this one.
Welcome on board
Thanks man!!
How i can unlock bootloader and fastboot ?
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
I think there you find everything you need.
if youv got sim free unbranded phone you can use the sony ericcsson unlocker, if its sim locked you have to use allessandro or something like that method, i havnt had much luck so far, tho the stock rom isnt so bad, i do miss flashing custom kernels and roms tho, good luck with eveything.

my phone was branded 3 !!
Now i flashed 4.0.2.A.62 and don't see the brand !!
Can i use sony ericsson unlocker?
as long as your sim isnt locked you can. branding does not matter.
pretty sure you will need to use allessandro paid method, costs around 20 dollars i think, to pay for the setool credits required to do the unlock.
there are many on the board that will vouch for the service, so dont be discouraged by that.
its probably not your best introduction to the xplay, but this phone is very rewarding once you've had some time with it. having virtually every game available to play, as intended, on every console released up to and including the n64 is pretty awesome, and viturally all the decent market titles support the controls as well.
im praying for a xplay2, cause i'll be damned if im getting a slab phone :/
Yes sorry, welcome, as above says this is an awesome phone esp for game playing, some of the games and gameplay is amazing, and onlive brings ps3 quality games to your phone, all the best

Where i can download 4.0.2.A.0.62 rom but installable by recovery?
I falshad this rom with flashtool, and with "adb pull system", i pull the system.
after i make a update_script but after flash the rom has bugs (no usb connectio, no phone options)...
I'm going to make a costum rom.
I think .42 was a main rom and 62 was bug fixes for asia or africa, im sure i seen that somewhere

I think .62 is the best firmware. Not sure, but I think they updated the baseband in this fw
iv only used the 42 firmware but iv since flashed the 38 baseband because its supposed to be better.
42 has much more bloatware...

I wondered if it would even boot, and it does.
I've chucked in a compatible WiFi module so WiFi works, but Camera won't, Bluetooth won't and I don't know what else might blow up! It's a starting point for an enterprising chef for sure and an interesting exercise. This ROM is using the stock Hero kernel.
Boy oh boy is it FAST...
Download link is at http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/292601/google-ion-rom-for-hero/#

Note: Ion ROM is 1.2 from here.
As requested in the MoDaCo topic, looks odd eh!

Could you please test if selecting and copying text via trackball works in this rom/device combination. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557613

Thanks for the rom.

i think thats because g1 ports are more "well-engineered", because the g1 is older.. if we wait some time, surely the trackball selecting will work
After trying this for a while, I have two main concerns:
-How can I install a given locale (more specifically Spanish)?
-Paul, when you publish a newer ROM with camera / BT support... will we need to wipe?
Thanks again for this, I'd been waiting for this moment since I got my phone.
Things that will need some work:
- Trackball
- Rotation
- Camcorder / Camera
But it's a beginning!
what is the difference betwwen google ion rom and the htc rom without rosie? (except that some things do not work in the ion rom )

The HTC rom has lots of customisations and apps different from ION's. Lots of them, really.
EDIT - headphone detection needs fixing too.
okay, so one can say, that the google ion is the pure rom? is there any device which runs originally the google ion rom?

As far as I know yes, it is. It's the one the HTC ION (also called Magic) runs.
Although I believe the Google Ion is just a Magic hardware wise, the device itself was handed out for free at the Google I/O Developers Conference, and had a different OS build to the shipping Magic devices.
Regards,
Dave
we are all rooting and flashing modified roms.. but where to geht for example the original updated (if any) Htc Hero Rom? i guess there will be updates for that... on the htc site there was not really something like that
That's the RUU package you will find linked elsewhere here. It hasn't been formally released by HTC yet, which is why you can't find it on the HTC website.
Regards,
Dave
I will not be working on the Ion ROM... I hope another chef will pick it up if they want it and work on compatability.
I just wanted to see if it'd boot!
P
Paul, you're right, its extremely fast. Wouldn't mind using the basic android as my default rom but I guess theres still a few kinks to work out. Liking it so far though ^^
Just so you know a newer ION image is available on the HTC site : http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/google-io-device.html
With so many wonderful ROM around, it is just hard to pick...
However, I have one question....
Which firmware BESIDES Chinese 2.21 is the "OFFICIAL" firmware?
Well, there is no official ROM
Anyway, you can also try the new Finnland ROM. It has a higher build number (145).

I notice only China has official released firmware sbf, but rest are from "leak" firmware right?
Does that mean, "officially" only China got 2.2?
From the bugs that I read about in several forums and threads, I'd rather call it an open beta, than an official release
But you're right. There is no other official release, yet.
tks for your answer...
I was hoping.....
official upgrade Schedule
supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades
The official schedule shows no DEFY for the US at all, but there was a Tmo US leak a little while back so it seems that it is being worked on.

There is oficial 2.2 other than chinese, brazilian Claro carrier have 2.2 defy, never tried but heard it doesnt have google apps, scary
Anyways, Claro has exclusivity on defy here, but somehow TIM also has defy for sale with 2.1 (clearly obtained throug Claro) but the point is, how is it going to work out for TIM users if motorola "thinks" only Claro is selling defy here, are we gona use Claro update? are we gona be left out? hehe pretty messy.

Just so you know, Generic World doesn't exist. I know the service tool reports it, but only EMMA reports the right region names. It's probably just a Generic Country version.

It's much smoother, I get no lags or redraws now, or the Launcher restarting, .452 was quite annoying from that point of view, even with the build.prop tweak.
I noticed it didn't enter deep sleep properly at first (flashed it without wiping data), but I reset the battery (power+volume up) and I'm not having that problem anymore.
Battery life seems to be on par with .452, maybe a bit better. WiFi signal is still weaker than it was on Gingerbread.

Is it possible if I flash CM10?
I am afraid that after I flash CM10, my phone will have no SIM service or brick.
CM10 will change your phone to an aosp style rom. I'm not sure of Asian support. Your phone will still be an i-747 and since it's an American phone you will have a hard time finding Asian support for it. And for a brick you just have to know what your doing.

CM10 won't give you an Asian firmware(not totally sure what you mean), if you want another language just change it in settings no flash required. Flashing cm10 might give more regional support then say the AT&T stock rom though. CM10 will not break your sim unlock, your thinking iphone. Android phone roms aren't tied to the baseband so you wont have any issues.
As long as your phone is unlocked, you'll be fine with flashing roms. I used aokp rom on my i747 in korea and it worked fine.
It seems like your apn isn't set yet. Google for the appropriate apn settings for that carrier.

Thank you for your idea. rightnow, my phone is rooted and already installed CWM.
and now, I dont know where should I start. should I flash CM10 first or modem first (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898)?
CM10 is little rough around the edges. Try CM9 - it is good and very stable. Or try my ROM - it's enriched CM9.
I'd first unlock the phone - get in touch with AT&T to help you with that, it will be free since you are in another country.

yes that will work..go to settings>about phone> and you will find all the info abt ur software versions...u are basically looking for build number here..
Build Number is:
6.2.B.0.211
Therefore since it appears to be the most recent firmware, I can simply skip to the rooting portion of the guide correct?
Thanks, I've been hoping to get my phone rooted to get rid of all the bloatware.
You guys are awesome!
I have attempted to root the device to no avail. Does the firmware have to be flashed over? Or can I use the firmware currently on it. If it has to be flashed over, my phone does not appear to have drivers in the flash tool. Can I flash without installing a driver?

It tells me to use the display system check but it just gets stuck hanging at a white screen on my phone and the program does not continue from there. If you could tell me the version of the root program and which option to use, I might be able to do it, but I've tried a few different versions of it with different options. Not exactly sure what I can do.
Edit: Do I have to flash my firmware before trying to root? It doesn't say anywhere that I have to, however could that be what's not allowing me to root?
