[Q] Newest PRL - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read both here and elsewhere that Sprint has 2 sets of PRLs. One for most customers, 60683 and one for business that allows for 3G/4G roaming on VZW, 01115 or 01120. I talked with 2 Sprint techs who insist that 60683 is the newest and only PRL. I manually updated to both 01115 and 01120. I think the data speeds were better but the voice coverage was questionable. Several calls were choppy and I dropped 3 which didn't happen on 60683.
What are your thoughts/experiences on any of the 3 PRLs?
What are the latest PRLs?

Yeah 60683 is the most recent.... I've never changed my prl but I figure that 01115 would be more for people who live in desolate places.... also its more for raoming than it is for normal coverage.
Sidenote: he told you they only use 60683 because 01115 will get your contract terminated if you roam on VZW too much he did you a favor by lying

01115 wont do anything to your contract. Play dumb and then win. Pretend you don't know what a prl is. You only get in trouble with a hacked prl like 00001... otherwise you are fine on 01115. I am using that one fine. 01115 is a real sprint prl. If you roam over 300mb you can get in trouble... I just stick on sprint with 11115 but playing dumb probably will work.

Also you can't roam 4g to Verizon.

[Q] can someone rip their PRL out of their INCREDIBLE phone for me? :-)

get it? incredible phone....nevermind.
I need the latest Verizon PRL so I can roam on Verizon's tower, so if anyone know how to copy it from their phone onto the computer for me would be great. Thanks
Note: I have the HTC EVO and no service with Sprint in my area(roaming) with 1x/1bar
Soooo... would this work?

I recently posted a verizon prl , I think in Android General. You'll have to search it out. Version 52011. It is the second most recent one.
BTW I'm not sure what you're proposing will work.

there is a thread about this in the evo forum.
why not use the prl posted there?
yes i looked there and used those PRLs for the evo in the evo forums.
Really I don't know why I get 1x on ever prl I use. only difference is some PRLs give me a roaming sign and others dont...i'll search for that PRL you mention in your post, hopefully I havne used that one yet
I have the verizon/alltell hybrid prl if you'd like it.
I made a Verizon / sprint hybrid prl for my brothers evo and it works just like what your trying to do. Make sure to uncheck preferred home network while in cdma workshop or you will get roaming. If you pm me I can send you about ten different ones I had made.

I am confused... so just by flashing a different operator's prl - you can use their towers too??? Doesn't the device have to be authorized to connect to sprint as well?
Sorry to jump in but the above post is correct if your Phone's ESN isn't on Verizon's list of active ESNs all you will do is Roam.

Sprint users can hybrid with verizon and verizon users can hybrid with alltel. I had a tech switch me to a hybrid alltel/verizon prl b/c where I live is all old alltel towers and my inc wasn't using them and my service was unusable. I didn't even know what he was talking about then until months later when I started reading here.
Is it possible to make a hybrid for multiple towers 3 or more
Verizon alltel and sprint or is two the Max

Is this because sprint has a roaming arrangement with verizon? Still, very unusual... So a sprint user can flash a hybrid prl on their evo to get it to connect to verizon towers without paying roaming charges? If this is the case, why is this not all over the web? Very odd...
Verizon brought Alltel so giving inc users a hybrid to connect to alltel towers is no biggie but a sprint verizon hybrid prl is very odd. And would it work in reverse? Can i flash a prl which will allow my inc to connect to sprint towers as well just in case they are closer to me?
I'm not sure on the sprint users but when I asked him if I could get on sprint towers as well as alltell b/c sprint is best in an area I drive through, that's what he told me.
I went from 52011 to 52078. I saw higher numbers in other forums... are PRLs based off of location? Which Verizon prl is in the Verizon / Alltel Hybrid ? Any benefits of an Incredible(using Myns Warm TWOPOINTTWO) using a Sprint /Verizon Hybrid?

No matter what prl I use I stuck to 1x urrrrrrrrrg. If I lay my phone down it will go to evdo_a with 2 bars. I live in rural. No Sprint coverage on the map but I think its coverage here. It says 3g roaming on their site. This is frustrating

No 3G data roaming on Frozen 1.2.0

So we are out on vacation and I can't get a 3G signal. I am using Syndicate Frozen ROM but my wifes unrooted phone gets 3G. It does work within the Sprint network but not when in roaming. Any fix for this? I also can't update my PRL here. Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I believe that the unrooted stock rom erroneously reports 3g no matter what data signal it is receiving. Have you/she ever seen it not report 3g?
Have you run a speed test on your wife's unrooted phone. She might not be getting 3G either. Most Sprint smartphones will only display 3G as the network you're on no matter what it really is (sometimes 1x, a 2G technology!).
If she is getting at least 300kbps then she does have 3G. To get yours to work on it you need to manually update your PRL.
The attached 11114 PRL has 3G roaming nearly everywhere
Will 11114 still work wen my current PRL is 60680? Also my wife does not have a speed tester app on her phone however she is able to load things faster than I am.

It doesn't matter which PRL you are currently on, if you do what it says in the link you will get 11114 PRL.
However, Sprint will roll you back to 60680 you don't freeze system updates, which you can do with Antek Application manager (in the market).
So with 11114 will sprint be complaining of roaming like on 00001 or be just fine.

If you go over 300mb while roaming it certainly is a possibility. You can still do that without this or the 00001 prl. Usually they only get mad if they notice you aren't using the sprint network at all anymore or if you do 1gb+ roaming per month.
Well as an update I never had the chance to change my PRL and give it a shot. I figured it wasn't worth making the wife mad at me for messing with my phone while we were on vacation. I still would like to know why this happened. I almost never go anywhere that I don't have the Sprint network. Thanks for the help anyways everyone!!

PRL Update

I just got a PRL update automatically pushed to my phone. I am now at 60683. On Evo I always had to manually check for updates so that was kinda cool.
Anyone else get this?
I got this update too. Was just about to make a thread and saw yours. I'm at 60683 and oddly have signal now in my office at work (which I never have). Not getting my hopes up yet, I will conduct a few more tests but I can at least say that for now, it seems to be giving me better signal from the new PRL
Yeah I got mine yesterday (well lastnight) Have not noticed anything different with this one though as of yet.
I'm currently on 61081 and I'm updating now to see if anything changes.
EDIT: Just upgraded to 61083. outside columbia, sc here.
That PRL should only affect Puerto Rico.
11/16/11: Sprint Releasing National PRLs Ending in xxx83
Sprint will release PRLs ending in xxx83 to servers starting Wednesday, 11/16/11. These PRLs will be released to drive additional cost savings for Sprint in Puerto Rico markets. There's no customer impact.
Sprint will proactively push the PRLs to subscribers with push capable handsets/PDAs. Subscribers with Mobile Broadband devices will need to accept the PRL update prompt via Smartview to receive the release.
I just manually updated to it and now my data hardly works anymore. Hmmmm.
At least so far ...
EDIT: it eventually got back up to regular crap data speeds. w00t!

manually upgraded and im in california
I manually updated mine, but my reception is really good anyway
I'm in class so I can't manually udpate atm, but I did notice that mine's on 60681. I wonder if this PRL solves the LoS bug that is related to roaming.
I'm sorry, maybe i'm dumb, but why would a roaming agreement affect your radio?

Roaming on Verizon, with 3G Data&MMS?

I'm interested in being able to roam on Verizon, since Sprint is a POS at my school and home, and I'm constantly loosing messages, and data speeds are very sad. Anyways, I did a quick search and found a guide on changing the PRL to Sprint's "Corporate PRL" which apparently grants roaming with 3G data on Sprint, but it seems as if though that guide is old (Sept 19 from last year) and I'm not sure it'll work on my ROM (AOKP JB) So, does that guide still work? Is it safe? If no, what are my other options?
Also, how much minutes/texts/data usage would piss off Sprint? I've been meaning to switch for a while now...

I don't want to get too deep into this since there is a PRL thread in the forums, but doesn't that one force you to roam all the time? Sprint has a roaming limit of something like 200MB a month; if you go over that they can and frequently will cancel the rest of your contact. Some people do that on purpose, which I don't recommend or advise. If you just want to use your phone when you don't have much of a signal, use a PRL like 11115 along with the app Roam Control, that way you control when the phone roams.
yes.. oooo2 or w.e is a verizon prl roaming 100%.. i used the sprint corp prl i think 11124 or something which wasnt roaming while set to home only. but would have verizon 3g while in roam only with roam control which is compatible with jb now... however if using verizon eventually u will get a call from sprints roaming team.. and the prl thread is right. just need to be on a tw rom and when u go back to a aosp rom prl will stay until u update it

Indeed but i'm just going change my prl around for it. And I will be moving midwest soon
I do a lot of roaming on US Cellular with a prl that gives 3G always with great results. Sadly looks as if this deal doesn't include Oklahoma. Sprint really needs some work round here. :/

this is interesting
Question when you are roaming aint theres a limit of data that you cant exceed if not sprint will terminate your contract? Im curious in trying out these prl's I see floating around because at my girlfriend house I only get 2 bars and that roaming thing always pops up but I really dont understand anything about roaming.

These are areas which USCC has NO 4g lte coverage because they lack the spectrum to do so or it's just not profitable. Not to mention these are also markets where sprint severely needs additional spectrum... the perfect storm i suppose.

Really depends on the area you're in, but I live and work in two different states and that is the best for me in both areas. With that you wouldn't need roam control as it is a Sprint prl.
