3G/4G Speed Optimizer - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

This thing really works!!! Before tweaks I was barely getting 128 kbs on Simple Mobile $40 Unlimited plan. NOW I'M GETTING OVER 2000 KBS!!!! AND ITS FREE!!!!!!!!!!

well this sucks. post a thread to boost this and no helpful info
will keep checking back for an update since im on the $40 unlimited and would like better speeds!

I think he may possibly be talking about this. But come on guy, you can't just make a post like that without linking to anything and leave us all hanging . Anyway, does anyone feel like trying it out? I'm kinda bored so I might have a look at it

It's a cold and miserable day today here in Melbourne, so this gave me a chance to do something useful
Okay so before I installed the app I did a few speed tests to use as a reference, here are the screen shots. Speeds fluctuated and weren't that great, to keep everything fair I plugged my phone in and left it in the same spot during all tests.
I did 4 tests before any tweaking, here are the screen shots.

After the 4 tests, I changed the app settings to max speed and download speed priority and restarted my phone. Speedtest kept saying network error, and I noticed that facebook wouldn't load and IMDB.org took a long time to load, the first succesful speed test was nothing special, it was pretty bad actually.
The second test was even worse
But I was determined to get good speeds, I really wanted it to work, so I changed it to fast instead of max speed, and tried again. I couldn't run a speed test, it kept saying "network communication issues", after trying 6 or 7 times I gave up, then I tried one more time and here is the result
As you can see, the speeds are crap. So I restored all the settings of this app back to default, restarted, the uninstalled the app.
Not the best speeds I know, but better then when I was using those tweaks. So if you're sick of having semi decent 3G speeds, and you want slow speeds and high pings, I highly recommend this app All kidding aside, I personally didn't have much luck with it today, the app has plenty of 5 star reviews on the market from people saying it worked for them. Someone else should give it a go and report back.

Ive tried this app also and it dint work for me... but where i live i get 7mb down and about 1.5 up.

You should try using the 3g speed thing under v6 supercharger post in general app development (don't have link atm, on phone) and do some speed tests. Don't automatically assume highest is best, they're different for each network, give em a shot and see if it works some magic! For me I got 2x speed :S but I'm on ICS now and I don't think its compatible
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

I guess it depends on carrier and coverage in your area, The 3G/4G optimizer increased my upload speeds in a noticeably MAJOR WAY! Loading this page took 10 seconds flat! (I timed it)
Before this tweak it took about 45 to load anything on xda from my G2

I can't understand how to use this app...when I click on "Apply Tweak" it says "changes will be made after reboot" but after rebooting its just as before...please help me regarding this...

Is there any requirements, for example root or carrier compatibility??

4G: 1Mbps Upload cap?

4g is starting to roll out here(slc,ut), highest speeds I'm getting right now are 2.73mb Down and 0.99 mb UP, seems like those caps sprint was talking about are in effect, anyway to break them like you wizards did with the 30fps cap issue or is it because 4g is not officially released here yet?

What caps are you talking about? Look at one of the 4g speed threads, many have had much better results that your test above.

well i hope your right cause it looks like im capped at 1mbps right now, hopefully it improves when they officially roll out 4g in couple days

Hmmm, I've had better results before, but I don't get a 4g signal in my house. I'll test again when I'm out and about.
I get nearly 3 mbps unload and 8 down in atlanta

Sprint has openly stated they are capping 4g at 1mbps upload for now. The official cap is 10/1 though they may raise it at a later date.
My home cable internet is capped at 10/1
And my evo on wifi uses every drop of it, which is cool to see
You won't need more than 512 kbit/s anyways unless you are trying to torrent. The latency is too crap to play/host any online games anyways.

1 mbps Upload, Not bad at all
I work for a medium size ISP our fastest internet tier is 10.1mbps down with 1.0mbps up. So for 1mbps up on a mobile phone that is really good. I understand Comcast has 50x10 packages which is insane and awesome, but 1mbps on upload is really good, should be plenty fast
Wow im in Houston and NEVER got more than 3Mbps down and ofcourse only 1 up.

I am in Houston and I get an average of 8Mbps with spiked of 9.8Mbps down on my Evo over WiMax. Depending on my area, but they are still rolling it out it will get better

I have the 50/10 but Comcast is rolling out 105/15 within the next month or so here.
1Mbps upload is nothing... I've had 2 for ages.
Getting 0% on a multiple choice test is as hard as getting 100%. Consecutive perfect 1.00Mbps uploads are just that, a solid proof of throttling =P
That is TERRIBLE speed...

Anybody receive the Gb OTA yet?

From what I understand some people are starting to receive the Gb ota. Just wondering if anyone here is able to get it via checking for new software.

I found this on a quick google search http://gadgetian.com/20137/htc-droid-incredible-2-gingerbread-ota-update/
I'm not running that version, but a signed and verified one from someplace much more trustworthy IMO. I cannot give a link to mine, but everything about the .4. version is refined from the .3. and the phone works flawlessly now !
good luck and godspeed boys!
i'm sure once the ota is pushed more you WILL see it posted around so keep updating those browsers

I just did a force check and am downloading it now. I am in Southern California.
Just force checked and got it! Tampa
It's also available for me in NY, but I declined... Don't want to loose root!!
Finally just checked my gfs phone and its downloading now. In in MA.

Downloading now
Lakeland FL. Close to Tampa.
I have it, dc area
Carelessly swyped on my phone so there may be some weird typos
Available for me. 50 miles south of DC.
got it in monterey, ca... seems good to go so far...no htc hub tho, i thought sense 2.1 was supposed to have that included...not sure what to do with the new dock option...looks pretty tho
Just checked and it is available in south eastern Pennsylvania. It is taking a while to download over 3G so I will probably try connecting to the university's WiFi to speed things up.
Force check in DC worked like a charm.

Does this count towards the new tiered bandwidth amounts? I was lucky enough to be.grandfathered with the unlimited so it does not effect me personally, so just wondering if ota updates are an exclusion.
I got it and ignored it. Near Albuquerque, NM
Murder-apolis Minnie-snow-ta just got the email from HTC notifying me its available. Waiting to hear more about how its working out for people. Still not decided about root either. Liking having options right now.
Not sure if it just me but the internet browser feels a lot snappier and responsive especially when typing in forums and also switching between tabs/windows. Selecting text to cut and copy also feels a lot nicer and more accurate moving around the selector icons. Switching from tasks also significantly smoother.
Seems that in terms of "bloatware" the only thing new that was added was Google books which is not so bad, at least it is some game or service that requires a subscription like blockbuster.
Also, while the other preinstalled stuff still can not be uninstalled the.option to move the applications to the SD card was added to all of them, which I guess is a step in the.right.direction, but personally them taking up space was the least of my worries with generous big SD card that came with the phone.
But the improved default internet browser had to be my favorite change so far, since I prefer it over the third party ones and probably is one of the top uses I get out of my phone.

Very slow speeds

Can anyone help me figure out why my download and mainly upload speeds are so slow? I'm approximately 1/4 mile from the tower and it is line of sight without any obstructions. Radios are the leaked 4.0.4 radios and speeds were basically the exact same with 4.0.2 radios. Nothing else was running and the server is about 30 miles from here. Also, I had full bars for 3g and two bars for 4G when I tested.
Top four results are 4G and second four are 3G.

I am guessing only a Verizon tech who can look at the tower can help you there. Anything else will just be a guess.
Mine is pretty bad too around the same as yours during peak hours...I think its due to over saturation at work...in the morning I get around 600 kbps...

Oops forgot this one
here is mine.
Oversaturation? VZW has so many data hungry grandfathered customers on LTE - that plus their aggressive marketing = lots of people using once-50MBps LTE now slowing it to HSDPA+ speeds?
We must work at the same place then. I don't really notice a slow down after most people leave but I'll run a speed test tomorrow evening to see if there is a difference. Btw today around 1030 I got around 30 down and 30 up, kbps.
Here is a screenshot from then.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Still crappy speeds even with less than 3/4 of the work force here today. So I'm thinking its something other than way too many people hitting the same tower.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Network saturation is a *****. Head over to the throttle thread and listen to all the people there tell you how all the heavy data users have no impact on you. The good thing is at least Verizon is proactive about their network and will likely add capacity soon. I'd certainly consider complaining a bit to them though so they know its a problem.

Incredibly slow 3G data; is Sprint throttling me?

So, for the majority of last month I recall having absolute **** speeds on 3G ranging from 20 to 70 Kbps occasionally reaching to something like 120Kbps. This is in my normal coverage area where I can often get from 1100 to 1800 Kbps. I had thought that I might be getting throttled since I used a total of like 14GB of 3G last month. The new billing cycle started today and I'm still getting the same horrid speeds. What gives? I've already reflashed my ROM and modem without any benefit. Anyone else know what could be going on?
Sent from my Phone with An App
Sprint is the problem. LOL I'm not sure have you tried contacting Sprint? I'm jelly that you can even achieve 1200kbps.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Hahahahahahaha I remember those days. Man that's how bad sprints service is. That's why I left them and went with Verizon.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Seriously? Who would stay with a carrier that would take 5 minutes just to load a picture? I'll be sure to call them later. For some reason that never crossed my mind.
Sent from my Phone with An App
I tried Sprint briefly years ago, sounds like they haven't improved much since then.
if not for the LTE in my area (san antonio) sprint would be unusable.
It sounds like 1X data speeds and not 3G, some of the stock roms display a 3G icon even when connected to 1X data. If you use the speedtest app
it will show a graph of the results, if the speed graph looks like it hits a ceiling around 100k,.it is probably connected to 1X data.
If you see multiple spikes in the graph well above 100k, it is probably a crappy connection/signal.
Same here. I'm on Virgin Mobile, but it's apart of Sprint too. It's been crappy for the past week.
Sent from my HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
I'm on Sprint. Get about 500 to 1000kbits on 3G in my area. I understand they're not great in all areas, but the price is good.

So. Uh. If that isn't the best speed test you've ever seen? I think Jellybro has the 1x indicator fix and the normal upload speeds seem to indicate I'm on 3G. Sprint dude just said to take it to a store. I guess I'll do that. Unless going back to complete stock might fox something. I'll try that next.

it dosent sprint only rates it at 6 megs or something stupid. maybe at the end of the nv roll out it might improve
or not because you took thoes speed test with decent db and probally little to no tower load on the lte core
you do realize this should be part of the sticky on top

Sprint came out as fastest lte in recent tests. I would say partly due to low loads. It's 6-8 average and 25 peak. I'd say just fine enough speeds for a cell phone.

speed test made and skewed by sprint?
do you know what the others are rated at?... there a reason why sprint rates that low cuz their user load will be crazy and slow to a crawl like the last couple years.
also they have inferior spectrum holdings /backhaul ( there using microwave in some places) and from my personal experience they are rarely/ never pay to be at the top of a tower
atts hsdpa is capable of 6 megs not to mention their lte is faster + 800 coverage has been around for a while for them ill be lucky if i ever see 800 coverage in st pete.
... just simple facts not knocking ya or anything ( or sprint for that matter)
im happy with them finally after backhaul to my tower by my house got installed finally see over 1 meg some times on cdma altho nv/lte is not complete
Please discuss LTE in the sticky thread
Thanks
