[Q] Going back to Sense 3.0 from Cyanogen? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
I used the Ace Hack Kit to root my Desire HD, then out of curiosity installed the CyanogenMod, and I wonder if I can go back to HTC Sense 3.0 now?
If it is possible, will I still have root?
Thanks
Android version
2.3.7
Baseband version
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel version
2.6.35.14-cyanogenmod-g9e5cdf1
[email protected] #1
Mod version
CyanogenMod-7.1.0-DesireHD
Build number
GWK74

I am assuming you have successfully installed CM and therefore have root.
If you have been able to install CM successfully, you can install any other ROM with the same process. There are many ROMS in the development forum.
Pick you fav ROM
Download it
Check the MD5 (an important but not a compulsory check)
Put the file on SD card
Boot into recovery
Choose Install from SD Card
Navigate to the location of ROM
Select to install it
If you want to go back to Sense 3.0, I recommend you try out Android Revolution (ARHD) roms, you can try out Runny based roms if you want Sense 3.5 and if you are ok without video recording and WLAN support, you can even try out LC's ICS rom if you want Andorid 4.

Thanks so much for the reply, I was wondering if I could go back to the stock HTC sense 3.0 rom because that's actually the only I like the most.
Is it possible to have root with a stock rom?

You will find the stock ROM right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235
it's already rooted. so u dont need to root your device again
flash it just like u did with CM

Thanks so much for that link!
One last question please, After I flash the stock rom, can I still get software updates from HTC?

No, u won't get any HTC Updates. I don't think this is what you want because u would have to flash a RUU and loose root permissions.

[Q] New to Android - Question about ROM's - Help a newbie!

Hi All,
I have finally after a couple of years decided to move away from the Apple iPhone and buy an Android handset. As such I bought the Desire HD which I absolutely love however I wanted to debrand it using the latest software.
What I did was use the Goldcard technique to Downgrade my phone. I did this succesfully and debranded my phone, however what I realised was that I am now running a older (debranded) software.
Can anyone please assist me by providing with me some steps so that I can flash my phone again with the latest stock HTC Desire HD rom (debranded - is there a link?) or a very stable new ROM? I wouldnt mind version 2.3 if its available... I'm with Vodafone Australia and this is a Vodafone handset.
I have been told that the Goldcard method isn't the best way to do it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Please excuse my questions as I am very new and not very good with Linux. I am very technically minded so I can pick things up quickly but I need some guidance as I have no idea about half the stuff people talk about here....
If you want stock Desire HD rom, you can flash back the RUU (2.2 Froyo). If you like 2.3 Gingerbread, you can try Cyanogen Mod 7 custom rom.
But for the most stable & battery efficient , you can try android revolution hd rom, leedroid, core droid rom.
You can view the list of rom (and also step-by-step to flash it) at the development thread located here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I used this guide to downgrade my Desire HD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 - This debranded my phone which is what I wanted however I also realise it is not the latest build. Is this what you are you referring too when you say RUU 2.2 Froyo Rom?
If not, do you have a link to the one you are referring too?
That page you just linked to was for people who had the 1.72blahblah firmware, but wanted to downgrade to 1.32blahblah in order to root their phones.
The official firmware can be found on this page:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
...and the latest available firmware is this:
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe
thanks for that, now how do I flash this? I assume the same way I did it before?
With the stock RUU exes, you don't put them on your phone and flash via Clockwork (or whatever) like you do with custom ROMs. You run the exe from your PC with the phone connected via USB and HTC Sync.
There is a comprehensive guide somewhere on this site.

Looking for Stock Rooted ROM

Hi,
I have rooted HTC Desire with latest version LeeDroid on it. I am not satisfied with this version of leedroid. It lags a lot. now i am thinking to try stock rom again. but the problem is if i use it then I wouldn't be able to use any other ROM because it would revoke its "root" status.
could someone suggest me any STOCK ROOT rom?
OR - Some clean rom with Sense ?
Teppic74's rooted stock ROM. Links to all roms here:

Although its actuall this one:

[Q] Stock google roms

Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.

[Q] info about update..

hey people..
i bought a new desire HD and updated to android 2.3.5..
so at the time rooting it got downgraded to 2.1 ,so is thr any way to upgrade it to 2.3.5 again..witout loosing the root.?
The whole point of rooting is to flash other roms - besides the other things you can do.
You would need to search for one in the dev section, and if you aren't partial to sense roms, you can even get a 2.3.7 Gb rom.
Sent from a dream.
you must flashed other ROM same from XDA Forum dev
u must download custom rom and flash it from recovery, or u can download ROM Manager apk
if you're looking for 2.3 i would recommend Android Revolution(for full sense experience and much speedier over stock) or the BlackIce if you're into minimalistic themes and lots of usefull system/system tools.
You can try this rooted Ruu 3.12.***
you can easly use the custom ROM's or use the RUU ( officiall ROM ).
download any of them and go to recovery then flash the new ROM's.
enjoy it..

ROM Question

So here is a question that I cannot find the answer to. If a ROM like Android Revolution HD is based off the 1.29.401.12 Firmware and I have a 1.29.707.11 based phone, can I install the ROM? I know I would have to unlock and install a custom recovery, but is it possible? I ask because I thought I read somewhere you cant mix firmware updates (ie x.xx.401.xx and x.xx.707.xx) without S-Off or it would cause problems.
Thanks in advance!!

There should be no problem to install latest ARHD ROM. I did it many times coming from stock with different numbers. Any way most of your stock files are reflashed by ROM files. ARHD is universal ROM for any HOX Internatioanal versions.
Since you are replacing the whole firmware, the version of the one you are replacing should not matter.
However, make sure that the new ROM has support for your specific hardware!

Thanks, I shall try the ROM this weekend or next!!
