I have at problem with the navigation i google maps on my galaxy Nexus.
it simply crashes when every time i try to use it any one got a similar problem?
How can i fix it?
Not sure how you can fix it, but I don't have that problem.
I was using Google Maps couple of times and got no crash problem.
Do you have that issue with other GPS apps? Like other navigation apps? Try that.
Clear Cache and data of Google Maps and try again.
Are you on a custom ROM?
I am not on any costum ROM yet, and I am on version 4.0.1.
i have tried to clear both data an cache but it did not fix the problem
I have the same problem - stock ROM. It crashes on 4.0.1 and 4.0.2. Also tried to clear cache and uninstall updates. Nothing works
You could try downloading a GApps zip, search on here, then extract the navigation.apk and install manually? Turn off unknown sources, dump the apk onto the phone and launch it manually. Might work. Can't think of anything else. Good luck.
If i go into Navigation, then it crashes...the only way i was able to get navigation to work, is to search the address in google maps, then select navigate within the google maps app.
im not sure if you did this or not, but when you have hotplug enabled Navigation will force your phone to reboot when the screen is off. so if you have done anything with the cpu, that might cause the FC. (Undervolt, overclock, and hotplug(when screen is on) have no affect on navigation. Android 4.0.3)

I am running CM 7.1.0 RC1 plus gapps-20110613, and it has been running fine. But now, out of the blue, Google Maps, Navigation and Car Home has disappeared. I swear I didn't uninstall them myself.
Also, when I try to install Google Maps from Market, the download icon appears briefly in the notification bar, and then disappears and the download stops without explanation.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I guess clearing and resetting everything and reinstalling the ROM and gapps will fix it, but then I have to do all the tedious setup work again.
Dont open threads everywhere..u already ask this in the desire general section
Try the usual things..reboot..try install again..try clear market data..reboot..retry..sometimes the market seems have this kinds of problem (even if rarely)..also ensure to have enough space on data
Something similar happened to me, I couldn't not install with wifi becasue my sim had been blocked
If you're having issues with GPS not locking after upgrading to CM10.1 from CM10 goto Manage Apps -> Google Services Framework and then Clear Data. Then reboot and everything should be fine! I don't know if this needs to be done going from Touchwiz -> CM10.1, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.

Looks like i dont have it in there... google play store + google account manager + gooogle backup... + google one time init + google partner setup + google search + google play services + google synch..
That´s weird
not fixed for me
I hate to resurrect a "fixed" topic (don't know if that's better or worse than starting a new one for the same issue...)... but this didn't work for me.
I found google services framework and cleared the data, then rebooted. My phone sees several GPS satellites, but refuses to connect to any of them.
I was on the official 10.1 release, then updated to the recent 10.1.2 security update, then installed the latest nightly... No changes between any release; I haven't had a solid GPS lock since I switched to CM 10.1 stable nightlies.
Is there really no other fix, or no other person who is still having trouble after these instructions? This is literally the only solution I can find on all of the internets.
Thanks!
Has anyone else had this pop up continually . "unfortunately, calendar storage has stopped."
I just installed the milestone 2. please help, it is driving me nuts!
Wrong section sorry,...... How do I delete
GPS ON - no sattelite
Hallo,
at first :
CM 10.1 by owl project looks very good. Respect
But
I have Wildfire s and everything works properly besides GPS. I have any signal and GPS status app from Google play is finding satellites for a long time and result is any satellite.
My device spec.:
CWM 5.2.0.8, Hboot 1.09.0099, Radio : 7.57.39.10M
CM 10.1 on Android 4.2.2 with expand RAM to 2GB (INT2EXT) + overclocking (245-787Mhz)
Where is problem - maybe radio have to be downgraded or updated. It is possible? Does anyone have the same problem?
Than you for your help and advice?
Solution
Hallo, i found solution and i tried it and result : Bravo - GPS is function
You have to try it too:
1>Backup your ROM (if you want - i backup my app using Titanium backup), then flash a ROM where GPS did work, activate GPS and start any GPS app (like Google maps). I used GPS status and Fix GPS from Google Play
2>Let it get a fix on your position and wait for a few minutes. (in my case twenty minutes) Then restore your ROM...did the trick for me. Of course don't forget wipe and factory reset in-between. In my case i flash new ROM without restoring.
Important : When you will get signal and GPS will show you position immediately power-off your device !!!
Bye
Google Maps/Navigation will force-close on me within a few minutes every time a navigation route is plotted. Sometimes after it FCs the navigation icon will remain in the status bar and will even re-connect on occasion, however usually it just kills the process. This has been a recurring issue for me throughout the last few ROMs I've been trying (both TW and non-TW). I should also mention that when Maps/Navigation is launched I always get a prompt for missing Voice Guidance, saying, "...you need to install text-to-speech support from Android Market" which takes me to the SpeechSynthesis Data Installer application. After installing it, the prompts disappear but Maps/Navigation still crashes within one minute of GPSing. Also, I have verified that the Pico TTS text-to-speech output is selected as the preferred engine (before installing SpeechSynthesis Data Installer, so not sure why that prompt is coming up every time on both TW and CM).
Here are the steps I have taken so far without success:
ATTEMPT 1
Wiped Dalvik/System/Data/Cache from within TWRP
Formatted Data from within TWRP
Flashed Slim 7, cleared cache/Dalvik
Flashed Slim Gapps, cleared cache/Dalvik
Reboot, let phone sit, reboot
Installed Maps (crashed within 1 minute)
ATTEMPT 2 ([*gps fix] alternate gps fix])
Ran [root] Triangle Away - reset flash counter to 0
Odin back to stock TW
Samsung service mode *#197328640#
Mainmenu>UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD>NV REBUILD
Waited 30 seconds, rebooted
Installed Maps (crashed within 1 minute)
ATTEMPT 3
Wiped Dalvik/System/Data/Cache from within TWRP
Formatted Data from within TWRP
Ran XquiziT_SuperWipe_SGH_T999 from TWRP
Rebooted back to TWRP
Wiped Dalvik/System/Data/Cache from within TWRP
Rebooted back to TWRP
Flashed LiquidSmooth v2.8, cleared cache/Dalvik
Flashed official Gapps, cleared cache/Dalvik
Reboot
Install Maps
Settings>App Info>Maps>Clear data and Clear cache
Maps crashed within 1 minute
ATTEMPT 4
Wiped Dalvik/System/Data/Cache from within TWRP
Formatted Data from within TWRP
Flashed Slim 7, cleared cache/Dalvik
Flashed Slim Gapps, cleared cache/Dalvik
Reboot
Install Maps
Settings>App Info>Maps>Clear data and Clear cache
Reboot to TWRP, fixed permissions
Reboot --> maps crashed within 1 minute
Additional assistance will be very much appreciated! Thanks so much, I rely on Maps quite a bit and this issue is annoying ><
Sounds like you may be running out of memory? Try clearing in ram manager before opening maps.
In development options, check show cpu usage to watch for anything that happens everytime before it crashes. Also try the limit background processes options and see if it helps.
These are tw options, not sure if there are equivalents in cm

According to cpu usage I should be fine, especially since trying Maps/Nav from a fresh TW/CM install shouldn't rock my RAM too hard >< Thanks though!
Update: I tried using a different navigation app (MapQuest Mobile) and it runs perfectly fine. This issue is tied directly to Google Maps and Navigation, perhaps involving the text-to-speech output. I attached my logcat for review. Thanks :highfive:
FINAL UPDATE: Google updated their Maps app and now everything runs perfectly fine. Problem solved

I spoke too soon myself~ After running with it for a few days I can definitely report my issue persists as well. Still no solution in sight ><
EDIT: I ran across a solution that seems to work. Within Navigation, click the compass in the upper-right of the screen. This will keep the screen directions static, meaning north stays north, etc. This solved my issue after testing for 40+ minutes!

I found that static North mode helps, but it is still very unstable. I'm now having lots of other problems with my device. I would LOVE to know of a ROM and kernel combo that works with Google Maps. CM10 got so bad that I switched to SlimBean. I just need my device to be sufferable until I buy a Nexus 5 and NEVER buy another non-nexus device again. This is my 3rd Galaxy device and I have ended up in this state with everyone of them. (That's completely unsupported and unstable.)
I have been very thankful for CM7.2 and my rooted Droid Incredible. Its been a great phone for me and saved me tons of money by staying a great device to use. However I recently ran into some issues that made me think I needed to do a factory reset, wipe, and reinstall CM 7.2 and google apps.
So I downloaded the CM 7.2 for droid Inc and the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip file. I did a factory reset from within the phone privacy settings and rebooted into recovery using Rom Manager. I then wipe the data and cache and installed CM 7.2 and then the google apps. After a restart though, the google apps had not installed and I got multiple force closes. In addition, all the google accounts were still saved which I didn't expect since I had done a factory reset and wiped all the data. Even the Wifi passwords were still saved because I didn't have to enter any to access wifi. Some apps were still installed as well like Contacts +. So it seems like something didn't go right with the install.
If I installed gmail, google voice, etc from Google Play store on my phone, then I would get a Package Installer error and it would force close causing the app to not install. I could install apps to my phone using the Google Play store website on a computer. When I restarted my phone though all the newly installed apps would be gone and I would have to install them again. I made sure I was installing them to the phone and not the SD Card as well.
Other things aren't working right either. For instance the adw.launcher home button doesn't take me back to the default home screen. Pushing the button I get haptic feedback but no action for it. No setting for it under "settings" caused any change.
I did clear data on the google play store thinking that would help with the install of the apps but that didn't help either. I still get force close issues.
I am at a loss at this point and not sure what to do next.

I had same issue... But its a easy fix...boot to cwm reset wipe system and boot and cache and data and dalvik..Reinstall rom and gapps... after 1st boot wait a min or two.. open terminal type...su...then enter to get superuser then type..fix_permissions..then enter...this command will fix permissions...after thats done..type reboot...phone will reboot...you should be good to go...this only works with cm7-cm9..its done auto in cm10+ at boot..
My fiancee has a fire phone, and she's had it for a few years. For the most of it, she's been using CM11 as her custom ROM. A few weeks ago, she mysteriously got it, and it wouldn't go away except when she disabled contact storage, but then she couldn't make phone calls. She then removed the dialer and it caused even more problems. I had to fully wipe her phone and re-flash back to Fire OS to get her dialer back. I then put CM11 back in, and everything was fine for awhile. Four days later, when Facebook updated, it did it again. We deleted Facebook, deleted the cache from contact storage, all that crap shown on Youtube, and still nothing. She opens up Chrome, it would pop up "process.acore has stopped", same with PlayStore. I wiped her phone again, then flashed her phone over to SlimKat, wiped dalvik cache, system, data, etc. It worked fine for a few days, then she opened up Cortana, and it's doing it again.
What apps have you disabled or uninstalled and/or installed since last wipe? Did you set it as a new phone after tou reinstalled cm11 or slimkat?
Try safeboot by clicking power button, then click reboot. Hold both volume up and down button while it fully reboots. You will see safeboot logo on screen. See if you get same error in safeboot. If not, then a change you are doing after fresh install is messing up your phone. Do a fresh install, then restore/install/uninstall one app at a time to see which app is responsible.
Every time I factory reset the phone, it's fine for awhile until some random app causes it again. The cause is different every time. At first, Facebook was the cause, then adding another Gmail account, then Reddit. We'll try your advice then get back to you.
If it is fine for a while, it is probably being triggered by some system app such as Google play services updating itself. I would suggest disable auto updates in play store and disable Amazon store if you haven't already. When phone prompts you that app updates are available, update one app at a time, (if have titanium backup and rooted, can backup the app before you update it). Once you find the culprit, open it in play store and disable auto update by un-checking the option by clicking three dots on top right. I had to do that for google play services because it was causing similar issues. Your issue may be related to contacts as well as calendar (clear calendar data but do not disable default calendar app from amazon)or one of the related background processes that is automatically updated but the updated version becomes incompatible with kit Kat causing all apps that depend on it to force close.
Check if your Google play services is newer than 10.0.84 version at the time acore error starts happening. If it is newer version then go to apk mirror website and download 10.0.84 version, uninstall the newer one and install this older one. Please do update if anything you did fixed the problem. Thanks.
