[Recovery] clockworkmod touch - G2 and Desire Z Android Development

The new face of clockworkmod!

Btw if someone could build a flashable version of the recovery in zip form. I would be greatfull.

Isn't the CM Touch Recovery already available in ROM Manager? Not for free though,

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ci8xkjbpywp9uxh
Needs work, screen resolution is too low, back button doesn't work (use power button) if there is source code I'll take a look. If you really want a touch recovery 4ext is superior at this stage.
Flash the above from recovery then reboot recovery.

Yea but if you can't donate. Your able to get it off there site but they don't give a way to install it easily. But if someone could make a zip everyone could install it

I just posted the zip. It's the mediafire link. Flash from recovery.

No I'm pretty sure he meant that touch recoveries are available in ROM manager (paid version)

I can confirm its available via ROM Manager. Just flashed it last night - not bad, cant wait for the back button to work though

Yes, I felt kinda weird it asked me to donate just to get it via rom manager... I already have the premium rom manager, so it should have not required me to, nonetheless, it's fine... A little support for the dev... Lol,

Afaik, Koush is a full time developer (I think he mentioned it Google+). Meaning he makes his living off his apps. It's not necessary to use a touch recovery so he made it paid, but with the option to download for free off his website. I personally don't mind supporting someone that does good work. Although I did sign up for the Android Police giveaway.

I'd pay for it if it were more full featured and didn't require do much scrolling due to the fonts and selections being way too big for the screen. It's just ugly.

Well, maybe you can get him to make it themeable. I hope the don't sizes are large enough that I don't need my reading glasses to read the screen.

If you wanna do a manual flash, it's pretty easy. Download the .img file and move it to your /platform-tools folder (assuming ADB and fastboot is installed), load up the terminal and use the usual command "fastboot flash recovery <img filename>.img"
Personally, I prefer the 4EXT touch recovery. As many have mentioned: lower resolution, lack of proper back-button.

manual installation isn't required with the zip I posted in the second post. Just flash the zip from your current recovery to install cwm touch.

Clockwork Touch
Man cuz... Its the cats pajamas

It has the old non-off-mode charging bug from cwm3 I'll post up one later that charges while off.

yeah, I agree, it seems that 4EXT has left clockwork/ROM manager in the dust these days! (both in the touch and classic realms)
Koush was the pioneer, but his student has far eclipsed him of late

So true... It's really due to having too many irons in the fire. He has a ton of side projects and didn't realize he was making a living off Android full time now. 4EXT is so much better in terms of bugs and usability but I think people still stick with CW is because it has wider support of devices and an easy download ROM list. Nice to see another from my hometown

I agree. But as said, I think it's because Koush is supporting a ton of different phones. 4EXT has been able to solely concentrate on a few phones.

FYI for ClockWorkMod 3.0.0.5 for CM7

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rom Manager now has clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 for CM7 to be flashed thru rom manager now along with the older versions for android 2.2. So no more flashing via fastboot or terminal, all our flashing and rom jumping can be done much easier all thru Rom Manager. Thanks ClockWork!
If I flashed 3 awhile back do I still press update now? Or do i select delete recovery then update?

Forgive my n00bness, but I am on 2.5.1.2 and can do all these things. I'm excited there's a new version out and I am very, very grateful for the hard work of those responsible. just wondering if I'm missing something...What all does 3.0.0.5 bring to the Glacier?

3.0.0.5 allows you to flash gingerbread based ROMs, basically CM7. According to @cmsrc on twitter today however, there may not be a need to switch through 2.5.1.2 and 3.0.0.5 soon. No time frame on that though yet I don't believe.

This is big in two ways
first of all
Previously we were not able to create a Nandroid backup. A nandroid backup is a snap shot of our OS in it's current state. So if we flash something new, a font, a boot image, what have you we are putting 100% of our faith in that flash that it will not screw anything else up. Because if it does we have to start at ground 0 again.
second of all
the developer of CWRM said that he would make the 3.x flash-able via the ROM manager when the CM7 build approached an RC status. So that isn't to far off.
So now am I gonna be able to update my rom(cm7) with rom manager automatically.

Flash from your current recovery, turn phone off, plug in and let it charge.
I did not create the recovery image which forum user damien667 most likely compiled, or whoever else would like to lay claim to it, just the flashable zip to install it. Standard CYO applies. I am not responsible for any damage or otherwise that may occur to your phone.
flashed it several times from several clockwork versions, should work just fine.
recovery 3.0.0.5 is courtesy of damien667 that i made flashable
recovery 3.0.1.4 by MikevHL - the only changes are that i unpacked the recovery image added the binaries required to charge with the screen off, repacked the recovery image and made it flashable, his changes can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988454
thanks go to Koush, damien667 and MikevHL

glad to see this made into a flashable recovery I know a lot of people will jump to use this, now that it doesnt require the "scary" fastboot method to install (though personally, I never had any problems with fastboot or adb, but to each his own).
However, I was wondering something about this, and had been asked this question in another recovery thread: would it be possible to mod this recovery to incorporate the mods from the other custom recovery made recently that removed some of the redundant selections, as well as gave an option to power off the phone, rather than just reboot and turn off or pull the battery? This would be the perfect recovery if those features could be combined, even though its already pretty darn good as is.
DUDE!!! Thank you so much for making the recovery flashable!
appreciate the work on all sides. thanks mexdroid, thanks amazinglarry ( <--- is that from a movie?)

Larry just put it in a flashable zip go ask mexdroid if he asked for permission if you care that much. Were just spreading the word kthxbai.
P.s. it was referenced as mexdroid because they were the ones who did the mod. But if it makes you feel better we could name it "Koush' Clockworkmod Recovery 3.0.0.5 modded by Mexdroid to charge while off and placed into flashable zip by Amazinglarry"
I got this from another thread, some time ago, and it works perfect. I had no idea it was the mexdroid guys who modded it lol.
Thanks for the awesome work!
has anyone tried doing a nandroid backup from rom manager... while restoring it from recovery by restarting into hboot and loading recovery... comming from desire... over there we had an issue where the phone recovery was updated to 3.0.0.5 whiile rom manager recovery was 2.5.0.7.... so backing up or restoring from rom manager would use 2.5.0.7 recovery while direct loading of recovery would pop up with 3.0.0.5..... and this was not just a mere annoyance......
if you made backup from one recovery and tried to restore from other it would give errors......
so guys who have tried this modded recovery can you please check and than confirm or deny any issues with making nandroid backup and resotring em from alternating recoveries (ie via rom manager and direct recovery) ....

[Tool] Flashable Zip Recoveries

This is for those times when you want to change your recovery but don't have access to a desktop. You need to already have a custom recovery installed otherwise you can't flash the zip (duh!).
Here are some common recoveries in flashable form:
Stock_Optimus_V_Recovery.zip
aospCWMod-VM670-20110531_Recovery.zip
CWM_3.0.2.4_Recovery.zip
Thunderc-v-1.2.0-GNM_Recovery.zip
Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_VM_Recovery.zip
Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_Recovery.zip (Optimus S)
Xionia_CWMA_12518.6_Recovery.zip (Optimus S)
You don't need to do anything special for these. Flash them and your recovery will be changed.
If you want to flash a recovery not listed above using your current recovery, use the following directions:
Make sure your recovery image is not corrupt before using this.
Rename your recovery of choice to vrecovery.img
Place vrecovery.img in the root of your micro SD card
Place Flash_vrecovery.zip anywhere on the micro SD card
Reboot into your custom recovery and flash the zip
Enjoy!
This is fantastic! Thank you.
Wicked Love it! Thanks Dude
is there a way to flash a custom recovery from the stock recovery, my brother flashed the wrong clockwork on his optimus v and now we can't install roms and it currently doesn't have a rom on it. that's a lot of formatting in your post ;p
on the quick side:
so, my kitkat rom thread and twrp (both in my signature) still have live links to Google drive.
but...
kitkat pretty much requires setting up a sacrificial sd card with that twrp, which you can't remove from the phone. higher speed is better for the card.
that twrp has a kernel which reverses system and userdata, so even if you put it in internal mode, you have to modify updater-scripts to swap all mentions of system and userdata for it to work. with anything I didn't build, like anything pre-kitkat.
I have harmonia (important to set up the phone for activation) but if it's like my Evo 3d, you'll have to manually set the date back to 2019 or whenever the security certificate expired to get the activation app too connect or it'll just error out.
I also have a zip of harmonia I "fixed" to work with that twrp.
somewhere I also have bobzhome GB. and I think a reversed zip of that too.
I might even have older custom recoveries.
if you search around Google you might find the bobzhome rom stashed away downloadable, I was still able to grab it within the last year.
after a while I'll dig and upload stuff to my gdrive.
it sucks that Android file host deleted all my OV files though. I had a lot there.

This thread found right below my post will be of the most importance to you involving your current situation with your recovery. If you go to the CWM team website, I have linked here and browse the list of phones you'll find that the touch recovery for the AT&T variant is at 6.0.1.4. Just right click on the version number, (Don't left click as it will come up with a page full of random symbols.) and press save as and save it to the desktop. This is the bare .img file. It will have the full file name but before saving it rename it to; (without quotes) "recovery.img". After that follow the steps in the link below in order to flash it with ADB. (Since the other recommended ways aren't working for you).

ROM manager does not recognize the touch recovery since technically it is still considered experimental. Only the basic volume control recovery is recognized. This goes with saying with the free version of this app installed. I however, am not sure as to whether it recognizes it after upgrading to premium as it is a premium feature of ROM Manager.

Its alright if it isn't recognized by ROM Manager. As I said it is still considered "experimental" so it isn't supported by the app. I have had the premium version installed and it wouldn't let me flash the CWM-T through the app. Only when I used ADB did I get through. Still says nothing is installed. Just a little glitch on the developer's side if anything. Don't stress about it, once you can boot into your recovery your good.

If I flash the zip will I have the lokized issue, has anyone flashed the zip? I had trouble with md5sum not matching the browser download until I used goo manager. Has anyone used OTG backup/restore?
I've been very happy with TWRP but this recovery is looking interesting

I have a developer edition and do not want loki, just wondering if I have to go through the hassle of removing it.

Read the FAQ please
And anyway, I did not enable the loki flag in installer
Also, I do not think loki even supports this device
If you once need it, let me know and I will enable it. You won't be hurt as the image is never released lokied. It is done on flashing it

Cool, have you used it with other devices? I noticed it's also available for my backup phone, lg spectrum and that's a plus.

No only this device...I sold my N2 before I had a chance to try it but it seems to be very popular. I love the customability to change the layout and colors of all the menus...that is just scratching the surface.
I just read the op (1-3) again and have a few questions but am still confused and/or don't know enough to ask meaningful questions. I have my zips and should be able to switch back and forth so will start there. Looks like others in our group are also interested.

Well my zips work and I can switch back and forth. I won't be using customizing much and find the way the cursor always shoots back to the top item when selecting something me wonder what I selected, was that setting on or off? Found the soft buttons on the bottom the easiest way to navigate. I tried to use an OTG drive, it seems to mount but I was unable to do anything with it and it looks like when you leave the mount menu it unmounts, at least it was not available for browse from the install from zip menu. The UI is blindingly fast, like instantaneous and very nice on the eyes. I would have to get used to the whole thing though so first impression is overkill. A sweet and simple recovery it is not. I would like to hear some reviews from the rest of you
