A friend of mine just got a Samsung Exhibit II 4G and I'm looking around trying to see what can be done to improve it. My question, of course, is: are the roms and other data from the I8150 applicable to the Exhibit, as the Exhibit is a T-Mobile version of it?
for sure, original firmware will not work across the two phones. got incidents of people downloading wrong firmwares.
The two phones are similar in look but not the same.

compatible?
Hello, I live in Brazil, bought on a visit to the U.S., Exhibhit a Samsung T-769 T-Mobile. How do I know the hardware is compatible to the W, I installed this ROM that worked perfectly. Only two things does not work. Face recognition gives error trigger and the Kies, gives the message that this device does not support updates. Anyone know to solve?
Thank you.
That mean you install the rom for W in your SGH?
Yes, i install the rom and work very well.

No , different hardware different drivers ,
you can install TW 4 and the live wallpapers or buy an SGII
i dont think it will be long before someone ports it to the SGS 1.
it may not be an exact clone, but im sure in time the dev's will try their best.

Im not taking a risk because I can't buy a new phone for another year if something goes wrong. Besides I tried this with my Omnia II (Omnia 7 ROM) and didn't work out. The guys at the service center say that the processor "rusted" because of "water".

Can a samsung galaxy s II rom run on samsung galaxy s?
My friend one day ago has flashed the firmware from S2 in our galaxy s and the device stopped working. No reaction at all!! I try with the jig the device in download mode to set but nothing happens! Of course he didn't use the EXT4 pit. I don't know if this matters (in my opinion not) but S2 has another hardware other drivers. Now the telephone is at the service center from Samsung!
Don't try to flash the firmware ''I9100XWKDD_I9100XXKDH_I9100OXXKDC_HOME" with odin with or with out ext4 pit. you will break your phone!!!
jnks123
your friend bricked his phone because he flashed the "whole" firmware that includes the Galaxy S II bootloader which is not compatible with Galaxy S. i have a friend who flashed a Captivate rom on his Galaxy S and ended to have the same result as your friend.
you can try to extract files from Galaxy S II and flash everything except boot.bin and sbl.bin
i am not sure about zImage.
but anyway if it is not working you will not end with a bricked phone unless you install Galaxy S II's boot.bin and sbl.bin.
i'll try this when i'll get my phone from service...

Moved to General. Please keep all questions in General :good:
I think the porting will be kinda difficult since we are having a different CPU, RAM&GPU from SG2, we may need to find a lot of drivers for it, but I think some of them are not available that's why Arco needs to write them from scratch
But why dont you just use a custom ICS rom instead?

The firmware of the galaxy w has a lot of bugs while GSII not.
The galaxy sII is also better optimized and has ics.
I thought it was the kernel containing drivers for the hardware.
The galaxy s has a very similar hardware to the galaxy w.

Hi,
I am a fully satisfied Galaxy Wonder I8150 user, however - since I found an offer for the Galaxy S Advance I9070 for about 200€ - I am thinking about changing my phone.
Is there anyone who also has the I9070 and can give me any suggestion?
I am a bit worried about development: since our beloved I8150 is much more widespread, there's a lot more here than for the I9070, but it's just probably a matter of time... hopefully!
Opinions and discussions are more than welcome, thank you very much.
I have a friend who uses I9010. Although it is good from spec, and bigger screen.. But well, XDA has only few devs. Seems it is a bit minus points since many of 'em were stock-modded.
€200 off-contract? Cheap..

Re the price: 200€ off-contract, yes.
I've been watching this phone since last year and the best offers I found were 250€ at the end of November 2012, 230€ now in most of the shops. A local supermarket is going to sell it for 200€ in the next days.
So the price doesn't go down fast, but slowly it does!

Many of those ROMs were not pure AOSP/CM-based and just stock, with some mods/changes, so maybe you may expect 'bloatwares', including that useless apps etc. Well there is actually CM10.1 but it is not that reliable since mostly it is for hi-level devs (as you can see there are many bugs there including the Phone.apk (that is for the calls) so it is impossible to make calls), the BT, the Wi-Fi if I'm not mistaken. But well if you can stand that it's yours.
Also, I think the newest S4 will fit. Well its announcement is still on March 14th (15th GMT+7, if it is announced at evening in NY). And I don't think if the price would be another 200 Euros off-contract.
Again, it is your privilege to buy a new phone and leave the other. So, choose it wisely.
Maybe you can post this question to the S Advance forum so that the user of that phone can share their experience with you

Well, surely CM10.0 is not usable at this development stage... but it will probably in the future, hopefully soon!
From what you write, I got the impression that Galaxy S Advance does not (and will not?) have so much development/ROMs/etc. as for our beloved Wonder...

actually I would recommend you to buy S advance.
with the JB update, the phone is really smooth even without any custom rom or tweak.
But the only big problem is there is not much special tweaks and custom rom available for S advance. So when you are bored of stock S advance, there's nothing you can do unlike our lovely W with so many awesome devs.
Both phones have their own pros and cons. It's up to you.
Samsung Galaxy W Vs Samsung Galaxy S Advance = DRAW :highfive:

Surely Wonder has a lot more mods, roms, etc. available.
However, I also had a chance to try the S Advance and I must say it's much more comfortable just for the slightly bigger screen. The keyboard is easier, and the GPS works perfectly in Advance whereas in my Wonder takes ages to get the fix or loses it every minute....
All in all, if I had to buy a new phone, between the 2 I'd go for the Advance I think.
I choose wonder because wonder is my device

You are welcome. Don't mention it. Its you who deserve to be thanked because you are going to create something for us.
I know it is not an easy job. Take your time and bring the magic. We are waiting and we will be looking for good news from you.
Wow, thank you for your work . I have only a question: won't be more easy to port from other devices? When I was trying to port ditto note 4 ROM I found out that I wasn't able to do that because from gsmarena the only differenze seem the RAM but if you do some researchs you find out that the soc is completly different and while the galaxy s3 has an exynos processor, the galaxy s3 neo has got a Qualcomm snapdragon 400 processor. The only similar thing is the screen. I think that It would be more easy to port rom from galaxy s5 mini or galaxy grand 2 that has the same soc, the msm8226. Anyhow this doesn't mean that ypu won't be able to port this rom. I hope you successfully port the rom; good look :good:

So after many testing of replacing files and many more I cant get the s3 neo to boot up I changed so many files and just nothing I cant boot the device I searched in internet and many more but still nothing the s3 and s3 neo are different devices in many things so the ram gpu cpu and many more is different and this is why I cant get the device to boot it up I really tried but nothing
Please dont be angry, if you want, you can remove all your thanks, but I really tried to port it
This project failed

It has to be 4.4.2 version and its very easy to port it because you have just to replace boot.img and thats it but we have till now on every 4.4.2 a grand 2 ported rom
No no dude. Its just alright. You did your best but failed. I am not angry etc. You can try to port something else. Good luck
