The Galaxy Nexus is released today in the Netherlands so i bought one.
I really like the phone and was ready to root it tonight but then i got a phonecall.
The speaker sounds awfull...like the speaker has blown up...its hard to hear what the other person is saying with all that vibration coming out of the speaker.
Anybody else having this issue?

Audio streaming quality post EK02 - "popping" or "clicking" via bluetooth
Anyone experiencing any popping, clicking or static when streaming music from Pandora, Google Music, etc.
I tested streaming using a EG30 versus a EK02 updated E4GT and on the EK02 I am getting an intermittent click or pop on music playback. This used to happen on the Evo 4G a while back, but an update fixed it at some point. I stream my music via bluetooth to my car stereo.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Don't know why it happens but it sucks!

You're not talking about the normal horrible stock Android Bluetooth sound? Where the audio sounds too "hot " or just distorted?

For me it was like a faint buzzing or what ever u call it...

especially during high pitched sound? such as a guitar solo or cymbols?
if so, this is typical for Stock android devices. the only think I know of that fixes is it Cyanogen.
they got a whole lot of nowhere over in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708685
except to verify that it's pretty much a stock thing on most android phones. Which is F'ing idiotic. Who would be android's biggest competitor? iphones? how did people start on that? replacing their ipod, right? yeah...ipods don't have this problem and it pisses me off to no end that no phone manufactures give a damn to fix it.

Just an fyi, I can guarantee that this is not an android problem. I know this because this problem has been plaguing me for a while, and the only satisfaction I got was when I had the nexus s. The problem lies somewhere in the Bluetooth stack that Samsung (and some other manufacturers implement). Its either the fact that the encoding is changed from mp3 to something else (I forget which format), or they changed the lowered the bitpool to increase range but sacrifice quality.
I'm dying for someone to find a solution to this.

How am I the only one not having this problem? ....unless I just haven't noticed it. What music player are people hearing this on? I am using PowerAmp

I am no audiophile but I agree. Using pandora, poweramp and radio.com all work with no noticeable issues on an old set of Motorola bluetooth stereo headphones.

Pretty sure it's the Bitpool setting. CM7 worked wonders on my Evo 4G on this issue. In fact, it's now why I have my wife's Evo and she has the S2.
I'd really describe the sound as more of a cracking noise that is especially prevalent on guitars and/or cymbals.
I'd be completely pleased with the stock ROM and simply setting the Bitpool higher.
Resurrecting this thread, searched forum to no avail. Does anyone know of a fix to this problem? I just purchased a new JVC KD-X50BT headunit for my car and am experiencing this annoying, no, unacceptable noise while streaming from my Epic Touch. My wife has the GS3 & it sounds amazing when using it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Just to clarify, the issue is that the audio over bluetooth makes it sound like the tweeters are blown (they aren't http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/wink.gif), it's only really noticeable in higher frequencies, and only over bluetooth.

I am one of only a few people that share your same experience. For more info check these threads here and here.
So far, my research tells me it basically has to do with the bitpool setting in the kernel. Times_Infinity's AOKP seems to be the only ROM with the bitpool set high enough to eliminate the problem. I hope to soon dive into kernel source myself and see if I can do some bitpool editing and see how far it goes on other ROMs. No promises though.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it's been narrowed down to the Bluetooth stacks. Subscribed to your thread & hope for some progress toward resolving this issue. Fwiw, I have the problem regardless of the source. SD card (via PowerAmp), Pandora, calls, all same experience over Bluetooth. Le stink! Lol
solution
Keep the screen on while streaming ...problem solved ...some how when screen goes of connection becomes staticky .....but it will drain the battery fast ....u can adjust the screen brittleness setting to lowest to save battery. ...
Hey everyone, I looked around and didn't see anyone asking about this. Basically I am just needing to know if I need to do a warranty exchange or if the phone is working as designed.
I am coming from a Atrix, and it had the best speaker of any phone over ever had. Now I have the Galaxy nexus and it is very hard for me to hear the phone ring at all, or if I am watching a movie in a room with no noise it, it is hard to hear...
Is this normal? Anyone able to compare it to the Atrix?
Thanks

You didn't look very hard. It's a known issue. Try volume+ from the market.
Also custom kernels with a volume fix.

So I just realized while I was surfing the web in a silent room, I hear a clicking sort of sound from my phone. So I held it up to my ear and it was sent, then I decided to touch and click on a few things. When I did I heard a click and a faint white noise coming from the speaker, it lasted about 4-5 seconds.
Then I began to wonder if this had to do with my terrible battery life. Does anyone else notice this sound?
I'm on sprint galaxy nexus with AOKP-JB (I have not yet tried another ROM to see if its the cause.)

As far as I'm aware it happens to all (most?) GNs' does on mine and there was a thread on if previously. Don't think its a real issue

I use me phone several hours a day on voice calls. I have used my headset (blue parrot) with a bunch of phones and never had any problems with the volume. In fact the headset is so loud I rarely have to have the volume all the way up. I got the note on Saturday and the volume on my headset while using this phone is very low with the volume all the way up on the phone and headset. This is just for voice calls, I watch YouTube videos and Skype calls are just fine, just the voice calls. I have went through the settings and can't figure it out. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I'm seriously considering going back to the gs3 over this. I'm gonna call sprint and see if they can help me out. I'll keep you informed.

Widely recognized problem. Volume is a bit better on the Jelly bomb ROM. Haven't found any other ROMs that help much.
