when zoomed out and looking at most or all of the page.
To click links I first have to zoom right in by double tapping, then I am able to tap links OK.
Any way to change this? It's highly annoying because there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to follow links when zoomed out. And it's not a size issue, because large buttons don't work either.
It's doubly stupid because I can in fact click them. tapping them sometimes changes their colour as if they have been followed, and if I tap-hold them then I get the menu on which I can open them in new tab. So there's no issue acgually selecting links, it just wont't follow them except on full zoom.
There's another thread for this with a solution as to how to make them clickable...
don't have the link at hand sorry, but a bit of searching should turn it up
hi ,
check this thread

I tried to surf this website on my browser on the mytouch 3g and realized that it is a pain the the @$$ to surf. I was wondering if there can be a mobile site.
- You can easily log into your account to access User CP and check your messages.
-Search for Threads and/or Add New Threads feature
-You can pick between Mobile or Desktop View
Also there are some other things that I feel could be better.
-When someone quotes you, you can get an email notification telling you. This way people don't have to subscribe to every thread they put a post to see if people respond to your post.
-A Google Chrome Plug-In like you can see your Account Status easier or search for forums from the URL Bar.
If anyone else has any issues that they want to be fixed please post them I'm pretty sure a Mod or Admin is going to see this thread.
I'm not sure if this has been proposed before but if it has please direct me to the thread and/or lock this thread. I really don't want to be banned or suspended. I searched but could find anything.
This probably would have been best to post in the sticky called (requests) From the Users to the Mods & Admins. However, I at least have an answer one of your questions, the mobile site one. Somebody on the boards (ktemkin) made a mobile site for XDA-Developers, which is can be accessed by going to http://xda-developers.mobi. It's not the prettiest site and it doesn't have full functionality, but it gets the job done better than any other solution out there at the moment. Hope that helps
Did not know about this. Like u said it's not pretty, but it's the best we have right now.
But vBulletin comes with built-in pda display -- no one ever sees this because it's obscure in the top-left menu on the homepage:

meh, that's just the standard Vbulletin Archive View, branded as a PDA layout. It's better than the standard view when on a mobile browser, but xda-developers.mobi renders things much better IMO. View the forum with your Hero's browser using each one, and I'm pretty sure you'll prefer xda-developers.mobi over the archive view. As I said, neither are perfect solutions, and a dedicated client (like the now halted XDApp) would be best, but both can get the job done to a degree.

I have written this on the main interface page and received no answers.
On some pages I get to a point where no matter how many times I click on the back button, the page goes nowhere. When I long click on the back button it shows a list and there are pages of the same link that has the word ads in it. If I click on the bottom item in the list and long click on the back button again, the same list comes up. If I do this several times, I finally get to where I was to navigate to the page.
While I haven't actually taken the time to count, I am sure that there are over 40-50 page listings that come up from one page with only a few messages.
I am using IE9 and I want to know what I can do to stop this overtly evil behavior. I fully understand the need for ads but I don't see any good reasoning to hijack my page. If I click on a link in the page, I can then go back to normal. It doesn't happen on every page, just sometimes.
Since my bookmark to this site is on IE9 and not Chrome or Firefox and since I navigate to this site only on my desktop, I don't get the problem elsewhere. This behavior is only on this site. Some sites open pop under windows (also evil) and pop up windows (annoying) but this one really gets me angry.
Again, how does one get this bad beharior to stop???!!!
Please help:crying:
I just went back to the offending page and several times it only had two instances of the ads link. I then went to Chrome and it didn't happen at all. I know there is evil here because it is related to advertising. Is someone posting hiding something here? Is the site doing this to me? Is it an attack on IE because of the anti microsoft sentiment?
Why Why Why???
I'm done. I'm hoping for some answers now.
Sorry about the rant. I have to use IE because it is what my non technical wife is used to and the always there bookmarks on the left are important. We also have land line becasue she won't give it up.
Ummm. Don't think your in the right place dude. You'd be better off searchin ms support or at least using a windows forum. This is Android!
But to try to help, sounds like a browser hijacker, or malware. You need to run scans with malwarebytes, spybot, hijack this, anti-virus....you get the idea.
Sorry I can't help you more than that. Good luck

I know that it is off topic, but since it only happens here I thought I would try here next. I also have a request in the Chrome forum as to how to get the left side bar bookmarks there.
Thanks, I hope it doesn't get deleted until I at least get some answer. I won't post here on this subject until someone asks me to qualify my question.
If you haven't already, download and run malwarebytes. Its one of the best and can find tons of stuff that regular AV can't.
As for bookmarks, if it comes to it there are utilities you can use to back them up. Then uninstall/reinstall IE.
You can also import bookmarks from/to chrome.

Dude, this is an Android forum not a PC forum, what's wrong with you?
You have a virus or some serious malware.
Do a fresh install of windows, problem solved, stop being such cry baby.
Yikes this is a forum for mobile android phones not windows.
Like everyone has suggested use malwarebytes, it is free!
Antivirus software rarely pick up malware.
Use spybot search and destroy
Install spyware blaster to avoid future such problems

While looking for another solution (to another problem) I found your post. The same thing happened to me today on this site.
The problem is not your PC, nor your browser and is not a malware issue either. In fact, it's from a script that is specifically designed to disable the browsers' back button. You see, the back button does not generate any revenue towards pay-per-click and/or similar schemes. Click-throughs, however, will...
Chances are that one of the page ads loaded the script (usually java) and set a cookie as well (to prevent one from replicating the problem).
Closing the browser window is about the only way to get around it. Holding the pull-down for the back-button only shows numerous versions of the same page.
Other browsers have plugins that can prevent the script from running in the first place and/or block the ads entirely.
If it keeps happening then you should contact one of the Forum Mods.
Hope this helps.

Can't delete or move unless we happen upon it (like I just did) or you report it. Not like we have filters that send us PMs whenever someone types Delete or Move. Doesn't work that way, fellas. Sorry

At OP, if you are still having problems with the site, got to the main XDA page and flag an admin to check out your issues. Plus you could search there and if no results pop up or no one else is having the issue, there error could be between the chair and keyboard. If you want this to remain open, it is your choice but you will have better luck in the main XDA section, rather than the SGS3 section.
Shoot me a PM if you want it closed. If no PM by morning my time, then it is gone.
So this is a pretty weird problem here.... I've noticed that whenever I'm browsing these forums on my Note 3 (it also seemed to happen sometimes on the sgs3 as well) I will run into this problem. What happens is when I go to a page that lists threads or forums, so a device's main page, the main forum page, or a forum itself, the page loads fine but when I actually try to interact, be it zoom in so that I can see things easier, or scroll down, or even click a search box, the whole page will begin to reload. Then once reloaded, half the time I can use the page without it happening again (all though hardly ever on the sgs3) and the other half of the time it would just happen again. The only way to keep it from happening that I found is to simply load the page, then when I go to interact with it I just do so near the top of the page so that if the thing starts to reload then I can quickly tap on the x button to stop it. If I do this then it won't bother me again like that on that page. I can scroll or type or whatever. But as soon as I go to another forum, device page, or even the next page of the same forum, the same thing , will happen.
Does anyone know why this is happening and any way to correct it? Is it an issue with chrome itself, as this only seems to happen on chrome, but my issue there is that I like chrome abd o especially like the way my bookmarks settings and passwords are shares across my own personal devices. So any ideas to fix this? It's driving me nuts! Oh and yes I know I could use the app but I'm just not that fond of it. I've even bought the premium one to support the forum a little but I'd just rather use the browser. Thanks for any help....I'm sure some others are experiencing this issue.

Anyone know how come the N3 stock browser acts like Chrome when you zoom? I cant figure out how to have the text format to the page either.

Yea every other browser works fine except chrome it Is stupid as all get out.... what can be done to fix it I don't want to stop using Chrome because I use the bookmarks all the time etc.... it's just much easier for me to use Chrome for like 99 percent of the stuff that I do.... so any ideas? What is this auto reload feature that one guy was talking about? I've never heard of or seen it anywhere in chrome...has anyone else?

Thanks for the workaround. I also bought the premium app and i feel ripped off because it is really, really bad.
They should not activate a default setting that is bugged on a browser most users browse these forums with!
Recently in one of my computers, when I browse XDA forum, Chrome does not allow me to go to pages beyond the first page. If you look at the attached snapshot, it shows the tree of conversation, but won't let go to any other pages. I don't know how to close this setting so I can go back to my normal use.
Thanks in advance!
That formatting looks a little weird. Is it still like that for you now?
Does it happen on all browsers? Can you post the link for the page it's happening on.
