Long story short. I'm rooted and unlocked. Stuck at google screen after flashing Francos 14.4 for the wrong version
I've got the stock kernel i just need a way to flash it to the phone. Any help is greatly appreciated
put the phone in bootloader, open up a terminal and use
fastboot flash boot boot.img
if you have the stock kernel as a .img that is
adb isnt recognizing my device as being there
You don't use adb when your phone is in bootloader, you use fastboot.
im not sure im following you
Your thread title says "flashing through fastboot"..
Download a stock image, which will include the stock kernel if you haven't already. If your stock kernel is in the form "boot.img" then you are fine. If not, you need to find a boot.img.
Put the boot.img file in the same folder that you have your fastboot file in.
In terminal, CD into the folder that your fastboot file is in.
Hold volume and power and put your phone in bootloader mode. Use the command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
this will flash the stock kernel you downloaded as long as it is in the form of boot.img.
There's a toolkit for all this

I got my GSM GNex yesterday and have switched to Yakju via ODIN. (Took all morning research how to do that....shows you what my capability level is)
I'm currently on XXKK6 and which came with my 4.0.2 OTA update and I think its killing my battery much faster than KK1 was..Speeds are slower now and is constantly switching between UTMS and HSPA on TMo.
I would like to flash a new Radio ONLY....not interested in ROMs, etc.
I've been searching the most efficient / safest way to do this but I'm afraid I'm stuck without pretty clear step by step instructions.....I know there's the thread about the toolkit here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 , but do I really need to get into CWM to do this? Is fastboot the better option, and if so....can someone at least give me a few hints as to getting there?
(and maybe which radio is the one to go with)?
Go into cwm and flash the zip
Okay I've just unlocked bootloader via the toolkit...anyone care to elaborate a little further on this?
i think u need to be rooted to flash the radio
You can use fastboot to flash the radio. To revert to KK1 you can grab the radio image from the Google Galaxy Nexus factory images.
1.) Have the fastboot utilities and ADB Interface drivers installed.
2.) Download the Yakju/maguro/GSM Google factory image from here. Either ITL41D or ITL41F will work since both images contain the same radio image.
3.) Use an extraction utility (like 7zip) to extract the radio image (radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img) from the file and place it in your fastboot directory.
4.) Boot your phone into Fastboot mode and connect it to your computer.
5.) Issue the following fastboot command through a terminal on your PC:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img
6.) I can't remember if the phone reboots after a radio flash. If not you can use the fastboot utility by issuing a "fastboot reboot" or using the volume control and power button on the phone to select "Restart".
Okay,
I just flashed UGKL1 via CWM....I just followed the instructions from the toolkit thread.
Question about the radio zip that is now living at the root of my phone storage...can I safely delete it?
also, (this is probably a dumb one) now that I am bootloader unlocked and CWM enabled, will I still get OTA updates?
You can also flash UGKL1 radio for use on TMo network. This radio was meant for North America. Again u will have to try to search for the best one.
U can use Fastboot mode for flashing.

U can delete it if u want.. u should probably keep a folder on your computer of backups just in case u upgrade again and like the previous one more.
I think u can get updates but it will undo your root and u will have to redo it over again if u wish to flash something else

Factory Reset?
After flashing the radio only, will the phone do a factory reset? Or will all my previous settings be intact?

Your setting should be fine
so i got into this problem i sucessfully unlocked the bootloader using htc offficial method flashed the twrp recovery wiped everything as coming from stock rom
downloaded the slimbeam rom and the g apps and flashed it but the problem is after the htc boot screen i am getting this kind of message in red lines and then it get stuck at that i tried several other roms also still the same problem any solutions where i got wrong??
On your PC, take the rom you're flashing and unzip it with 7zip, get the boot.img file over to where your fastboot is, then in fastboot USB mode, issue this command -
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Be sure that you're only using a rom for your phone.

You're unlocked with HTCdev.com but encrypted signature security is still there - aka s-on.
You'll need to do this with every rom flash, unless it includes an s-on kernel installer.
And if one does, those don't work 100% of the time, not the dev's fault.
This is pretty much the standard procedure for all s-on HTCs.
You can skip it if your flashing a similar rom and you're sure it has the exact same kernel as the previous one.
But you'll probably spend more time figuring that out each time than just doing the procedure.
I think most people do the rom first, then the boot.img - I think that you want to go with that.
Thanks man really appreciated the reply
Btw can you suggest stable cm rom kernel combo and
also do I have to flash the boot. Img from the rom I downloaded?
I would be great if you provide stable cm rom :thumbup:
Send from my nexus 7 still on jb
Sorry, I own other HTC models and you have to go with one for your phone.
And yeah, you want to flash the boot.img from each rom you download and try.
The boot.img contains the kernel - that ties the hardware to the rest of the rom.
They have to match up.
So we I am also trying to flash ligux rom so we need to flash the rom and gapps in the recovery and then flash the hell boy kernel through flash boot via cmd right?

If that kernel and rom combo are compatible, yes, that's it exactly for an s-on HTC.

You will want to install your recovery using a cmd prompt. Our phone is S-on, so you may run into difficulty trying to use goo for a recovery installation. MAKE A BACKUP ONCE YOU GET TWRP INSTALLED!!!!
If you want cm10 you will need to get your twrp up and running first, download your desired cm10 zip to your computer, open archives using 7zip, copy the boot img from the rom zip to your working fastboot folder (assuming that you have fastboot set up since you got this far), open a cmd window and navigate to your fastboot folder using the command cd c:\yourfastbootfoldername.
Once your rom is installed, reboot to bootloader. Plug your phone into your pc, it should switch from fastboot to fastboot usb. Use the command fastboot flash boot boot.img. You should now be able to reboot your phone and enjoy cm10!

You should install kernel that given on every ROM thread, and not always HELLBOY.
Unlocked bootloader doesn't mean that your phone is S-Offed, it is different.

There is a whole lot more work to get the device s-off. Your kernel is the boot img that I mentioned earlier. I am PrimoC, so I don't have experience with hellboy, but I do have to flash a new kernel with every rom. If you are going from one cm10 to another cm10, you might be safe, but I wouldn't chance it. Unlocking your bootloader allows you to flash kernels. It doesn't give you s-off.

The one that came with ROM. And please.. just read the damn instruction in the ROM thread, everything is said clearly there, I can bet on that. Read it carefully step by step or you will end up here soon or sooner with another question like "Guys my htc is bricked help".
I just got home from work.... Did you get it, or would you like that tutorial

I'm on windows 10
So i'm trying to root my Z1 compact and I have an unlocked bootloader. I'm on .108 but when i try to run the root method it keeps saying "adb server is out of date. Killing..." and it just does that over and over.
I tried using adb fixer but it says adb.exe isn't found even though i'm directing it to the correct folder.
I know how to flash from flashtool so if anyone can either direct me to a stock prerooted rom or help me on how to get adb fixer to recognize the file that would be appreciated. I've already spent 4 hours trying to fix this myself.

With unlocked BL, you can flash anything you want with fastboot. Just try flashing a twrp IMG, and see if that gets you recovery. If not, find a custom kernel for 108, (I think mosh kernel will work), and extract the boot IMG, then flash boot IMG and recovery IMG to get into recovery. If you download SuperSU zip file ahead of time, then you can flash in recovery, and you're rooted. Make sure to use the right commands: fastboot flash boot for kernel and flasboot flash recovery for recovery.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try this later as I am work now. It's always the most frustrating problems that have the simplest solutions....
While unlocking camera 2 api It says failed (remote:dtb not found) in fastboot boot patchedboot.img step, any idea whats wrong?I tried with latest magisk as well as with the one in the patched boot file. Bootloader is unlocked and my phone is in the latest build 11.0.4.0 stock.

I suppose you are trying to flash the patched boot.img. If that's the case, the command is "fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img".

No, not flash. Just boot.
Sounds like you are not running the command from the folder with the patched boot file. Or the file has a different name.
