I am using CM7. Downloaded twitter app from market. The Sync contacts show an error every time i try to sync with Twitter.
The error says - "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
The problem is going on for the past 1 month.
I'm having the same problem on CM7 latest nightly (November when they shutdown the auto build server) on a Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile. So, it's not a phone specific issue. Haven't been able to sync since 1/19. PM me if you find an answer, and I'll do the same.
This appears to be a problem with Twitter itself. I am running version 3.0.1 and I get the same error.
As I recall, they "blocked" it on CM7. They weren't aloud to use it.

I also tried Tweetdeck and its working fine. Any help is appreciated.

Which Facebook app are you using? The HTC facebook app that links to your contacts or the Facebook app that you download from the Market? I asked because I was having a problem with the HTC one and I had to remove the account from the settings and resync the HTC app via the contact list.
It's Facebook for Android from the market. I talked to a friend of a friend who has an EVO and he was having the same issue. The widget seems to be updating though.

I'm having the same issue, too. It seems that a number of people are encountering this issue and it only affects the news feed. If you look at your own profile or view your list of friends, Facebook for Android populates as you'd expect.
I've tried clearing cache (the button is always disabled), clearing data, forcing the app to stop, and even uninstalling and then re-installing. Nothing has worked.
I'm inclined to think that this is an issue with FB.
Same issue here. Started happening about 3 days ago. I've uninstalled/reinstalled 2 times with no luck. Happened after i updated ROM to Myn release 4. Coincidence?
I'm still having problems, as are a number of others. I might be mistaken but I don't think it has anything to do with Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS4, to which I upgraded over the weekend. It seems that a number of others, including users of AT&T, Sprint, and VZW, are all having the problem on their "Facebook for Android" apps.
When I have time in a bit, I'll restore an older nandroid of my EVO -- one that is running Warm TwoPointTwo RLS3 -- and see whether my Facebook app is still functioning normal. That would be one way to better determine whether a custom ROM is interfering with the app.
So, I restored my nandroid with Warm TwoPointTwo RLS3, which has always worked flawlessly for me and never interfered with any of my apps. Upon trying to start my "Facebook for Android" app, I was informed that my session had expired and that I needed to log in again. I logged in successfully but was greeted by the familiar message that we've all been seeing: "An error had occurred while fetching data; 500/Internal Server Error."
This leads me to believe that either the app is crap or Facebook is crap. It could be both are crap. In either case, Myn's ROM is not responsible for the problem.
In general, 500 errors are server up by a Web server any time it cannot (or fails to) fulfill a request. It is not a problem with our Android phones.
My "Facebook for Android" app is working tonight: the news feed starting working at some point during the day and I can now read all of my FB friends' statuses. Not sure what changed; FB probably got its act together; the app hasn't updated too recently as my version is still 1.4.1, which was released at the beginning of November.

I am not able to sign in to Facebook for HTC Sense over WiFi. The only way to add an account is to switch off the WiFi and let it sign in using my data plan (EDGE). The error message I get is:
"The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?"
I also get this same message if I try to login from the Friend Stream widget.
If I sign in over my data plan it works and it starts syncing the contacts. However if I switch WiFi back on, it would sync the live feed but not the contacts; I get this error:
"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"
I've been looking for a solution for 3 days without any luck.
I live in Lebanon, we always have issues with the internet connection. Does syncing Facebook for HTC Sense require any specific ports or proxies to be configured? If so, is there any workaround?
Update 1: Today I was trying to refresh my Yahoo Stocks app but it wouldn't refresh over WiFi (only when I'm on my Data Connection it syncs)
Update 2: I finally decided to switch roms. I flashed LeeDrOiD HD 2.3.4 - GingerBread (Beta-4-R2) and guess what? It worked; everything was syncing over WiFi. So I guess this could be a ROM issue.. so I'll repost it to the ROM's Thread appropriate category.
well, you beat me to it, would have suggested you download the rom again and see if the issue still persist after installation...
Hi,
Earlier I was running a Defy+ GB based ROM running on my Defy and then it used to sync all my call logs with the google calendar.
now that i am using the latest MIUI it is not doing so.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be missing??
Thanks Everyone.
As far as I know there's an app that syncs that data. I've read about something like that some time ago, but I was never that interested.
Are you sure you didn't forget to install that app?
check this out
Hi,
I have a Koodo Galaxy S2X and for the last week I've been trying the great JB roms presented here. I really like JB and would want to use one of the rom as my DD, but I've been having the same problem with all the JB roms I've tried (4.1.x and 4.2.x).
I use Touchdown to read my Hotmail account and it is configured to use push. The problem is that when on 3G, I can see in Touchdown logs that the push thread times out every 30 sec (server failed to respond) and TD is constantly connecting back. It uses a lot of battery, maybe 10% per 1-2 hours. This problem does not occur when using WIFI. I don't have the problem either with ICS roms, TD barely uses any battery power and I can see in the logs that nothing times out.
Another thing I see with JB roms is that if I don't use the phone for a couple of minutes and then open the Google Play store, it will show me "No Connection" with a "retry" button. I press the button a couple times and it finally loads the store.
What I've tried so far:
- First, I use TWRP V2.4.0.0
- I tested different roms, including SlimStar V2.2, AOKP 4.2 build 3, All Star slimbean and SUPERLITE CM10.
- I played around with the Sync button, tried on and off but changes nothing
- I installed the stock Koodo radio over slimstarV2.2 but it didn't changed anything
- Tried Touchdown for smartphone, Touchdown HD and a beta version but they all have the same behavior in JB.
- Each time I flash a rom, I wipe everything (cache, davlik, Factory reset and System)
I'm kind of desperate, I've searched the forums for nearly a week now in order to solve this problem but I don't find anything. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem??
If anyone has a clue please tell me! Thank you very much!

Have you tried setting up your hotmail acct as an exchange acct and using the stock email app?

Yes but the main reason I use a third party email app is because I use folders in Hotmail and I want to see unread mails from all folders in a unified list. I searched this option in the stock email app but I can't find that feature. I have to manually select each folder to see the content.
I just tried Enhanced Email and it has the same problem as Touchdown. I see exceptions in the logs saying "Server failed to respond". So I think it's definitely a rom issue since it works flawlessly with ICS (Koodo V4.04 stock and Koodo 4.04 V5 optimized rom from ptmr3) with the same radio. But I would like to know if someone else has the problem to rule out the possibility of a problem with my phone.
Thanks
Edit: Looked again in the logs and I can see that the "Target server failed to respond" exception is happening when the app sends a ping to the activesync server. The other connections seem to be working well though.
More info from the Enhanced Email log file:
In wifi mode:
- The app sends a ping to the activesync server with a timeout value of 470sec
- 470sec later, I see "Ping response: 200" and a ping status of 2
Then the operation continues connectly
In 3G mode:
- The app sends the ping with a timeout value of 470sec
- 30 sec later, I get an IOException: Target server failed to respond
So I don't know why, but it looks like there is a timeout check only 30 sec after the ping is sent in 3G mode. I don't think it's a script or a mod that causes this as I have the problem with the AOKP and CM nightlies builds.
Anyone has a clue?
Thanks
Hi,
Just to say that I tried the latest AOKP 4.2.2 build (jb-mr1 Build 5) tonight and the problem is now fixed!! I don't see any "No Connection" message in Google Play and the push timeouts are gone!
Now hopefully the fix will be integrated to the CM roms too.
Hello, not sure if this is a known issue, but i am noticing an issue when i look at my google accounts in settings. I have a galaxy s3 running cm10.1 and for the last few months it has said there has been a sync error in settings when i look at my google account. At the bottom of the page, it also says "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". Does anyone know what may be causing this, or how to fix it?
Thanks and have a good one.

As it been doing this on every update?
Or better question, when is the last time you updated? And when is the last time you've done a clean flash?
