im rooted with an unlocked bootloader... i thought yout cant use seus after the bootloader is unlocked because it will brick it?
I had this happen to me I think...when you hold the power button does it feel like it wants to turn on and doesn't...keep holding it down and it just vibrates a lot?
yeah sometimes it vibrates a couple of times somtimes not at all... but i cant get flashmode to work the light goes red instead of green... find any solutions?
Don't have the link on me right now but you can relock your bootloader through flashtool if you can get flash mode working (check the dev section, theres a thread on it there). Unfortunately it sounds like thats not possible at the current time so I'm pretty sure your only other option is talking to Alejandrissimo or anyone else who does test point unlocks to see what options you have, that being said I'd put money on them being able to do something. Check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322827
sorry correct me if im wrong but i unlocked my bootloader the official way.... from what i understand it cant be relocked and do you have to pay for those test point unlocks ? it says on his thread that the cause is omnius? what is omnius? thanks
This happened to me, I got lucky after sitting at the computer for a prolonged period of time I got it to work. with flashtool I re-locked the phone then used a sony tool to update and restore.
For the official unlock way you can relock with the .ftf file, again you'll need to enter flash mode to do it though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134334
As for the test point unlocks, unlocks generally run ~$24, but thats not what you need (I wouldn't think), so I don't know how much they would charge you, if anything. Reason being to unlock the phone it takes "credits" using that tool (or any test point unlock) and those cost them money, depending on what is done to fix your phone it may not use any. But of course the only way to know is to ask them.
Do you know how you got flash tool to work because im lost. the red light just comes up when I press the back button and then it starts charging I think because it goes orange then green but it Wont go into flash mode ? could i be doing something wrong?I really appreciate all the help guys sorry.

Ya I'm not sure, might mean its too dead for flashtool, but it does recognize it... Weird, anyway lets do a quick run through. Turn the phone off, seeing as it wont boot just pull the battery then put it back in and close it up. Hold the back key and plug it in to your computer (make sure you hold, not just press). If it goes green, you're golden and can continue on your way. If it turns any other colour, you have a problem. I'm sure you're doing it right but check this tutorial anyway:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/tutorial-how-to-flash-a-firmware-using-flashtool-on-xperia-arc/
Could just be a driver problem or something. Anyway if you can't get flashtool to work, then you can't use SEUS, leaving you with only a couple options. You could try messing around with fastboot if you can get into fastboot mode (blue light), maybe boot into recovery, clear stuff, maybe flash CM7 kernel and all, I don't know. The only other option (aside from sending it in of course) would be to talk to someone who does the test point unlocks, because odds are they've seen this before, and really I'd say this is your best option if you can't get flashtool working. Just follow that link I posted before about the unlock and follow the link in their sig, on the site it even mentions repairing the phone if it wont turn on. Anyway thats all I've got, good luck and keep us posted.
unfortunately iv'e tried everything nothing worked. iv'e just emailed alejandrissimo to see if he can help. quick question my warranty is gone but do you think i would be able to trick them into a replacement if i play dumb? because they cant exactly turn on my phone . if i say it overheated then cut out and wouldn't work?
i really appreciate all the help
You could try, I mean of course wait on a response from Alejandrissimo first, but keep in mind you did the official unlock, you had to provide sony with your IMEI, meaning they at least know you GOT the unlock code specific to your phone. But that being said if you do send it in any excuse really depends on who you get and maybe some luck. Like I said though, I'm fairly confident Alejandrissimo might be able to pull something off, so hope for the best and let us know how it plays out.
*EDIT* This sound familiar?

Hopefully that's all it is, note the free part , also I did some reading about some other xperias having the red light problem and some were just faulty battery related (not that I think it is in this case but its still a possibility)

Hi guys,
I did something very stupid and it seems I've bricked my arc for good
My Arc had unlocked bootloader and was on rooted 2.3.2. When the phone found firmware OTA update, I chose to download it, then the phone rebooted and started installing new firmware. After a minute or so, it turned off and that was the end, it's not possible to turn it on any more. The led won't even lit up. Is there anything I can do to revive it ?
Arrrgh, this exact same thing happened to me, I woke up and it said there was software update available (I have unlocked bootloader and rooted 2.3.2)
I blame still being mostly asleep on hitting ok. Now I have a brick!
Some more info.
I've tried pulling the battery and putting it back in, It still won't power on.
I've tried holding down menu and plugging it into USB to reflash it and the blue light doesn't come on.
Sorry to hear that, and many people have this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106250
Can't update firmaware through OTA after unlocking bootloader
Sorry to hear about your phone
I always turn of the "auto check for updates" thingy on android. Learned the hard way on my Desire when it got updated to Froyo over OTA and had to wait a while for root lol.
Anyway,SE provided the info to unlock the bootloader and that an OTA coming from them bricks the phone is kinda silly. Far as i know u can't update through SEUS (might be wrong) when it's unlocked and it would be a nice idea maybe to not be able to install the OTA update either.

won't work if you can't get it into flash mode.
Can't you get it into Fastboot mode (give it a few hours charge..) then pull the battery for 30 seconds...
then hold the menu button while plugging the usb cable in... should (in theory) go into fastboot mode - then you can fastboot flash a fresh system.img

Tried - no help though. Any other ideas? Or just to go and buy a new one?
By the way, did the same thing: my Arc LT15i has/had unlocked bootloader, rooted 2.3.2 (first firmware) and is/was 3.0.A.2.181. While preparing to try to lock bootloader in order to use SEUS and upgrade firmware, I've connected the phone which asked me to check for the updates and found T-mobile update (approx. 40Mb). Asked to dowloand and an idiot pressed "OK". And now, everything is black - just as the mask of the phone is.
The green light just blinks when the "power on" button is pressed, or charger is plugged in.
Can't it be unbricked with flashtool?

[UPDATE] to my previous post:
Steps I have done:
1. Charged the battery for 4-5 hours
2. Flashed my Arc using the manual for flashing by @Step666
3. The progress went well and at the end there was a message:
"INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
INFO - Then go to application settings
INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging"
I have tried to turn on the phone. There was a small vibration as when you're turning on the phone (note: before flashing there was not even this vibration when pressing power on button), but the screen remains black.
Any ideas for next step(s)? Thanks for trying to help!

How can you repair a bricked phone with pc companion? Dont u need the phone to be booted and running?
No, but it will need flash mode. Hold back button while plugging in usb to pc. If not recognized, use Wotan server.

Found the problem myself, after sliding up the little black test point cover, it interfered with the screen, so holding the top left corner tight enabled the screen, so shook the phone a bit and it's fine now, must have been wedged somewhere it shouldn't have been.

I know this has been asked before, but I just can't find a answer. I am really new to this and just wanted to use cyanogenmod because I heard it makes your phone faster.
Ok, so I really want to get Cyanogenmod (should I ask this on they're forums?) on my xperia arc, it was rogers branded, lt15a, .42. So apparently it wasn't for lt15a, so I spent hours trying to find a working rom for lt15i .42, and finally I did it. So I flashed to it and root it and get my stuff off my titanium backup, and go to install cyanogenmod from the clockworkmod menu (I installed it from xperia cwm auto-install). I go down to install from zip, blah blah blah select cyanogen's .zip, and get assert prop error lt18i. That was weird, because on the zip it says its for lt15i, and it said lt15i before when I tried using my lt15a. So I read something on here that said to remove the assert prop stuff from the updater-service file or something, so I did that. I went to install cyanogenmod and it said it was successful and it rebooted my phone. It went to the sony ericsson logo, and wouldn't leave. I go to restore it using the PC Companion update, but it just says it can't detect it. So I go to use flashtool and none of them work. But it said to turn off the phone, obviously it wouldn't turn off, so I took out the battery. Now it just won't turn back on! Have I permanantly bricked it? I can't send it in, because it had root checker and stuff on there. What do I do?
Sorry for the wall of text
Didnt you take a backup before installing the zip???
If so...just restore it through CWM.

It took a long time, many errors, but I do have a backup in rom manager from before I started trying to use cyanogenmod. But it didn't work when I tried it before I bricked my device, and I can't access CWM because I get stuck on sony ericsson and won't let me pass

i already read about rooting and all the terms included but my case is very specific
my Xperia arc S(LT18) has a password when i received from a friend i think someone send it to him from the U.S or Europe not sure(it has a vodafone Sim in it) so i tried to fix it through the sony update program

so i cannot format and cannot enter the phone so i tried to root it and followed the instructions from this link

I have never come across this issue, but if I had that problem, I would most definitely flash the firmware again just to make sure I get a clean, issue-free phone. Do note however, flashing does fail on occasions so flashing more than once is sometimes necessary.
Good luck!
I TRIED Flashing many times but i think, its not even flashing because it says at the end after saying flashing has ended that to Enable usb Debugging but i cant do that!!! also flashing takes 10 seconds and according to what i saw on you tube videos it should take 2 min

hmm strange. You don't need to enable debugging mode to flash a new rom. Are you using the latest flashtool? and are you flashing a kernel instead of a rom? :/

ww.androidlegend.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-arc-s-lt18i-running-ics-4-0-4-firmware
i got flash tool then downloaded ICS 4.0.3 Firmware (4.1.A.0.562).\
i flashed but it seems it didnt work because theflashing happened very quickly like 10sec but i saw in some youtube videos that it should take 2-3min
theses are the last 4 lines in the flashtool
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - Flashing finished..
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
06/030/2012 22:30:03 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
06/030/2012 22:30:04 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
i think its telling me i should check the debugging option but i cant do that
when i try to root nothing happens just says waiting for device
+ if i try to turn on the phone it just says after the Sony Ericsson logo the phone has crashed and violet led flashes and just keeps restarting

Hello guys.
My Sony Xperia S got Hard bricked after i tried to partition my SDcard from TWRP recovery which unfortunately failed due to some reason.....
I had boot manager installed for dual boot and i had sony stock firmware 6.1.A.2.55 on the native and CM10 on loop ...
The partition was tried in TWRP for loop in Ext4 format
My Xperia S now does not respond to fastboot buttons as well as all other combinations ...
It doesnt light any LED not even while its connected to the charger..
The only thing that happens is when i connect it using USB cable without any combinations and the computer detects it as SEMC flash device..
Is there any method to flash using this mode?
I have tried every method on all the forums.(flashtool, fastboot, taking battery out ,power+vol up,everything )
Guys please i need serios help any experienced suggesions would be helpful ...
Please help :crying:
PS: i had never thought that trying to partition the SDcard would brick my phone..
Did you leave your phone connected to wall charger? How many hours you leave it? Mine SONY logo appear in 8 hours. Try it. It may help. Leave your phone connected yo wall charger for sometime.

Okay ill try that for sure and let u know
Wow i don't know how ...but just as i connected it to the charger the orange LED shows up .....But there is no sony logo anyway ...lets wait
nope nothing happened except the LED that glows :crying:
How the duck did you take your battery out? It has an INBUILT one, why would you take apart the entire phone?
Then, after telling you how stupidly you did that;
can you go back into the recovery? (probably yes, but it's weird)
Did you ACTUALLY take apart the phone to take the battery out? (probably not)
Do you have an unlocked bootloader? (i think you do, but not sure...)
Do you still have warranty? (probably yes)
Try again, because if the orange LED showed up, it's probably not too late...
Now go and use FlashTool once more...

yes i took the phone apart took the battery out ...waited long enough for the capacitors to discharge and then again put it in...
no i can't get back into the recovery ...i can't even boot the phone and no combination is working
yes i have an unlocked bootloader
no on't have the warranty..
The orange LED glows up while charging only
the phone does not go to fastboot or any other mode so i can't use flash tool
the only thing that comes on the computer when i plug the USB is "SEMC flash device" ....which non of the tools recognise
Guys please ...is there anyone out there who can help me? :crying:
I do believe you DID have warranty up until the moment you took apart the phone (I think the repair service guys would fix your phone without chacking for a locked BL...)

They wont know you took it apart. There is no tamper protection.

Exactly they dont have any protection against that.....and i dont think any phones with an inbuilt battery would have such protection....

I'm starting to think that my case could be a corrupted bootloader, where I have to use JTag to try to save, but I don't know anyone who have a JTag, neither in my country.
I don't know what could be, but I still entering in flashmode or fastboot and my PC recognize my phone with testpoint, so I think that maybe is not a hardware problem...

Hi, I decided to post it here because it seems that anything I post on Xperia Ion forum is not read, it is inactive.
I already searched everywhere and I'm loosing my hopes. I'm trying to revive an Xperia Ion and this is what I get:
When I plug the phone in the wall charger the red led turns on for some minutes and then turns off.
The same happens when I plug on PC, when the led turns off it is detected as "Somc flash device" in windows device manager and this shows in flashtool:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Nothing changes if I plug in pc with volume + or - pressed, it don't goes into fastboot or flashmode.
I hope you could help me. Thanks

I recently acquired a new r800x which came with 2.3.4, and thus can't be zerg'd. I tried to unlock the bootloader but the service menu has no status (yes or no) on the bootloader and sony didn't send me an unlock code when I tried their website. It's my understanding that stock firmware can be flashed with a locked bootloader but I can't make it work. I downloaded the latest flashtool from flashtool.net, installed the flashboot and adb drivers and got a copy of R800x_3.0.1.E.0.88_Verizon ftf. But when I start flashtool and connect my phone (usb debug & unknown source enabled) It isn't recognized and prompts for user selection. I select Xperia play, go to flashmode, select the firmware and get to the waiting for phone screen. Power off, hold back and connect, but nothing ever happens after that.
I've looked for tutorials on here and elsewhere, but none seem to address my problem, or if they do have a solution that doesn't work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm hoping I just missed something that can be easily corrected.
Thank you.

Go into the flashtool program folder on your pc and then open the folder called drivers, run the program in there select the options for xperia play drivers and flashtool and fastboot drivers.
Many thanks, that did the trick. I had installed the play driver but missed the other two. Sigh, it's always a driver problem with android. Funny part to me is that the driver step varies with every phone and that's the step the tutorials and readme's always gloss over like it's self explanatory. No worries though done and good. Thanks for your help.
