[Q] "Installation Complete" notification sound - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been doing some google searching and cannot find anything Im looking for. Maybe the vast and fantasmic XDA can help!
Im looking to find a way to set a ringtone for the event when an application or update is applied to the phone. I would like to set the C&C EVA voice "New construction options" as the sound that would play when an install completes.
As far as I can tell, there isnt anyway without a modding the system (is fine by me. I just need to know whare to look.), or 3rd party software (that I would like to stay away from.). Ive already changed my Lock.ogg and LowBattery.ogg. Just looking for some more personalization.
Right now Im running Evo4G HW004 w/SOS 1.9.0.9 ICS Sence Theme. Stock GB Kernel w/ WiFi-N Fix, and the latest radios and PRI. Im sure not all that is needed but someone always ends up asking.
Thanks for any info in advance.

Over 800 views and not even a "No"?
Just looking if I can add in custom notifications. Not change current ones, but add sound to events that normaly dont have sound notifications.
The main one Im looking for is when an app install has completed and you get the taskbar notification. I want to be able to set a sound to it as well.
Thanks

Maybe tasker can do this?

try asking swag about that there is a way to do just what your looking to do. you might have to decompile some apks and replace a few things and re zip with 7 zip. definitely swag can help you.

editing touchwiz lock screen

is there a way to edit it? This must have been asked a million times, but i don't mean with widget locker or lockbot or something like that. I find the clock tacky, since the notification bar is right there and i want to remove it. i'd imagine it would require rooting. thanks
yes
yes requires rooting because you would have to modify a theme zip like a stock theme then modify the .PNG then flash ....atleast thats the only way i know about it
You need to be rooted and running a deodexed rom. You then would have to do some xml edits to remove the clock

ok thanks guys. while i've rooted before, my epic still has the new phone smell and i'm still babying it. but could you help with this? is there a locking app that either:
1. overwrites that xml file or w.e. so that it is not active at the same time. (so they aren't fighting for domination?)
2. keeps the functionality of being able to swipe to missed texts, calls, e.t.c.
thanks.

There's different apps in the market that changes the lock screen. You might want to start looking into those

Can you point me in the direction where I can find a different lock screen zip for the epic thats not the TW one or the AOSP one?
Search isn't working right now...

Those two are pretty much it as far as lockscreens that work on the epic. You can get the rotary lockscreen if you use the cm6 beta, which I have found to be quite stable. Other than that you are going to need an app rather than a flashable zip.

I would recommend GOTO. Its in the market. Its a paid app, but as you unlock you can choose between messages, phone and gmail. You can change which apps it opens if you don't use the stock programs. I have been using it for a month or so. Just make sure you run through the setup twice to make sure the settings are set correctly. Initial setup is kind of tricky i though. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

[REQ] Port of WhiteMochi to Froyo/ACS.

My first post...been lurking around for a while.
I feel like this would probably be pretty simple for someone who knew more about what to do.
I tried flashing the zip, then tried using reframe.sh (through android terminal emulator) to reboot into just the framework, then tried editing the framework-res.apk by adding files and moving files to match other Froyo framework-res.apk files...but all of those things failed.
I didn't really anticipate my actions would have the desired effect, but I was trying.
I don't know what would have to be done. If it's simple and someone would be willing to update this for Froyo, I'd appreciate it. I think some others would as well.
In addition, if anyone could point me in the direction of some learning material for this kind of stuff, not just how to theme but also maybe some development guides for beginners, I would appreciate that as well.
Then I could just do this type of thing myself in the future.
Here's the link to an xda thread with WhiteMochi v0.003: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843204
Thanks in advance.
Think alot of themers on the Epic prolly got their start here using Dream's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821638
Good luck man!
I'll do it.
Do you want the clear notication bar or the solid one?
I would like the solid one, if you could. Thanks a ton.
And thanks to both of you. Definitely gonna check out that guide.

Haha I didn't. But a good guide never hurts.
Do you want the lockmod installed along side?
What exactly do you mean by the lockmod?
My current rom uses the AOSP lockscreen by default so it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I meant maddoggins lockmod for EC05. It includes 6 different locks.
Oh, no. I tried to install it but was having issues getting it to work.
The one straight from the lockmod thread didn't work (FC when trying to view Lockscreen Settings), I found a working version in the framework included with the Nebula rom/theme but didn't like the status bar.
I was under the impression the WhiteMochi just used the AOSP, or were you asking for another reason?

Haha I can make you a version of nebula with a different colored notification bar if you'd like.
I'm sure it uses the AOSP lock. I was just asking if you wanted me to implement the 6 lock.
If you could get the 6lock in with the Mochi that'd be sweet, but it's not necessary for me.
Would be a huge plus though, hahah.
Still looking for anyone willing to possibly port this over to Froyo/SRF.
I'm mainly just looking for a white status bar without a gaudy notification pulldown and attractive icons.
I tried FrostPort v1.2 but personally disliked the status bar icons (all of them).
I noticed that the Galaxy Prevail (the new prepaid Boost Android phone) has a nice white framework, so even a port of that would be killer.
I read up on theming and I have a basic understanding of what to do, it doesn't seem overly difficult. Only issue with me is that I work 5-6 days a week long hours so I don't always have time to devote to studying up/getting in practice...especially as of late.
I have two days off coming up which I'll most likely wind up devoting the bulk of to learning how to theme (devoted my last two days off to my phone as well...don't know how to feel about that).
In the meantime, however...once again...if anyone is up to the task, have at it. I would appreciate it, and I know others would too.
I'd like to see this theme... Where can I see screen shots of the original theme? I have no knowledge of Android Theming or anything. But if there's a pretty good guide, and by pretty good I mean something that will SHOW me how to do it, then I could give it a try. But I'm more visual so a walk through that's text only won't help.
This seems like its AOSP straight to the bone seriously just use the AOSP ROM, whats honestly different?
When trying to flash it via Clockwork it says "Amend script was disabled in this version" or some such thing, and then says "Installation Aborted".
Using reframe.sh causes the phone to not boot (sticks on boot anim).

[Q] Where did Settings>Privacy go?

I found two similar threads with no replies whatsoever so I figured I would post and see if I can get an answer...
Where did Settings>Privacy go? I have Gingerbread and I don't want my txts to display scrolling when the phone is on the lock screen.
Also, does anyone know why now when I'm in a phone call and get a txt I get the default sound instead of the txt sound I have set?
Thanks in advance for your time.
damn. that's a damn good question! I hate how it scrolls the texts too. don't want certain people to see everything. lol. hmmm. Yeah. sadly I could bet that it won't get fixed. we REALLY need to post a thread with all the current bugs in the stock software and which bugs can and can't be fixed by using a thirdparty rom.
privacy is still there for me
sitlet - what ROM and software revision are you running? I am on Fresh 4.2 and my software number is 4.24.651.1.
I am on the unrooted stock EVO gb 4.24 and privacy is gone.

I can't find "Privacy" in stock 2.3.3 either, but this mod may be what you're looking for.

[APP][REQ] SGSII Stock Clock/Alarm app apk for Galaxy Nexus

Hi All, I originally had a SGSII and then sold it and changed to the Galaxy Nexus just before Christmas. Now the one thing I absolutely miss is the brilliant Stock Alarm clock, which had the options to do pre-alarms and other stuff and basically just worked and even managed to wake me up which most dont seem to do that well.
Does anyone have the apk that they could point me to as would love to see if it works in my new phone.
Thanks in advance,
GD
Just wondering if there is a way I can extract it if I download a copy of the stock ROM? I'll pop it up somewhere for others once I get it out since I've spotted a number of posts asking for the same apk.
Its good to share
GD
Hello
I was searching for the exact same thing, cause i have the exact same problem! Did you find a way to do it?
I download one other alarm app but i dont like that solution, id rather have a native alarm clock with that integration, pehaps can't we notify android team to put it as a upgrade? Also, the app ive downloaded doesnt bring me the same experience i had with gs2's alarm... I have trouble trying to waking up but that alarm clock seems to resolve it..
Please keep us informed!

Hi vpena, glad its not just me
I've not had the chance yet to work out if there is a way to pull it from a stock rom, but will have time probably Friday to do the leg work. If I get anywhere I'll be sure to post it here for others to benefit from.
GD
Here it is, ripped from the ICS leak. I bet it won't work on a GNexus, since it probably relies on the TW-Framework.
Don't install through ClockWorkMod or open the apk on your phone, the zip file contains an apk which you should push to the system/app folder. You should probably know that already though.

Thank you! Using it on Spike's awesome ICS ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451346.
Thanks xethor, I'll give it a shot anyway as there is no harm in trying.... I looked at Gentle Alarm but it was just too much of a faff and over complicated for what I want....
Cheers, GD
Unsurprisingly it didn't work, but do appreciate people getting involved and hopefully someone will benefit from having the apk.
Cheers, GD

[Q] Ringtone quiet then LOUD annoyance...

I am sure i know the answer to this, but is there any way of fixing this without flashing a custom rom? Even if i have to root and keep stock, i am ok with that. I just wanna fix this STUPID stupid feature that samsung was obviously drunk and thought it would be a good idea to put in...
I hate that i have to edit my ringtones just to make them sound right for this stupid "feature"...
Like i said, even if I have to root, I am ok with that. I just want to keep my stock rom, UNLESS someone has found a way to make all the features of stock work in a custom rom with some perks (like spen opens snote or evernote, or wificalling is there, etc...good USEFUL features)
Some people modded the secphone.apk and got rid of it for s3...and i think it was for verizon or at&t. Try searching for it and you can try doing it yourself.

Download "Disable Increasing Ring" app from Google Playstore. Works great, no root needed.
