Does the Nitro HD need a task manager or task killer like ATK?
I absolutely love my device and have no complaints on battery life, but I'll admit, there is a little lag at times.
Generally, I wouldn't use one mainly because I've never needed one on SGS2 devices or others. Because of the absence of the issue or a native install.
And I definitely don't want to annihilate the battery. I'm happy with a good 12-16hr day on it.
Easy to solve? Suggestions?
Please reply.

I'll tell you right now if your managing 12-16hr day on it if you use my rom you should get 15-20hrs a day and don't use task killers they mess up the device and make it die faster.
The only time I use a task killer is after I've used my camera. It supposedly helps keep the camera from continuing to draw power in the background. I'm not sure if it's true, but I don't want to find out the hard way...

i love this phone but after installing app killer, i noticed apps running that I never even opened.
Is there a way to keep apps from opening in there own?
Im sure its hell on the battery.
no it's not. apps being open doesn't matter, it's about your cpu that's what matters.

read this it will help since i stopped using a task killer i get less errors, and better battery life.
thanks
Oh that is great information. Now i dont have to keep going to task killer and stopping the programs.Saves me time.
Thanks again.
no prob 10/char
Kind of makes you wonder if the Task Killer is using more CPU cycles then the apps you are killing.

Same here, getting rid of task managers and just letting the phone "do its thing" has saved me battery and headache.
What slot of people think is that killing tasks saves battery. But if they just start up again it uses more cpu than when they are idle. What people should just do is root and get rid of bloatware I.e. sense and sprint stuff and start fresh like when u first get a comp. and do a clean install. But I can't root so yeah....
In all honesty what's killing battery.s is friend stream/facebook stuff. And some phones being set on gsm auto.

Wondering how some people set up the auto killer. I want my phone to kill all un necessary running apps when my phone is sleeping.
I guess what I want to do is have the least amount of programs running when my phone is sleeping
Honestly how Android handles its processes there is no need for a third party manager.

+1
I rarely kill any processes unless things get out of hand or don't close properly. I can leave my phone with the screen of for +30 minutes sometimes and not even lose 1% of battery.
I've tried using and not using a task killer and can say i havn't seen much a difference, probably an edge to NOT using since its one more thing to worry about.
I've been using auto memory manager for a long time and before that advanced task killer. Are these kind of apps even need in froyo?
My only 2 concerns are battery life and performance. Is the stock app manager good enuff?

For the longest time I did the same thing then I started heating that it was not good so on tried it with out and I can not tell a diffrence rather way in performance or battery life. So I decided to leave out off for the space even though it's not much

In my experiments I saw the battery life to be worse when using task killers with Froyo. I dont even mess with the open apps on my phone anymore.. This is because android is designed to keeps apps in the process tree so that they open faster.. However the "open apps" take up little to no memory. What I do mess with however is the Running Services. To get here go to Setting/application/ runnings services.
Hope it helped!
Which is the best Task manger? Should be good enough not to drain the battery in short time.
Thanks.

From what I read you dont need to use them I myself have never, just make sure you kill any games you play (if you do) they eat battery.
Task killers are bad because Android is designed to kill them when it needs to. The thing that drains the battery the most is apps running in the background, the screen brightness and if you CPU is being maxed out constantly.

No killing as multitasking is excellent on android; just make sure you press home instead of simply switching the screen off, apparently it leaves an application in the foreground.
The so called task killers are the stupidest apps evar made.

Yeah, don't bother.
Best way to save battery is to use a static wallpaper (not live wallpaper), turn off notifications for apps such as Facebook, Twitter etc. and only use WiFi/mobile network when you actually need it.

You don't have to disable internet connection when not needed as most of the kernels can easily get you in ~30hrs range with some tweaks regardless of it.

Because Android is designed to kill the apps!
Search the market and try them yourselfe.
We all don't use TaskKillers!

I know, I am a bit irritated, but I have a question : Why did the InsertCoin v14 rom have a Task Manager ?, (it comes from HTC Sense 3.0)

What's a good task manager that works well, I've tried a few but haven't found something I like yet. Anyone got advice.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
if your thinking of a task manager like a task killer dont use one, really a bad idea for android. if you must use something like watchdog so you dont blindly kill apps. even then when things are set up the way you like it and your sure all is well, i would suggest freezing watchdog as it sits in background itself and wastes cpu.
just do a little google search and youll see what im talking about
Ok, thanks. I'm still learning my way around this ROM and all its bells ans whistles. For some odd reason though I use up a lot of RAM. I have to go and kill apps manually.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Your definition of a lot may differ from mine, this Rom has a supercharger script built in, this along with androids ability to choose what apps to kill is the best way to go. You may have some bad apps that have memory leaks or wake locks. Use watchdog to spy on those and remove them if necessary
