Lowest brightness on a back picture?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Not fear when I am just browsing on the web etc. my screen is using like 65% of my battery but I get just 3 hour and 40 min on lowest brightness.
Search here, you can get almost 11 hours with black on lowest brightness setting!
haha ...

Had that going all night while on standard battery. Would have lasted longer if the black pixels had actually turned off. I think thats an app shortcoming though with deskclock.
It was on autobrightness fwiw (not much at that point).
This is great! I was sooo hoping we would get yet another battery thread to troll! Pass the popcorn

It's not a limitation of the clock app, that's just how the GNex deals with perfect black. There is a minimum voltage. You will see it in any app with pure black. Try a black photo, a black video, or even noLED.
Also, burn in is a risk with this phone, I have read. So it might not be a good idea to lead the clock mode on all night (correct me if I'm wrong). The noLED app moves the clock around to different pixels to avoid that.

OK I hope someone finds this useful and/or can verify. I was one of those people getting awful battery life, meaning lucky to last 8 hours from 100% to 0%. The "Android OS" process would take hours of CPU time. Now it will take up maybe 30 min over the course of the day. Here is the only thing I did between the time it went from bad to good. I changed the wifi sleep policy. It is by default (for me at least) set to never. I changed it to "when the screen turns off" and left it there for about an hour. Then went in and changed it back to never. From the point of doing this my battery life has been great.
I know it sounds strange but it seems to have worked for me so I thought I would share.
Yeah, battery life is going to depend on services that are running on the background. It'll be different from people to people. You shouldn't exchange your phone because you're not getting the same results as someone else.
I dunno how you guys are getting that battery life. I think there must be something really messed up on my device. Stupid "Android OS"!
Screenshots show at 38% after 6.5 hours off the charger.
I'd post a link to some screenshots if I could. But my Android OS is at 27% and display is at 47%.
I was thinking about switching to the GN from my atrix once the ROM development picks up so I have a little bit more of a choice, but I was wondering right now how battery life is. How long does the battery last for and how heavily do you use it? Also it might be helpful if you post any gripes about the phone too. I've heard it has a yellowish tint, but people said that about the atrix as well and I never saw it.

I dont have the nexus yet, but dont expect atrix battery life. Thats for damn sure. I just hope it can make it through a whole day, though realistically ill prolly be charging at the end of my work day on my way home from work and i can live with that. I just the sound chip is on par with the wolfson on the atrix. I didnt realize how good it was til i did some comparisons last night.

So far I've been getting around 20 hours I think, with moderate use.

There are a few threads on battery life already.
Depends entirely on the usage.
With relatively light usage including some browsing and some media playback + twitter/facebook/email/tweetdeck sync I got this after 1 day:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

If you use high brightness levels and lots of screen time you can expect a lot less.

Sorry for making a new thread, I was in a hurry and didn't want to forget to ask.
But does anyone have anything bad to say about the phone? Besides quadrant being low, I don't care about that.

And no I'm not talking about Juice Defender. I'm looking for something that'll allow me to see which apps are keeping the phone awake and use the most battery life. Something is making my battery drain and I'm not sure what it is. There are people on here going 18+ hours with 5 hours screen time and still having 10% left. I typically get 2 hours of screen time before I'm dead. Check out my stats from today. I hardly even used the phone at all!
I've set all of the apps I actually use to sync on 1 hour or longer intervals. Nothing is syncing in 5 minute intervals or something.

Watchdog in the market will tell you what app is running in the background. When I push home instead of back when I use Dolphin Browser, watchdog tells me its running in the background.
Try it.

That first pic is beautiful.
I'm still getting the hang of moving while taking the pic... It does a really good job of stitching the pics together, but sometimes I notice that things will get a little skewed, particularly if the camera's at an angle.

yeah it is really hard to not move too fast or jerk a little, especially in -40 degree weather with no glove on (so you can change setting to panorama, focus, and start the picture).

Haha! I'm not sure how most of you react to this, i wasn't really planning to share it either. Just thought i'd fire up photoshop a bit since i enjoy doing that every once in a while. But I thought meh, it won't hurt.
This concept is far from done, for instance the battery icon, the text message menu and a few other things i'm personally still not satisfied with. I was even planning to design my own imagination of an app drawer. If i had the skill to implement this UI to a rom i'd probably spend a few days trying to hit the nail perfectly, but guess what? I have not the slightest clue of anything to do with a rom other then flashing.

Haha! The things over there are beautiful. As much as i like the things there, i find things like this need to be implemented into a rom to have the full feeling. When you click it, it just doesn't give the level of satisfactions without a proper animation. This, of course, is just my opinion.
I remember designing my own homescreen using the apps and what ever else methods they had over there, i loved the design itself but when clicking an icon it just fell so dull. It would open up regularly. If the icon would bounce off the screen or if the animations are tuned(implemented). I believe that would not only give a good design it would make it feel good too.
Very cool idea with that text thing :good:
