[Q] Properly Controlling OC/UV? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, real quick question:
If I download a ROM that includes Performance settings (for example, AOKP), and I download a kernel that already has its own OC/UV set up, how do I know which side is used to control the OC/UV?
Basically, I want to make sure that I'll be using the kernel the way the author set it up - and not have AOKP take over control of OC/UV/Governors/etc. How do I go about doing this?

The Performance settings will take control over the kernel preset OC/UV.
It's like saying, stock kernel use 100-1000MHz. After you use SetCPU, it will replace defaults with your assigned ones. It's the same thing.
Just don't touch performance settings, and it'll be running the preset kernel ones.

[ADDON PACK][12/18/11] Bulletproof MIUI Pack v1.2 :: OC/Optimized/Extras!

Bulletproof MIUI Addon Pack
Due to a lack of time, I've discontinued weekly updates to Bulletproof MIUI. I didn't want to leave anyone behind, so I believe I've come up with the next-best-solution.
The Bulletproof addon pack is designed to be flashed directly over the weekly translated MIUI builds (e.g. MIUI.us/MIUIandroid.com, etc). The pack will enable all of the features listed below, and should make your phone run significantly better.
The addon pack allows you to update as soon as the translations are available, so you're not stuck waiting on me to update every week! This pack should (in theory) work on pretty much any G2/DZ ROM, but your milage may vary. Please always make a backup before flashing, just in case.
Features
- /system converted to ext4 file system.
- Virtuous OC Daemon (Installing SetCPU or CPU Tuner will automatically disable the daemon.)
- Tsubus' ILWT kernel
- EFS wiped on flash to prevent GPS issues.
- Wifi Calling conditionally installed for T-Mobile US users, uninstalled otherwise.
- Modified SD card read cache (set to 4096)
- Applications Zipaligned on boot (skipped if already ZA'd)
- App Widget Picker added for users who prefer to use alternative launchers.
- CyanogenMod/Galaxy Nexus ringtones/notification/alarm tones
- OC/UV Beater bundled to control/configure OC
- Themed keyboard that's much more MIUI-like
Installation Instructions:
- Install the MIUI ROM of your choice (MIUI.us/MIUIAndroid.com recommended)
- Flash the Addon pack
- Configure OC settings via the OC/UV Beater application
Whenever you update your MIUI each week (either via OTA or by manually downloading/flashing), simply flash the pack afterwards and you're all set!

MIUI Resources and Addons

When you pull down the notification bar, you will see the Toggle settings for plenty of options (such as WIFI, volume, backlight etc). Long press on any icon in the Toggle mode will launch the setting for that icon.
2. Built-in Screen Capture function
One of the lacking feature in Android is the lack of a built-in screen capture feature (like in iPhone). Not anymore. With MIUI, you can press the “Menu” key and “Volume Down” key at the same time to capture a screenshot. The printed image is saved in the “MIUI: directory in the sd card.
3. Press Home key to preview screens
Pressing the Home button once will bring you back to the Home screen. Pressing the Home button button will show you all the screen thumbnails. You can also ad/remove screens from here.
4. Slide from left to right to quickly delete a message or a call log.
In the SMS or Dialer app, swipe left or right any entry will bring up the Delete mode.
5. Move home screen icon easily
Hold down an icon by one hand to enter Edit Mode, and then use the other hand to slide the screen to move the icon to the target screen.
6. Launch Music Player in lockscreen
In the lockscreen, double tap the time zone to launch the Music Player. (The Music Player is hidden by default, unless a song is playing)
7. Quickly access the Dialer or SMS from the lockscreen
In the lockscreen, hold down the icon of Call or SMS, and you can enter the responding program.
8. Activate the torch from the lockscreen
In the lockscreen, hold down the Home button to enable the torch.
9. Access shortcut menu from contact image
In the Calls, SMS or Contacts app, tap the contact image and a shortcut menus will appear.
10. Search via voice recognition
Long press on the Search button will launch search via voice recognition.
11. Switch the Battery UI to show percentage
The default battery UI can be switched to display percentage of left battery capacity. To do so, go to “Settings -> System -> Battery Settings -> Battery Indicator Style -> Percentage“.
12. Long press on the Home button to show History
Like any other Android ROM, long press on the Home button will show the recently used apps. However, in MIUI, there is also an App Killer and App Manager button. Swiping the popup left will show the search form.
13. Setting up IP dialing
If you need to add an IP prefix for a particular number in a strange land, you can set it in Settings -> Common -> Calls Settings. Turn the “Auto IP dialing” ON and set the IP prefix and current area code.
14. Send SMS for rejected calls
When you are not available to answer the phone, you may slide up the panel to reject the call and to send a message to the caller at the same time.
15. Enable 720P to record a video
If your phone comes with a camera that support HD recording, you can enable 720P in the Video mode. Run the Camera app and switch to Video. Select “High” -> “720P” in the pop-up menu of video quality.
16. Quickly uninstall an app
To uninstall an app, simply press and hold the icon until the trash bin show up at the top of the screen. Move the icon to the trash bin to uninstall the app.
17. Quickly read SMS and mark it read
In the lockscreen, press down the SMS button (without dragging it down) to reveal the new incoming message on the lockscreen. Once you have finished reading it, double tap on the SMS button to mark it read.
18. Making the MIUI launcher smoother
On first boot on a fresh install, go into Launcher Settings, and toggle hi-res graphics on, then back off again (If you intend on using the stock MIUI Launcher, this seems to smooth it out significantly)
19. Brightness slider on notification pulldown
Disable auto brightness and you'll get a brightness slider in the notification toggle pulldown.
20. Built in FTP server
MIUI has a built-in FTP file server. To use it, open the File Manager application, and tap on the "FTP" tab.
BONUS: MIUI is pronounced "ME YOU EYE", but say it however you want

I installed it and it performs well so far. I flashed the tiamat 1.1 kernel to because i like the smartass governor a lot, but now it seems as if the virtuous overclock controller just doesn't work with it (fc's all the time).. Does this mean that the daemon doesn't work either?
Whats better abouth the virtous controller compared to setcpu?
Cheers keep up the good work tho!!
thanks for your hard work, will try it later!

Oh well so much for the bulletproof part, guess this was a flop. Let me know when the FC's go away and we'll talk.

The overclock daemon wasn't intended to work with the smartass governor. The daemon uses screen off profiles which makes the smart ass governor useless. Switch back to the on demand governor or the per shoot kernel and things will probably work better

first thing i notice is that scrolling through the homescreens is smooth as butter! wow.
im going to try this one for some time, see if it becomes my new favourite!
Just wondering is the kernel important to work with the daemon or does the governor just need to be set to on demand and it works with any miui compatible kernel?
so could i use tiamat or streamline5 with this kernel then? (sorry i know jsut the concept behind daemon but not the specifics like this)
The force closes of the controller are due to the frequencies in the scripts that are default not being supported by the kernel. If you want to use a different kernel change the frequency in the script then everything will work as expected.

Where is the link to the Rom you cooked up. Think you can do do better? Let me know when It's released and we'll talk.
If have to criticize don't be so rude about it.
i totally agree with u...
Nonsense
link appears to be broken
The latest builds can always be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/miui_vision.
...Oops! This link appears to be broken.
Ok so now after reading this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14529333&postcount=5
things are starting to make sense, and it seems legit to go with the pershoot kernel and skip the smartass governor alltogether.
Let's try with the pershoot kernel then
cheers

Eco Mode alternative for aosp

Hey I am trying to find something convenient as eco mode for rootbox rom...
I know it is possible to hotplug and change settings from within the app... but on the go thats a few extra steps I'm trying to decrease...
Is there any cpu tuner app with a widget that can automate all these things? I can find ones that will change governor and lock frequency... but no easy way of enabling hotplug ...
wishing trickster mod had a widget but no luck... sigh
so anybody know of an easy way of sort of enabling eco mode like the stock rom does?
try trickster mod PAY version

[Q] Can't change SetCPU Settings after CM10

Hi I just updated my Xperia Play to CM10 Zeus FXP226 Rom + Lupus Zeus v13 Kernel and it's working great. The only problem is that even though the device is definitely rooted I can't seem to change any of the settings in SetCPU. I use the slider to choose a new min/max and governor/scheduler but it doesn't change the current settings text underneath where it shows the current cpu speed. I have tried selecting 'Set On Boot' and rebooting and it saves my selection but the text under current cpu speed still states I'm on default settings. I have never had this problem before.. Please help.

[Q] How can I set up profiles to change on a schedule?

I'm running Codename Android 3.8.0 ROM, build JZO54K, on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and have set up profiles (home, work, sleep, etc) that are part of the ROM settings but there is no way I can see to have them change on a schedule. I have to manually change them using the profile switcher of the power menu. I did find one way to do it by using the clock alarm feature "When alarm triggers, the profile will be changed to _____", but that's kind of a pain since it sets off an alarm that has to be dismissed. Does anybody know of a way to do it on a schedule, weather by a tweak or mod of the ROM or by an app that will switch the profiles of the ROM and not by creating their own profiles inside the app. Also, If it's possible, maybe by way of a cron job setup to do this.
Thanx in advance.
A lot of people use Tasker. Personally, before I started using NFC tags, I use llama location profiles. It worked really well

[Q] TricksterMod

Does anyone use TricksterMod, if so, what are your minfree control settings?
I'd like to get rid of the lag on stock Rom.
