You really can't go wrong with any of the recently updated roms. they're all very good. They're all daily driver worthy. And why do you need to go back to stock? don't you want to flash another rom?
I don't think it will lock again, but just in case, don't you have the unlock code?

No I Don't Have The Code Cuz When I Buy It Was Already Unlocked
I just wanet a Stable Rom And Need It To Be Support Arabic Lang (RTL Fix)

Well, I tried several roms and by my experience Juggernaut turned out to work best for me. Yet roms updates on daily basis, so I suggest to check the forum once in a while, and to avoid beta releases if you're new to these things.
Also, I noticed that many roms has no proper RTL (Right to Left) support. For me it was quite a problem since it used to invert the phone numbers when the contact name was written in Hebrew. It also used to mess up lines which contains both Hebrew and English. I assume it would do the same for you with Arabic, so keep that in mind when choosing your rom.
The stock roms originally comes with no root (i.e "rooted device") access. That means that you (and the apps you may install) don't have permission to change certain parts of the phone operating system. You may still use any gsm carrier you like. There are relatively simple ways to gain root access. Switching to a different rom will gain you root access as well depending on which rom you flash.
If you're able to use your phone now with Syrian carrier it means it is not sim-locked and it is going to stay that way, so don't worry about that.
Just read all of the warnings before following any tutorials, and DON'T try to flash I9100 roms to your device. They both has the same name, yet a totally different hardware.
Good luck.

thanks I hope that I can benefit from your experience in (RTL Fix) if you know any thing about it
and yes it's work with Syrian carrier not the phone is (T-Mobile) cuz the one who
I bought from him he unlock device in Jordan

Well, As I said Juggernaut worked best for me. It might not be the best rom, but it has no RTL bugs. It worked fine with Hebrew, yet in Arabic I know is a bit more complicated for Android to work with.
I thought Syria has no GSM carrier. I've spent lots of time in the Golan, just across the border, and my phone didn't pick up any signal from Syrian carriers, Only from Jordanian ones.

hmmm maybe you should check out eugene's rom then, it is based off jugg.
that sucks that you don't have the unlock code, but why would you need to flash it back to stock with odin? just flash another rom without going back to stock.

[Q]Do these custom ROMs affect the global capabilities of the phone?

I'm traveling to Italy tomorrow and just want to make sure that by having rooted and flashed an ASOP ROM on it has not affected its ability to connect to the cell network out there. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
It will depending on the rom you use. I have been using Newt's rom's primarily and i know he has gotten both GSM and CDMA to work on some of his newer versions, you will have to check the changelog to see which ones work though,
Newts newest 3D 2.03 has the world phone capibilities..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231283
But i cant speak for ASOP, you might want to check the log to see if it is listed as working or not.
I haven't tested Global Mode myself but people are reporting SkyRaider Zeus supports it.
I can give a big thumbs-up to the ROM as a whole. I have been running it for a few weeks and haven't hit a snag yet.

Oh Oh, I appreciate the feedback but is not at all what I was hoping for lol...I just posted this question on the ROMs thread but its too late to do anything about it if it does not have it enabled, $#|T!!!! For argument sake I posted it was I traveling but when in reality its a co-worker(a manager) who is traveling to Europe and is he's gonna be pissed if he steps off that plane and has no service...I'll just try and blame it on the network out there i guess if worse comes to worse lol...thanks again!
Best to go with SkyRaider Zeus. Based off the stock shipped ROM, not a port.
Which Aosp rom do you have on your friends phone?
I've read in various places that CM 7 will work globally. Not sure about any of the others though.

i live abroad and the stock firmware works fine with local GSM carriers
you can just flash rmk Rooted rom which is the original firmware after removing bloatware, works exactly like stock ( no bugs at all )
and if needed he added a flashable zip including all removed app.
if you like sense 3 , in the Forum there a sense 3 Patch . i tested that rom myself with the Patch and its fine
there is many sense 3 Roms that Support Global Mode also. but in my opinion that rmk Rom is the safest ( no bugs at all )
## phone codes
+1 for rmk's stock ROM.
Make sure that the ROM you use will allow access to the ## phone codes.
Or at least put a stock based cleaned ROM on the phone and set it up and do a nandroid of it so if he needs to access those codes, he will have a workaround.
I found that the AOSP ROMs don't allow access to those codes.
So if you need to manually change any data settings you have to use a sense based ROM to make those changes, then flash back to the ROM you want.
The data settings should stay between flashes but I found that even with full wipe and flashing the ROM, then the nandroid, I still got a boatload of FCs.
Good luck ....
Yep, just depends on which ROM you download. Some do, some don't.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Hello,
Ok, I can't flash a i9100 ROM in T989, but I question:
Can I extract the language (PT-BR, for example) from i9100 ROM and then "insert" it in the T989 (orT989D) ROM?
I question because I bought a "Galaxy SII X" by Tellus (T989D) in the USA, but it doesn't have my language (Portuguese) and the app "Morelocale2" doesn't work cool.
I would appreciate a solution or sugestion to have my IBS Galaxy X in Portuguese.
Thks.
P.S.: I'm sorry for my English.

Your english is fine a lot better than the people that live in the u.s and its their native language. You will need to root your phone using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194 and flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642
After you load that rom go to settings/ Language and keyboard/ Select languge/ The select portuguese.
That is the only rom that supports your language I know.

Just some little questions:
installing this rom I still be able in the future upgrade to the original ICS ROM? Because I know that it will have all languages... By the way, is it true?
This rom is stable? Does it have some serious bug?
Will I lose some functionality?
If I don't like it, can I go back to the original? How to do? How to backup my Original ROM?
Sorry for a lot of questions by a noob!

This is a custom rom based off the stock rom you already have with added functionality. No bugs are known if you follow directions as stated by the developer. You will get an ota but it wont flash you will have to update it when the developer gets his hands on ice cream sandwich rom for our variant of the galaxy s2.

[Q] Best rom and best kernel for T999V

Hi all! I want to know what is the best Rom and the best kernel for the SGH-T999V. My carrier is Videotron.
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
Define best. Are you looking for best performance, longest battery time, coolest custom features, etc?
Battery life and coolest feature
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
^ I have same question. Whats kenrel comparati with T999?
AOKP tends to have the most custom features out there and is pretty stable from what I've read. CM10 has the biggest community and the most support so it'll be the first to get a fully stable release.
And for battery life, I'd suggest Lean Kernel and don't overclock anything.
How can I install Leankernel without bricking my phone?
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
Put the .zip file on your SD card then use ROM Manager to boot into CWMR. Wipe cache and then wipe Dalvik cache. Flash from there. I would assume since Videotron is combined with the T-Mobile forum all the ROMs and kernels for T-Mobile would also work for your phone. The only difference that I can tell from T-999 and T-999V is the 999V is Canadian. Other than that just don't flash any T-Mobile specific modems or radios and you should be good.
Ok so the kernel and the radio are not tbe same things. Im sorry I am totally noob in this.
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
Don't sweat it. We've all been there before. There should be a sticky in one of these sub-forums with a TON of information about what everything is.
And yes, the kernel and radio are not the same. Think of the kernel as the engine powering everything and the radio as what interprets the signal you get from your provider. It's a bit simplified, but it's an accurate description. As long as you avoid flashing T-Mobile modems and radios you should be in the clear. To be honest, I've messed with radios before and it's really not worth the hassle 9 times out of 10 so you're really not missing out being with Videotron.
I have no doubt that stock kernel is and always will be the best kernel possible for this phone. Sammy has done a great job! Kernel devs will do their job(fix and break what they fixed before then break it again so you become a flash addict) but stock kernel will remain the best choice at the end.
Sent from my SGH-T999
SmartassV2/SIO. Not to mention overclocking and other optimizations.
Your argument is invalid.
And flash some roms and kernel just to try can break the phone? Will the performance will stay the samdme?
And thank you for all your answer.

Sorry if it's it's off topic . I want to flash my kernel with Trinity
I'm wondering which is compatible, due to many many files for different roms and etc, for my phone which is Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999, rooted and stock everything. I'm also a noob , too. Brick my phone once and i don't want it to get replaced . LOL .
And I also want to install the AwsomeBeats v3 mod . Is this mod compatible for all Android phone ?

It's possible, but not likely. If it was that easy to break the phone there wouldn't be such things as nightlies (ROMs that are updated pretty much every week night). I've had a few instances where I flashed the proper kernel, but it wasn't compatible with my phone. It's a simple enough fix, but nothing close to soft or hard bricking my phone just by flashing. Just make sure you don't do anything stupid like removing the battery mid flash, run out of battery mid flash, flash a ROM for a different carrier, flash a kernel for the wrong carrier (although kernels aren't TOO picky).

To be honest I was interested in trying Trinity myself, but gave up on that. I couldn't figure out what the hell was what and which was the most recent due to the naming of the different versions. Unless there's something you REALLY want that only Trinity offers my only recommendation is to move on. Or find someone here who has a signature saying they use Trinity and ask them which version you want.

I have no doubt that stock kernel is and always will be the best kernel possible for this phone. Sammy has done a great job! Kernel devs will do their job(fix and break what they fixed before then break it again so you become a flash addict) but stock kernel will remain the best choice at the end.

I'm glad you are happy with the stock kernel. However, not every kernel works the same for everyone. Therefore, stock is not the right choice for everyone.

couple questions regarding custom roms

I had a couple question and hopefully you guys can help me out.
I have a gs3 and was looking to install a rom, now do these roms just add features or do they completely replace the default rom? Im I going to be able to do everything I was able to do before the custom rom? Also what does "cm10" or "cm5" mean? Also my phones 4g isnt working, it stays at edge, no mateer if I have full bars. Would a custom rom maybe solve the problem? If I add a custom rom can I revert to stock without side effects?
Thnks
Read and read and Google and Google, or vice versa! And have you rooted and flashed already? If so check your imei and see if it has numbers or just 0 (settings, about phone, status, imei) oh and read some more like the resource guide I created, and Google other things.

Buddy my advice to you is read more! And that's being serious because flashing things is no small matter but to answer you're questions.
Flashing a rom will replace the default.
It will change kernel, build, etc. The only thing that wont change is you're modem.
If you did install a touchwiz rom. You're most likely going to do everything you do plus more but make sure its based of T-Mobile... they tell you on the first post of roms.
Cm10 is cyanogen mod and they make asop roms. They best way to describe the rom is watch a video of the nexus stock rom.. u will get the jist of it.
For you're data make sure you're on a 4g area my friend. If u are then personally check you're data and make sure 4g is enabled. Still wont woek then maybe flashing the newest modem might work but be very very careful! !!!!
If u install cm10, akop stuff like that people recommend to odin back to your stock. Look up odin if you do not know what that means.
Ok I answered all you're questions
But truly watch out. From reading you're questions it sounds like you are new and want to learn which is good but keep reading and reading before you flash anything dude. Treat this like programming class and you're fighting for that A
Hit thanks if I helped

You are the man.
What is the full model number of your GS3?
Dude you really look like you won't take advantage of all the rooting capabilities maybe it's best if you don't. Have you ever had 4G? It might be your area, tmobile doesn't cover everything. So custom roms most likely won't improve that, so before you do anything call tmobile and see what's up with that because most likely your paying for a service your not getting. If not then a warranty is in place if they cover it in your area, also let us know if you have mess with some settings in network.

Since we are asking questions about custom roms... Let's say I install a custom kernel but I flash different rom after that. Would the custom kernel go untouched or would it change to whatever rom is present on the custom rom?

It changes with whatever rom you flash to my understand, roms comes with their equipped kernels. You should wipe before you move on to next rom

Yes all ROMs come with a kernel otherwise they wouldn't boot.
Ahh, that's right. Thanks for clearing that up guys
