[Q] So confused, tutorial on Custom ROMS? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Sorry to be such a newbie, but I am SO confused right now >.<
My Xperia Play was bought in the store unlocked, and the configuration says "Bootloader Unlock Allowed : Yes"
I was wondering if someone would kindly do a tutorial on what I would need to do e.g which would be the best ROM to use, how to install the custom kernal etc?
Thank you SO Much in advance!

[Q] some questions befor I root

Hi everybody,,
I am new here and I really need some answers before I root my phone.
I have xperi arc and I live in university campus,so I need to use proxy to open the internet.
what are the consequences of the rooting?
do I loose my warranty? do I loose the official update from SE? ( I have xperia arc), if yes then is there any way to update when rooted?
What I get more if I unlocked the bootloader?
if I unroot my phone , will it be exactly the same as before?
same questuon for the bootloader.
sorry if that was too long
Did you bother searching? Or perhaps you just missed the sticky?
Anyway, please refer to [Guide] All in one 'Namaste guide' to Bootloader unlocking, Rooting, Flashing & more. This should clear most of your doubts.
While you're at it, just watch this video.
Well yes i searched ,, but i didn't expect to find a general subject in xperia forums
i googled it but nothing could answer mu questions exactly
maybe because of my English
or maybe i don't know what should I write in the search box!
anyway,,, my thanks to you and yes iam noob
Glad I could help but do use the search more often.
Cheers!

Simple question please.

Hi,
I spent yesterday evening trying to answer this on various forums. I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but there was a few conflicting threads..
Can I install the Cyanogenmod 7.1 onto my Arc S which is Bootloader locked?
notes:
rooted ok.. but fastboot hangs at waiting for device which tells me it needs hardware unlock.
Sorry if this is old ground!!
No. No unlocked bootloader = no custom ROM on your phone.
From My Arc Running CyanogenMod.7.1
thanks
thanks for simple confirmation...
PM'd the guy offering remote SETools unlock..
thanks

Yes, and go to the general section and read the stickys before starting threads asking for what's been posted numerous times. Just because you're a noob doesn't mean you can't read.

[Q] Query

Hello,
Yes, I've gone through many pages in this website before posting this question .
(1) I'm using Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S (2.3.4 // 4.0.2.A.0.62). Let us say this configuration "State A".
(2) I wish only to root it. I don't wish to unlock bootloader. I don't wish to change my current OS version. Is this possible?
(3) Let answer to above question is "yes", and I root the phone successfully to, say, "State B". Then would it be possible, by some means, to bring the phone again in "State A"?
Thanks & regards,
Maria.

Thanks for the reply.
http://www.phonandroid.com/forum/post747948.html#p747948 is all about ERoot which is also available here in XDA at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711
However above page has a link http://www.phonandroid.com/forum/sony-et-android-pour-les-nuls-t25364.html which is very very useful for beginners like me.

Gapps iconia A100

Good morning everybody,
I'ld like to know if play store updated can be install on a custom rom?
Because i'm very limited on research results with this version.
Actually i'm on a " Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1 " build number. I'm also rooted but i can't find the unlock bootloader necessary to install custom rom.
If you tell me that Acer iconia is too old to get recent version of google play, i give up.
Or if it's feasible, can anybody indicate to me where can i download unlock bootloader folder to upgrade all this please.
I thank you by advance for all you do for the comunity.
Bests regards.
Ps: sorry for my english, i'm a french guy
