New GSM Roms Coming??? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As a ex owner of a sensation and galaxy S, this forum has only got a small handful of GSM Roms, the majority of roms are for CDMA which cant be flashed to our GSM phones, so, are there any roms coming soon? chefs?

also some for locked bootloaders, untill i can get mine unlocked please.

[Q] Will the custom roms for the DHD work on the inspire?

I am sure the rooting process will be different but will the ROMS be compatible since it is essentially the same device?

because its not the same device, for starters its 4g, it will use a totally diffrent radio version, drivers will be diffrent, it will use a diffrent framework..... want me to continue?
Well then hopefully there will be some Inspire 4G boards popping up soon.
No doubt they will, xda will support every htc device without question, keep in mind only a year ago this was a htc only forum

That's nonsense.
its not about the processor......its about the HUGE resizing which is main pain in the butt..........you do know ICS is meant for ARMv7 and above processors but it is running quite smooth on my friend's Wildfire.....
MIUI is the most good looking rom for any android phone. It would be great if we manage to port it to hdpa screen.

My mistake, didn't know that MIUI is open source now.. but just like csoulr666 said.. there is huge resizing and it requires lot of knowelge about programming.. it would be great if somebody ports it to ours wilfire s
First Miui ROM coming soon
I did it, I worked about 20 hours to port miui onto our phones
Alpha test comes soon!
I wont port it to WFS, I hate resizing, I had it to do a lot already in HenseMod for the custom theming.
For MIUI there's also a special framework, like htcresources.apk, which makes it difficult to port to WFS.
However, I've got some things in my mind and on my mac, expect end next week a flashable zip for CM7 users to turn your phone into MIUI.

No, in my manual it is listed as model A510a. Even says that behind the battery.

Mine's an A510a and it's GSM with SIM.
Could this be the reason why porting to metro pcs phones requires more work? Or is this just a little miss understanding?

I really don't know, as I don't do much developing. I leave that to the pros.
However, I am willing to test anything on this phone just to get rid of HTC Sense. I have an LG Optimus M I can always fall back on.
I will also say that MetroPCS is a CDMA only carrier, and the original WFS required a SIM card and ours does not. Maybe they got HTC to modify the phone for them?
But the phone manual says its an A510a. insink made a MetroPCS stock ROM with a2sd support and that's what I'm currently using, and it was even labeled for A510a only.
Ill be kinda upset if I just bought a phone that's impossible to develop ROMS on lol

Apologies. I just left the MetroPCS store, paying my bill. I inquired about my phone being an A510a. They told me that my phone manual isn't correct, and that it is indeed an A510c.
Again, I was misinformed. And I apologise.

[Q] US GSM Galaxy Nexus Rom Question

Hey everyone, I just bought a new Galaxy Nexus. It's the US GSM Galaxy Nexus from Google Play. I'm wondering whats the difference from the International version. I want to root my phone and install roms on it, so should I use the root methods and roms for the International version or is it different. Thanks!

The hardware is identical. The only difference is that it is running takju, which is basically just yakju with Wallet pre-installed.
Its the same hardware. Just follow the GSM guides and you're good to go!

Thanks! I'm about to root it. I wanted to be sure so I don't end up with a shiny brick.
Just stay away from the Verizon/Sprint forums.

Don't worry. I already knew *for sure* to stay out of the Sprint and Verizon forums.
The only difference is that Play Store Nexus users have been reporting that their device does not wipe when they unlock the bootloader. We haven't been able to pinpoint what is causing that difference. Other than that, exactly the same.

Getting zl today

I'm picking up a zl today to replace my broken one xl i was running a pac rom on it and was wondering if there are any good pa style roms good for daily use
Also do custom roms have the ir working? Like cm or pa roms?

You need to make sure that the bootloader is unlockable on the phone before you get it if you want to flash custom kernels and CM based roms.
Some models of the ZL are unlockable, some aren't.
Do your research before you buy, or you'll end up with a locked bootloader one like me
Thanks for the reply is it based on model number or does it depend on your carrier? I'm getting it from rogers in canada

Your bootloader will be locked. It depends on carrier.
Thought it might be rogers sucks. Is there any other way to unlock it like how the xperia arc could be unlocked using test points and a program

That's because your phone came already unlockable bootloader. You didnt change it from No to Yes. Some phones have it say No and it is still possible, it just give incorrect information. But most Rogers Sony phones you cannot unlock the bootloader.

Not much in way of custom ROMs go for something else with more development support. It's pretty dead here.

For now yes. Only flash roms from the Verizon section. If you see a rom in another phone's forum (Sprint for example) that you would like to try, make sure you ask the dev for that rom first and see if it will work on our One.
However, always assume that only the roms listed in the Verizon forums will work on this phone. Flashing the wrong rom will seriously ruin and or brick your phone.
