Yet some might say root or use diff launcher or..., I hope this might be considered in next ICS updates:
Launcher: ability to hide app icons in drawer if I want to.
Data usage: ability to prevent app from using wifi beside mobile data foreground & background if needed (firewall).
Gallery editor: frames effects.
Email (not Gmail): more refresh options such as every 2 hours & from time to time....

Only one atm : Reduce lag in scrolling on some occasions
1) Reboot option when holding the power on/off button
2) Easier way to mass text people
3) Ability mass select individual text messages (in each thread) and then delete them
4) Better stats on what is using the battery
5) When saving panoramic phots, do it quicker and don't delete the picture if the phone locks before the picture is saved
Increased video recording frame rate and enhanced stabilization, reboot option, faster unlock time from the lockscreen to the camera app, enhanced UI responsiveness, built in memo app and voice recorder app, photo editing app kinda like the one on the GS2 and battery saving tweaks

the gallery should be able to open jpg files that are in a .nomedia directory and go to previous or next pic like it where a normal picture...
this worked that way on old android version
since ICS if i open a picture in filemanager that is in a .nomedia directory, the galery does not known how to open it...
its ok that it is not shown in the gallery app by default, but if i open it from filemanager it should open ...
Mine would be sort the browser out :
Permanent desktop option ( like browser+ has)
Smoother scrolling
Rewrap text as an option
And i hate the way when tap in and then out it has rerender it , kida reminds me of checkers
Still think its the best browser iv used but fixing these is a must
I'd like to see a higher res and flash for the front camera.

*full manual camera setting ISO , shutter speed, manual focus.
*wakelock display in battery stats to show what apps are miss misbehaving so we can report them.
*fix the lag that came with 4.0.2
*fix the wifi drop outs.
*put the toggle wifi GPS ect in the drop down bar along with settings or make it customisable.
*customisable notifications like light flow app.
*fix the all alarm app, when you launch it just launch it straight to the set alarms not a date and time screen.
Everything else is sweet.

I'm running cyanogen nightlies on a US G2 and if I click share on a gallery image I can't scroll up to applications that are off the screen in either landscape or portrait mode? In order to share via sms I compose a text first and attach. Thoughts? I didn't have this issue on stock or miui?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
all i can figure is u must have a bunch of apps installed capable of the share option, because i just counted 11 on mine when i pressed share and they all fit with about 1/4" free room on top and bottom. that's the only thing i can think of at the moment.
You must have a **** ton of sharing options to have it block up in portrait. I have 12 right now and there's room for 1 more.
I do have this issue and its annoying in landscape mode, but I've never thought about it in portrait.
Yep. I guess thirteen is the max. Some I would never use nor see how I could. Ipcamviewer is an app to view traffic cams. Share a photo from gallery to it?
But, on stock and miui the trackpad allows you to scroll. Im gonna delete some apps.

Just wondering for those of you who have the device already, have you guys found some neat features/tricks using 4.0 that haven't been documented or heavily advertised?
I would love to make a list of these features for other users to explore...
Lets get this started
List:
Reserved........
I know it's documented, but it was still a surprise to me - you can now finally delete apps straight from the app drawer, by dragging them just as if you were going to place them on the desktop, but then putting them in the recycle bin on the top.
No affiliation with apple. Or siri.

Nobody's talking about the search app. It's way better than the one in Gingerbread. Much easier to find stuff in your phone : music, app, sms, docs, etc. The old one was returning web search suggestion in 90% of the result... useless.
Search in browser let's you edit suggestion if you want to add something to it. But we lost popular web site suggestion
Just read it on Pocketnow but you can make folders in the favourites bar. Apologies if obvious.
When in the stock browser and you change orientation, tap the screen to make it rotate.

1. In the setting app you will find " Dock " option which is new !
2. the rotation speed is very much better as far
3. camera seems to be better ! " better quality " and faster .
4. no animation lag in the system app! <-- i hated that lag on 4.0.2
5. Am not sure about the battery , I'll test it today ! ( and it depends on the user )
6. I noticed that when you record a full HD video it runs slow !!? is that normal , even the 720p is the same.. the soind is so clear but the video looks laggy ! <--- have you guys noticed that ?

By all users here :
7. You can no longer press the volume rocker and tap the icon to put it in vibrate.
8. Holding the power button brings up power off, airplane mode and a volume toggle consisting of silent, vibrate and sound on
9. Gtalk icon has changed.
10. On the Messaging app the unread message counter is now smaller and the colour changed to white, instead of being ics-blue.
11. The browser is incredibly faster on rendering.
12. Now is possible to access the bookmarks from the quick controls on the browser.

and Screenshot sound is LOUD! (I have media volume pretty low, normally; and ring volume at max. It now uses ring volume.) Very
annoying.
15. One bug is not fixed: with language set to “English (United Kingdom)”, the date is almost everywhere correctly shown as “3 April”, except in the notification bar, where
it (incorrectly) shows “April 3, 2012”.
16. video recording issues hd video is lagging a lot. inconsistent speed and also sound
17. phone is much, much slower to start charging through the POGO pins.
18. You can now hold the shutter button to focus and release to capture a photo. This was present in 4.0.1 but removed in 4.0.2 and now back again.
19. we can now take a photo while shooting a video in 1080p mode. just like the ONE X Claims to be able to do because of it's dedicated image chip . just tap on the screen while recording.
20. that the voice-to-type has changed .. now u can choose ur language or add more languages from the keyboard and no need to go to the setting app also Arabic voice
detection is present and working not as Google as the English one but still it is a good thing to have ..
21. The stock calendar widget now shows a colour square for each calendar entry, and the calender entries have been reduced in size to fit more entries on screen.
22. A whole stack of new ringtones, a few of them are pretty loud too.
If anyone noticed another things please mention it here

I too used to hit the volume rocker and then touch the icon of the phone to immediately mute. The benefit of this was that one touch of the volume up button again cancelled the mute and put the phone back to the original volume.
Yes you can touch the 0% point on the slider or slide it all the way to the bottom, but then "up" on the volume rocker only adds one notch to volume rather than restoring the original volume.
Seems an odd thing to remove from 4.0.2...
My observations:
Definitely feels a lot snappier.

So I figured out what causes the app drawer lag and FPS drops when entering & exiting
Most of you probably won't notice it, but when pressing the app drawer, the frames kinda of drop and you can see it stutter, regardless of what launcher you're using.
The thing that causes the lag is the button glow animation on the navigation bar. Try for yourselves. If you have AOKP just go to rom control->navigation bar->button glow animation and set it to off or super quick. Play around with it and jump back to the navigation bar settings and set it to normal to see the difference. You want it at off for best performance. Now there is no lag or FPS drops when entering and exiting the app drawer.

This is an already discovered fix for the UI lag. Seems ICS struggles when layers are drawn on the UI. A good example would be when a toast notification is displayed, try navigating around using the phone and it will lag until the notification closes.
Personally I just set the glow to off as even with super quick it can still lag.
Regards.

I just set the button glow animation to off. I actually prefer it set that way. So Win/Win!
For me, turning button glow animation off has no effect, even after a reboot. What I mean is, the glow animation is still there.
I've also noticed the lag/stutter when showing screen previews with the home button. However, I don't get any lag/stutter if I initiate screen previews with a gesture or other methods, only the home button.
Is this fix already included in any ROMs?
That's not a lag. Ever hear of animation? It takes a sec or 2 to complete. Is intended that way.

thank you adrynalyne, i was actually talking to myself, you just took all the fun and dispair away with not one, but 4 great pointers.
more seriously, i'm glad you took the time to awnser/search it. thanks.
If you are running CM9 or CM9 based ROM try enabling the 16bit transparency option and disable surface dithering. It makes absolutely no visible difference in quality but makes a huge difference in performance.
You know I've always wondered why there was this little Stutter/Lag whatever you wanna call it when I press the app drawer button.
I'am running AOKP and just took the glow off and while the animation will always be there, I no longer have that little stutter as it opens.
I was meaning to ask about this in some Rom threads, gingerbread app drawer always seemed so much faster opening. Since ICS is suppose to be better, I always thought, something wasn't right.
So much smoother. I'll take it.
I have noticed in ICS, when let's say you play a game, lets say Temple Run, you press on the volume keys and a pop up comes up, then the game shutters until the popup is gone, same thing when you have the keyboard up and you navigate the screen, it lags until the keyboard goes away.
Why is it like that in ICS?

Nah. Its some method which they wrote code that is not efficient prioritizing the toast message. Thinking about it, a toast message can originate from almost infinite sources as long as the app/process is running. So it may be too difficult to cleverly handle properly prioritizing toast pop ups in an efficient way. That's all I can think of.
I know when I wrote an app, it was very easy to put in any toast message I wanted anywhere. So who knows what the proper way is to handle them on a OS or kernel level.
I hope they remove this animation from stock android not only from our device but ice in general. It just looks poor and doesn't add any value.

Small changes that I've noticed so far:
1. the multitasking menu loads instantly when you press the button, but it makes you wait on the dimmed screen while it load the app screenshots. It gives the illusion of being faster.
2. "Hotword Detection" : launch voice search when you say "Google". It doesn't seem to work though.
3. New Developer options:
SD card privacy protection
Animator duration scale
Disable HW overlay
etc
4. Messaging app widget!
5. New Contacts icon
6. New share action pop out and app selector popout (big icons)
7. Default font seems to be a little thinner than ICS Roboto in some places.
8. Navigation is still Gingerbread looking. Background gradients are still pixelated. WTF Google?
9. NOTIFICATIONS CAN BE DISABLED. This one is a godsend. You can long press on notifications to get the info of the sender app (useful for detecting spam apps)
10. When keyboard is active, the back button turns into a downward arrow (just like tablet ICS).
11. WPS for Wifi
12. Browser has a chrome style card stack animation in tab view (was this in ICS?)
13. Wifi-direct has more options (like CM9)
14. "Add-on dictionaries" : it's empty now until 3rd party keyboards leverage the new API.
15. Kernel is based off 3.0.31 (ICS was 3.0.8)
16. Google play music has been updated (Nexus Q settings link, better interface, etc)
17. Keyboard shortcuts (example: brb expands to "be right back"). I'm not sure if this was present in ICS.
18. There is a nice animation in Camera when you tap the last picture thumbnail. The contact preview animation is MUCH improved (as shown in the keynote).

My bad. I was a little disapointed in the speed/smoothness, not because it's not smooth, but because Google made such a fuss about it that I thought it's going to be iOS smooth. I was hoping the factory images will be better, but I guess this is as good as it gets (which is still pretty good).
BTW Hotword detection works. You have to be inside Google Now and say "Google".

I think a lot of people would disagree with you. I had the iPhone 3G, 4, 4S (for 3 years) and iPad 2 (still do). The animations (opening apps, switching apps, opening app drawer, opening notifications, etc) are MUCH smoother on iOS. I'm not talking about general "speed". I'm talking about visuals of the animations and transitions.
Just the fact the google had to mention "Project butter" at the beginning of the keynote and emphasize it as the main change in JB shows the ICS wasn't there compared to iOS and WP7.
This JB build is a good improvement over ICS. I'd say if iOS was 100% smooth, GB was 30% and ICS was 70%, then JB would be around 85% smooth.
This is not the place to argue about this however
