For some reason, I can receive but not send a text message. I've tried with several roms and the problem persists. Can anyone help? Thanks
Edit: never mind, I restored an old nandroid and it worked.. Wierd though, couldn't get it to work with 2 different roms?!?

Ok i have searched and searched and searched some more and can not find an answer. Hopefully i am placing this in the correct place.
I am currently running Synergy. I am having issues with receiving and sending pictures via messaging app (stock and I've also tried Handcent). I guess I can't even say its an issue, it just does not flat out work. I can not send or receive pictures.
When I receive a picture message, it comes through with a click able download button. Click it, and nothing happens for a few minutes. Them shortly after, I receive a notification stating, "Message not downloaded, Generic network failure"
Pretty much same goes for when trying to send one. It attaches fine and compresses for MMS but then I get pretty much the same notification a few minutes later, "Unable to send message after multiple attempts, Generic network failure."
I have attempted numerous ways of fixing this to no avail. I tried turning off WiFi, that didn't work. Re-flashed Rom, no go. I was thinking perhaps I need to update radios, pri,prl ect? I am trying to avoid a hard reset as i don't want to lose root. Any ideas on a fix?
I recently had this problem too. I found the fix here on the forum. If you have titanium back up you need to start it up. Click backup/restore then scroll down to [SMS/MMS PREFS] Messages 1.00. Click on that and then click wipe data. You will lose all your messages so back them up if you need them. Reboot your phone afterwards. This is what I did and it fixed this problem.

Thanks for the reply. That sure sounds like it would do the trick. I tried and it didn't work when I scroll down to mms preference in TB mine is 3.xxx (something) not 1.0 like you had said. Not sure what that's all about. I went ahead and cleared data anyway and rebooted. When I opened TB after restarting it still said I had 1 backup. So I'm thinking for some reason it didn't wipe it. Getting so frustrated.

TB seems to bring issues when restoring text messages from older versions of texting apps. The new stock version has a backup feature within...give it a shot and good luck!
Sorry it didn't work.

I tried the same thing and it didn't work at first. When following the post I didn't see any SMS/MMS/APN dialer that the post mentioned. I didn't see it because TB said the apps were ordered by name, but the sms/mms pref and apn dialer don't follow that rule.
Carefully look through and find both of them, then wipe the data and follow the rest of the #4 in the post.
I hope that helps!
When turning the phone off and then on, the camera flashes a light several times and it automatically sends previous text messages sent by me to other people again. Why is this hapenning? Can someone please post a solution?? Thanks!
this is actually a known issue
it seems to be a system bug
you can try flashing another ROM, or simply wiping the stock ROM and start from scratch
[Q] issues with SMS resending itself after reboot
I have been having a strange issue recently.
When I reboot my phone, the text messages that I have recently sent are being resent to my contacts, sometimes the messages are resent multiple times. It happens sporadically.
Anyone else have this issue?

I've never experienced this issue. Are you using a 3rd party SMS app? What rom is this issue happening on?

Are you using handcent? This specific issue is why I quit using handcent. If not, then I dunno, that's weird.

switch and use Go SMS
problem solved
hey! thanks for the reply. I tried flashing some different roms but the issue still persists. even though its not every time i restart my phone, it still happens randomly and its very annoying since people always reply back saying why are u sending me old text messages? So what do you suggest i do? I am currently on TricH's rom. how can i completely wipe the stock rom and start from scratch? please let me know! thanks.
which SMS app are you using?
the stock one that comes with TricH's rom
hmm... probably you might be better off using another ROM or a stock ROM just to see if there's any difference?
i have already tried other roms such as the beast rom but the issue still persist. even when i was on the stock rom, the issue was still there. Do you think there is a way to remove the stock sms app completely from the phone and then maybe i can download a 3rd party app?
i have been having the exact same issue. it started while i was on the stock telus rom, i then switched to the best rom and the issue was still occuring. I am now on the bombardier rom and the issue was gone for a couple of days and now when i restarted the phone, the issue occured again. so i dont know what is causing this problem. if someone knows a fix to this issue please help!
you can use TI to freeze it
Link2SD also has the Frezing option
This was happening to me. I narrowed my problem down to media scan looping, especially if you're getting it on a nandroid restore.
merged both topics, just noticed you 2 and a few other people you also have the exact bug
Had a thought... do you have any texts stored on your sim card?
nope nothing stored on my sim card.
ok so i think I may have found the solution to the issue:
i installed titanium backup pro then used it to backup and freeze the stock messaging app. I then rebooted the phone so the messaging icon disappeared from the phone. I then installed go sms pro from the market and using it as my default sms app. Tried rebooting phone after that and it has not been resending text messages so far.
*fingers crossed* hope this solves the issue for good! will update if issue persists.
I am rooted and have tried several different roms and all keep doing the same thing. I miss a bunch of text. Sometimes I will get them a few hours or a few days later or sometimes never at all, i did try a search and found nothing any help would be great.

Try ghostly sms in the market it should recover your missing texts.

should it just get the ones from now on or the old ones as well? I installed it but it says zero messages recovered.

Should get them from now on. When your phone misses a text message ghostly sms app will tell you if you recovered any missing texts and ask if you want to move it to your inbox

I am getting errors with my sms texts on my phone. I am able to receive them just fine, however I can not send them. I am running Blazer Rom v4.1 with Rogue Hitman 1.5 kernel. I have already tried fixing permissions as well as updating the PRL and profile. None of that helped. Any help is appreciated. P.S. Everything else on my phone is working just fine including making and receiving phone calls.
Is it text msgs or pic and vid msgs you're having trouble with? Try going to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases and delete telephony.db. Reset your phone and let me know if that works.
It is the texts themselves I cannot send, although I haven't tried pic or video. I just deleted telephony.db. Lets hope this works =].
Nothing has changed since I deleted the file. I still get the same error message saying that my text is still sending, but it never goes through.
You may consider reflashing.

I was thinking of that, but I dont feel like setting everything up a
gain lol.
Then do a nandroid backup. After you flash, get appextractor from the market. I bought the key for it too. It will recover all you apps and the data. Its well worth the couple bucks.

I fixed the problem. I ended up reinstalling the rom and now it works fine. Thank you for helping.

Thanks MeWarning. I had been searching around for a solution for my phone and came across your post. There aren't a lot of things out there that mention failed texts. My stock Epic Touch would not send any text messages while roaming. I spent an hour on the phone with Sprint, the level 2 tech guy told me to put the phone in Sprint only mode, no help there. I did a factory reset, didn't fix it. So, I rooted the phone and tried deleting the telephony file and all is working now. My boss was having the same issue and that solution fixed his as well.
I was wondering if anybody else has seen this issue. When I rooted my phone and installed my first custom ROM, I installed ChompSMS as I had purchased it some time ago. But when I tried to send a text using it, it would not send but would receive. I had to use the stock messaging app to send messages.I finally had to just remove it. I installed Handcent SMS instead and it worked fine. I newer version of the ROM can out and I decided to do a clean install. After doing this, Handcent SMS would no longer send messages but would receive. I had to use the stock messaging app again to send messages. I removed Handcent and thought I would try ChompSMS again and sure enough it works now. Is this particular ATT or the note 2 or something else entirely?

have you tried just unistalling either app then reinstalling it. when you say you are updating/changing roms are you restoring from an app or just downloading everything over again?
it maybe the way you are restoring the app its self. or maybe even just clearing cache and data from the chomp or handcent and reboot to see if that clears it up. i dont think this issue is tied to the phone.
I was installing the app from the play store.. I have tried removing and installing again, and I even tried restoring a backup from TB from a date when it worked. I restored without data and then with and that didn't help either.
and this was even happening on your stock Rom?
or not until you went to a custom rom?
Never tried it on the stock rom. The stock rom was only on it long enough to get from the ATT store to the house. I rooted it and customized it right away. I seem to recall this same issue happening on my original note a couple of times. I will try to get some more info to post here.
