[Q] Mirror to PC - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if there is a way to mirror my EVOs screen on my PC (I use Windows and Mac)? Here's my dilemma:
I want to be able to continue playing games while at home on a bigger screen. The HDMI mirroring works great! However, I don't always have access to a tv, but, I do always have my computer. I appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks in advance!

There's pretty much no way

[Request] Screen to TV via DLNA. possible???

Ok so since our TV out doesn't work, is it possible to create an app that uses DLNA to put the Epic screen onto the TV or Computer?
I don't know much at all about formats and conversions, and am generally confused about the complexity in that area, but this doesn't seem too hard an idea to create.
Can it even be done for my computer? use the DLNA/wireless to put my laptop screen on my tv?
Don't think so.
DLNA servers usually just serve up files to a DLNA client. It doesn't change the file in anyway. To sum it up in short - it streams the actual file as if you were reading it locally, but only the file itself - not the output of the file.
Example, if I have an MKV video file hosted on my DLNA server (my PC), my DLNA client on my PlayStation 3 can't play it since it doesn't support MKV even though my PC does.
Think of DLNA as a way to file share content from your phone to your DLNA capable TV. What it does not do is export your mobile screen to your TV.
DLNA stream
I have been doing some testing on my DHD and it seems that its the phone that streams the content through DLNA to the TV. If there was a way to convert the mobile screen output to video stream there might yet be hope.
... Allshare? Anyone? No? Ooookay.

Allshare thats native is a tad "picky"
Twonky Server mobile(the free one not the pay) in the market however shares files beautifully to DLNA enabled devices.
But as states it's ONLY for sharing files, even with hdmi out you're only gonna get what it wnats, unlike a dsektop where it displays the desktop.
if you wanted to do it find a remote client that lets you "RDP" to the phone and have a computer hooked to the big screen.
theres really no advantage to displaying the desktop of the phone in this way. Can't see why it would even be an option.(or why anyone would want it)
Yes

In linux(X11) i think it could be pretty straight forward, since you should be able to point the dlna TV to a file created by x11 with the output of the screen.. I dont know how the screen capture process is in android, and not at all in windows, but it is possible, though performance may suffer.. Im want to write an app for android with this, but i wont right it atm.

Using sgs2 as wireless (multi) touchpad

A friend has apples multi touch pad for his macbook and it works really for general browsing/videos etc (that with a kb). I have been trying a few, none really allowed pinch to zoom. Does anybody know if its possible?
While searching, I found one called idisplay,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09RTD_2bRaA
it extends your win7 desktop to your phone, then you can use the phoens touch screen to move around!
why use your phone as a mouse pad when you have a keyboard and mouse dedicated for your pc ?

Because sometimes its nice to be able to shut the pc down from bed
and yes im that lazy. I have my tv hooked up to my pc and i use remote
droid to control what im playing on the tv or even vlc remote.
Remote droid has the touchpad but i dont know if its multitouch.
at home my pc is hooked up to my hdtv, so when sitting on the couch my mouse doesnt work so well. I could buy a new mouse, but after using the magic pad thingy I was thinking it was much easier to move about websites and click on episodes/movies. Im not saying I will get rid of my mouse, just certain times it would be easier for me.
So far, the sonar mouse works best (anybody else?), but I think it eats up the battery.

Yea im not sure if windows 7 even has pinch to zoom implemented.
maybe on touchscreen monitors but i doubt on the mouse.
I have remote droid setup in my startup list so after ive turned the pc on
i dont even need to touch the damn thing.
Also do you know about remote notifier? to get all your phone notifications
from your phone on your pc. thats good too if say youre phones downstairs.

[Q] Interesting discovery

So i was just browsing the web when i came across this YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F79sLcFwTU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Basically if you dont want to go look at it the video shows a guy using a wireless mouse and keyboard with his fire. Can anyone point me to a place where i can find more info?
Can't see UTube right now, but IF I had to guess he's using a custom ICS rom and a USBOTG cable with a Powered hub to provide enough power to the KB and mouse.

You can do it wirelessly, but you might get some lag(not good for games) using the Allshare Cast Dongle. Otherwise you might look at doing MHL to HDMI and using a PS3/Xbox controller. Not sure of the specifics, but here is a great video explaining all different ways.

OK so this might be a tall order, I've been looking for a way to Stream to my nexus 7 and nexus5 from my laptop...I know about the apps out there but they don't quite do what I would like them to... Those apps allow me to access files on my laptop,...here's an example of what I want to do...run media on my PC...say powerpoint and have my mobile devices see the presentation....but have it controlled from my PC..bonus points if anyone can find a way for this to work on android and iOS..... thanks in advance for thinking about it.

I think you can use iDisplay for this, it makes the tablet a secondary monitor for the computer
Chrome remote desktop. It shows everything thats on laptop screen on tablet. It allows control from PC or tablet.
I use chrome remote desktop as suggested and it working very well. Kind helpful when monitoring my pc when i'm away from home.
