[Q] Hebrew language support on 2.3.5 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello Guys,
i have SGH - 989 and i really love it . the only issue is that i am using hebrew language and get emails using gmail app. the headlines are shown left to right instead of right to left, when i enter the email , everything is fine and i see correct.
another issue is with sms, i type hebrew without problems but numbers are shown also the other direction, so instead of 2012 it will show me 2102
do you have any clu how to solve this. I could install a hebrew Rom but they dont have a rom for 989 but to i9100

[Q] Arabic Support fro Desire HD 'ACE'

Greeting, I am expecting my ACE coming weekend, with full eagerness. Anybody managed to replace font files for this release to support Arabic language.
Hi. Its support Arabic but don't have rtl support yet. We need root for that...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You can use a program called 'Mirsal' in the meantime. It can read and write arabic text messages and it supports RTL. You do not even need root to install it!
For some reason it is no longer on the Android market, so you will have to google it.

I don't know about numbers, but on my friends HTC Wildfire it can read and write arabic from right to left fine.
Appreciate your reply, however, the app [Mirsal] is just a workaround to the issue. We would like to incorporate the Arabic fonts natively on the device, like what was done on the Nexus One scenario. Actually latest news on N1, they added the Arabic support part of Cyanogen ROMs
Even if someone builds CM6 for the DHD, you won't be able to flash it, since we don't have full root

Why don't you wait for it to hit the middle east? HTC said this so that costumers will get Arabic support unlike people who will buy the phone outside which won't be supported. This was a response from HTC MEA to someone who was planning to import the phone from UK

all the issue with the language was misunderstanding.
the froyo and the DHD is sopport hebrew and arabic fonts,
so we can write/read or see websites, sms and users in our language.
i issue is RTL support that missing, for exeple - if we writing numbers
we will see it up side down - 1234 will show as 4321 and so...
mind me for asking, cant we implement RTL VIA RUU like mentioned here?

Would you please verify if there is an Arabic language listed on the languages section?

again and again and again - same answer.
yes it support Arabic front but he don't have LTR.
I'm not sure if this is relevant or not - especially as I'm not using a DHD - but on my Xperia X10 (UK generic 1.6) I use Handcent SMS. My girlfiend is from the UAE and I sometimes send her texts in Arabic and Handcent seems to support both Arabic font and RTL.
So maybe try Handcent SMS (available free on Market).
I appreciate I could be way off the mark here though so apologies if I've caused any confusion.

Froyo supports displaying the Arabic characters but not reshaping them.. so in case you are viewing Arabic text all the letters will be disconnected and not RTL.. hard to read.. in Hebrew as the letters don't need to be reshaped/connected it displays it fine but will get the reversing problem if a number is inserted.....
so the answer for the Arabic is no..
check this thread for a temp solution

Arabic now is supported by @alsanad
My DHD, bought in Canada, reads Arabic RTL the only problem is that the letters are disconnected. Supposedly Gingerbread will sort this out, whenever it hits the DHD that is.
if you have root you can flash CynogenMod 7 gingerbread and it has full arabic support with connected letters
that's the only one i found so far.

[Q] WildFire S ::: Arabic Keyboard

Hi All,
I've got a brand new hTC WildFire S, I'm feeling like I moved from a country to a country, I'd a Tytn II first ages ago (WM) then a blackberry and along with now, I'm having this WildFone , the fone is nice, battery is ok, moving apps to sd improves the memory situation...
I just don't want to take risks, does anybody have an idea about how to make the Arabic Keyboard visible like the English one (like the IPad or something, there is a button like "Earth Planet" beside the Space Buttong ?
Especially, I bought it from Egypt and it's Arabic Enabled...
Simply you can long press the text field on phone ans select INPUT METHOD and then selected desired keyboard.
That was very useful...I've been trying for 3 days to work it out
Same issue, didn't work
Hi, I've just got a brand new wildfire S as well, but from the UK. It has 2.3.3 installed. I've searched the settings for international keyboards and arabic is not there, and when I tried the solution above (long press the text field) it didnt work.
Is it because my phone is not arabic enabled? When I receive text from family the arabic is shown as separated letters (arabic letters are supposed to join always). Are Egypt phones different from UK phones? How is your phone "arabic enabled" and is mine arabic enabled too?
Thanks in advance.
actually as your phone is from UK you will not be able to get the Arabic ROM for it which will make the Arabic letters connect any how if you can S-Off it you will be able to put an Arabic ROM on it otherwise no solution for this.

[Q] Location & Keyboard problem :(

Hi there
So, I've (happily) rooted my phone and put the Oxygen ROM on it. Really happy with how it runs etc. . .
except now I'm trying to run HeyTell and it won't work properly. I had a quick look in the faq for heytell & it suggested checking Location & Keyboard in the settings menu.
I had a look and its set to English (UK) . . . which would be fine if I lived in the UK, but I'm all the way over in New Zealand. It means that Heytell automatically changes the prefix on the phone numbers to +44 instead of + 64
Any suggestions or ideas on how I could fix this?
Many thanks!!!
Why don't you ask in oxygen forum:

ICS SMS problem..

Hi there , i have a problem that only happens after i get ICS roms , i try with Arconium ICS custom rom based on Nordic and now i use Iberia stock rom.
The problem is , with special caracters like "ç" , "á , à , ê " etc if my sms are with some large size i cant send the sms , Go SMS say send and received but no sms are received , never had this problem with past versions of android " using till 2.1 " and now i get this huge problem.
Tested on Stock sms app , Go sms app , and on 2 ROMs stock Iberia and Arconum ICS .
ps: sorry the bad english
Once you use characters that aren't in the GSM character set (which is mainly English characters plus a few of accented characters) the message will be sent as Unicode which has a limit of 70 chars instead of 140. Have you tried sending a shorter message?
Also, your provider should be able to split these messages and deliver them so they look like one message. I am surprised if ICS itself is to blame but I wouldn't rule it out.
Short sms send without any problem.
Large sms dont send
No one?
You can try some little thing,
change language and dictionnary to try if it's same. Or if you want to be sure that's not because a bad file or something else. Go back to official rom (flashtool and ftf file...) and retry. After that go new kernel and custom rom...
And tell us if that's work
I have the same issue. I tried to send an sms large enough to be split in 4 by the operator, but the reciever only got some of it. Maybe its our operators? Considering we're from the same country and all xD

skptar i tried 2 diferent roms and 3 kernels this is dam boring , all time i right a sms bigger i have to check if dont have any special character
Bump , the problem presist
I have a similar problem, but in my case I have the problem from previous versions of Android 2.3.3 (4.0.A.2.335) and 2.4.4 and now with the 4.1.B.0.431, apparently did not correct this problem, those who receive my messages with special characters always receives with invalid characters, happens if I use the dictionary Portuguese however if I use the English dictionary normal posts will ... however lose the spelling of words and suggestions of the system ... that hinders rather typing ... I've done all the searching to one month is apparently a problem with the same Portuguese dictionary ... how he would have been born in the United States! kkkkk things are much easier there!
I had this problem with a custom rom too. Try to hand can be a cause
Well, I guess this is the same problem I have... But no solution at all neither...

[Q] Flashing Roms of I9300 or other regions

I have a Galaxy S III (SGH-I747) which supports reading Arabic and typing
but not the system itself.
(The support is of course using applications)
When I send Arabic messages from the device, I am able to type in Arabic
however, the message receiver receives squares and question marks in the messages (????????)
I am thinking of flashing the Middle eastern rom for the I9300
into my Galaxy.
any solutions?? HELP ^_^
What are the risks?? and is it possible?
If you want to brick your phone go right ahead and flash the i9300 rom and smash your phone with a hammer.
Or you could find a language pack.. I am sure one exist..

Listen to the guy who posted before me. Also buy SwiftKey X. You can download Arabic keyboards from it and text with that.
Also the receiver needs a smartphone to read it. Regular phones don't handle it well.

Do not flash the i9300 roms to this phone. You will brick it beyond repair.
