Hello,
You should see this thread
@ OP:
You know that you can't put a custom kernel in the file?
For custom kernels you need an unlocked bootloader

Im not trying to put custom kernel,im trying to put .283 kernel,i read that it will reduce bterry drain.
NVM,i recently discovered that u can actually extract the ftf using 7zip so that it will appear as files before bundle creation.
However,my bttery drain still the same. The battery can only last 7hours something the longest. I even flash the 36 and 64 baseband and their libs but still dont change. I saw some people battery last for a day,i dont know why my battery still dont last

Hi guys, just wondering if anybody can provide me with stock kernels for .283 FW or .42 FW...preferably the 283 version. I'm having a hell of a time extracting from the original ftf. file. Thx in advance........need my battery life back!

Hi everyone, i just bought a Xperia Arc and its currently running Android 2.3.2
My questions are:
1 - Which is the latest version update for Xperia Arc ?
2 - I tried to look for an update using the "Sony Ericson PC Companion" but it says that there is no avaible update. Why is it happening?
3 - The fact that my carrier is "VIVO" (From Brasil) means i can´t update my Phone?
4 - Is there any "Safe" (I know every way may brick your phone,i´ve flashed tons of custom roms on galaxy phones) way to update it to the latest version (or at least to 2.3.3 where i´ve seen some cool features) without breaking my 3G connection with my carrier ?
5 - I Know ICS is going to be released for our phones, but, will the update be Global or Carrier-by-Carrier like ?
Thanks in advance for any help/answers.
I will stay tuned here !
Flash with flash tool.
Debrand it with generic 2.3.4

Can i flash a "Global" Rom that works in every country, with every carrier ?
That would solve my issue,if theres any 2.3.4 (Which i found to be the latest version) rom (STOCK ROM,not CUSTOM) that i can flash safely.
Waiting for answers.
Where are you developers ?
Read the stickys.
Search for flashtool and read how to use it.
Then search for 2.3.4 generic world and flash it with tool above.

Last one,do you mind linking me a "how to" guide so i can follow it?
I´ve found this on on Youtube, but im not sure if its the same step-by-step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmmThXTWu74
Also,Flashing this global rom, will prevent some apps from SE like TrackID to work or whatever ?
I´ve read it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650
Look in general and devs section, there are tutorials.
Im on phone so i cant copy/paste link to it.
Someone will give you link,or ask flo95 for it.

Hello XDA, sorry if this has been asked before but searching around for a solution is giving me a headache because of all of the technical jargon and not knowing what to do.
I upgraded my Arc S to ICS, made my kernel that of DooMLords and then installed Arconium ICS. I'm just having a lot of issues with it, such as my music skipping, games freezing and my phone crashing up to two or three times a day which is just appauling.
I'd rather just go back to Gingerbread and have my phone function well rather than enjoying the new ICS features and layout.
Could someone please tell me, or link me to a guide, that gives simple step by step instructions on how to get back to just a completely stock 2.3 Arc S?
Download .42/.58/.64 ftf file.
Flash it using flashtool..

So I don't need to worry about my kernel, even though it's an ICS kernel?
Hi,
I have looked around the forum and read a few threads about downgrading. I just need to make sure that my understandings are correct before I decide to flash it.
1- download flashtool, 6.x version because the 8.x version only works on ICS.
2- download ftf for gingerbread, im trying to downgrade to .42 for root, would there be any complications regarding the 0% battery issue?
Do note that im on stock ics with root now, what risks do I have with flashing now?
Also, if I bring the phone to a Sony store, would they be able to flash the .42 version? Or would they just flash the latest gingerbread version ?
Thank you for the advice
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk 2
Hy ! Your method is correct ! .42 not cause 0% (tested me too)
Downgarde from ics with root not have any risk! Pc companion use it to(like flashtool)
In the sony store very likely that they will give you ICS or the latest GB (not .42) .
I have done this many times and no harm(From rooted ICS to .42)
If j help you please hit thanx !!!
Any link for the ftf file? I downloaded one last night but since it wasnt from xda, I have reserves about it.
Edit: also, do I have to enable anything on flash tool? I read about no final verification check or something. What needs to be checked off on flash tool?
Also, after I flash gb, can I do a pc companionship repair ?

According to GSM Arena, Xperia S and SL seems to be the same. They got the same chipset, same GPU and pretty much the same hardware. Only a few minor things seems to differ.
But I find nothing about Xperia N (Misspelling? Typo?)
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_sl-4894.php
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_s-4369.php
But I cannot promise it would work. On a logical level, these devices can differ. Even to a grade where a kernel might not be able to fully initiate. (With a kernel panic as a result)
Addresses, busses, partitioning scheme , flash ICs, and other stuff can differ. It could be a completely different board, even if the same chipset, GPU and other hardware is the same.
The only real way to be sure would be to compare these two devices side by side on the inside.
Is it worth the hassle?
One could try to flash a S ROM on the SL device, or the other way around, but make sure you can recover from a paniced kernel first.
One way to recover from a such state would be opening the device, and hardwire JTAG connections, if there are any.
I don't have too much experience recovering from seemingly bricked devices. different devices behave differently. Some have a simple preboot mode which one can use the USB connection to transfer firmwares over. Even when a kernel is malfunctioning completely. Others just become hard bricked, requiring using JTAG connections or similar hard wiring to recover.
Ok then cn u suggest a good ROM fr xperia SL alone? I mean if u cn tell it would b helpful. I tried to find one but couldn't. If not then ill hv to try doing what u said.

You went too complicated Mate. Xperia S and Xperia SL are exacty same, bar some software changes. No need to perform jtag and all to restore, You just need to flash back the stock firmware.

Yes I'm absoulutely sure. I own a Xperia SL and have been used all of the Xperia S ROM's on it. Mokee is good, just use a stable build, not a nightly/release one. You can Google for it. But for installing a Mokee ROM, You need to unlock Your bootloader since You require a custom kernel.
Sorry I m kinda new to routing tell me about custom kernel ?? I have already rooted my device by using flashtool.

First copy the ROM.zip and gapps for that ROM to phone.
Then on PC, extract the boot.img from ROM.zip.
Connect Your phone to PC powered on. Using fastboot, flash the boot.img to Your phone with following commands:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
You will find fastboot.exe in "C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib"or where ever You installed the flashtool.
Then Your phone will have a twrp installed. Just boot into twrp, and flash the ROM!
Don't forget to wipe 'data','cache','dalvik cache', 'system' before You flash the ROM.
Then after flashing ROM, just wipe 'cache' and 'dalvik cache' and flash the gapps.
Important: This will delete all Your apps. But Your videos, images, music will be safe as it is stored in 'sdcard'.
DON'T WIPE 'sdcard' AT ALL.
i Downloaded the zip file of mokee ROM but couldnt find gapps file . Is it possible that its inbuilt ?

1.7 is not minimum, it is the maximum frequency Our processor can handle. And taking it to 1.9 would kill the battery and phone or render it highly unstable. You won't feel a lag at 1.5 ghz at all, trust Me. Been using at 1.5ghz, the phone doesn't feel slow at all and definitley faster than stock ROM's..
