I use bluetooth voice calling in my car with BlueAnt 4S. It works pretty well except for Bluetooth voice dialer prompt is very low. It is very hard to hear but when phone connects then audio is good.
I used my plantronics headset with a bb bold 9000 and it was loud and clear.
I had general volume issues with the Nexus, most solved with volume+ aside from in-call volume. The Bluetooth prompts are very quiet even post-root volume+ settings...

Yes, bluetooth prompts are the main problem I am having. Otherwise volume on my bluetooth speaker is fine. You can hardly hear bluetooth prompts.
Exactly my current main issue as well.

Is it possible, and how, to configure Nimbuzz (or Android) to use bluetooth headset for audio instead of the phone speaker and mic when using Skype call?

This would be nice but I'm afraid it doesn't work...
solution
I have N1 froyo stock rom and I make calls with nimbuzz through skype account using a bluetooth stereo headset. Any sound will go through your bluetooth stereo headset, I have two of them (car & home). The good thing using it in my car is the voice directions from navigation app goes thought it, speaker sound quality on N1 is horrible.
Now, if you have froyo device you also can install "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" from the market. This app route audio through bluetooth mono headset, but it's a trial version. You have 5 days free trial so you can try it and if it works for you then you can buy it.
Good lock.

Nomo, thanks for the answer. You pointed me in the right direction. Obviously the answer is simple: in order to use mono Bluetooth headset for listening audio other than phone call, on Android, that BT headset needs to support A2DP. One of those acronyms for which I thought "why would I need this weird four-letter thingy" when I bought my Plantronics 975
Now just to wait for aforementioned app to become mature enough…
How do I make it so my Bluetooth headset will be used when i press the mic icon in the keyboard? Basically I want all sound to come through the Bluetooth (notifications, etc) and the Bluetooth to always be used as the mic no matter what I'm doing.

I have paired my Plantronics Marque Bluetooth headset with my Galaxy Nexus GSM model. The headset is paired and connected. I can say "answer" to answer an incoming call, but I can't hear anything through the BT headset. I think that the caller can hear me, but I'm not sure.
I also tried to use my Motorola H720 headset and had similar results. The Plantronics headset works fine with my HTC Sensation. Is there anything that I should do differently in order for the phone audio to work with the BT headset?
I think there is a problem with the bluetooth stack in the Galaxy Nexus, I've been encountering sync issues with my car which works fine with Nexus S and Nexus One.
Should I contact Google about this? Using BT is important while I drive. I have gotten used to not holding a phone up to my ear while I talk, so this could be a deal-breaker for me. I really like this phone and don't want to give it up, though.
Hello everyone,
I paired my LG Tone HBS-700 with the Nexus 7. Audio works flawlessly but when it comes to microphone ...
When making a call in Skype or Viber I can't get the mic on the bluetooth headset to work. I can only hear audio. The mic on the tablet works fine but hey I bought a bluetooth headset to get away from the tablet and relax on the bed.
Any solutions?
I think this is known. Corded headset with mic doesn't work either.

I've griped on end over this and searched so I'll save you some time. It seems no app except for grooveip works with bluetooth recording. I haven't tried grooveip myself but others say it definitely works. If it wasn't for grooveip, I would suspect the proper audio profile isn't there in the nexus 7. I wish a dev could confirm this. I wouldn't have thought bluetooth mics would be a big thing. In my ignorance I assumed it would become your 'sound device' when paired and any app that attempted to record/capture audio would be re-routed to the bluetooth device. If it is a matter of apps being properly coded, maybe we'll have I dunno, 4 or 5 apps that work properly with bluetooth in a couple of years.
Yeah I'm being a little cynical but I was surprised how poor bluetooth support is when it doesn't seem to be the case on the bb/ipad side. The other disappointment with bluetooth is audio sync with gaming. So travelling and I feel like gaming I have to switch to a wired headset. I read it's an issue with bluetooth itself, but confirmed with a couple of friends the sync issue doesn't happen on playback or ipad.
Just to add it's not just gaming. Basically you'll only have audio sync with movies that are hardware decoded (e.g. when using google's movie player or youtube app), but try and play an xvid etc. So I think you'll find audio playback isn't flawless either.

I have had no problems with A2DP on both my Note 1 and Note 2.
Having you checked that "Media Audio" is selecting in the pairing options on the Nite for your head unit?

Dave
