Just installed Energy 1.11.2012 on my EVO 4G, and I was wondering if someone could tell me which apps I can uninstall from this ROM. I am talking about the apps that say you can't uninstall them like freidnstream and FB chat and stocks... I was thinking maybe another app could go under it and get rid of them.
Also, since I can't post in dev forums yet, maybe somebody knows if I can change the overall color/swipe away notifications 1 at a time like CM.
Lastly, is the stock kernel in this ROM good enough, or should I be running a different kernel?
All/any responses/links to answer posts would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,

You should be able to uninstall any apps you like. Just take the ROM zip and unzip, then go into the \data\app folder and remove what you do not want. After which, you can re-zip and then flash.
Kernel is one which chef/dev decided to use, should be good enough. You can always try flashing a different one for different results, better though?
Not familiar with CM. Maybe a theme might help for your other inquiry.
Good luck.

Root Explorer can remove any app. Just be careful about what you delete, some apps are essential for the rom to run properly.

I'm just about to finally make the switch to Cyanogen after being on Sense ROMs ever since rooting. Not sure if I'm going to go with the latest alpha with wimax this weekend or wait a little longer for CM7. Before I do, I have a few questions.
1. When doing an app restore via titanium should I do an app restore only and not app+data?
2. When doing the app restore, can I do a batch restore of all of them or should I do them individually making sure I don't select any HTC apps? I'm worried that by restoring something like 'Weather' it will cause issues in cyanogen because it's an HTC app.
3. Is it best to use the built in multimedia apps in cyanogen over 3rd party apps or does it matter? For instance I have the paid version of Mixzing and love it. I'm assuming it will work without issues in cyanogen but worry that I'm missing some great cyanogen-only features by not using the built in music player.
Thanks in advance.
Welcome to CM. I made the switch for the first time a couple of weeks ago and haven't looked back.
I'm new to this myself but I'll tell you what I've learned. As far as titanium backup goes I usually install my apps separately just to be safe. I do just the apps and then the data. I haven't had an issue doing it this way. Your HTC apps will not work in a CM rom so I wouldn't suggest trying. That will cause issues. Your third party apps should work just fine. All of the ones I use work with no issues.
The guys in the official cm threads are great. They are normally willing to help just try to read through them first to see if your question may have been answered. Good luck man. If you need help just holla I'll help in anyway I can.

Great thanks. One thing though, how do you know which apps are HTC ones? Not all of them show up in the app title. The Weather one is a perfect example.

If you delete an app via titanium backup [which I use] most of the time when you delete it it'll show like htc blah blah blah.apk, so you can try that, or search for a list of stock htc apk files. I hope that helps.
Edit: Also, your Mixzing app will work, and you can have multiple music player apps, so you can experiment to see what you like. That also goes for other apps, like multiple theme viewers, browsers, ect.
I've loved the themes that I've seen for the gmail app, but unfortunately, I have non-gmail accounts and so must use the seldom-themed, standard Mail app. Any chance somebody could do one of those black/cyan themes for me? It would be GREATLY appreciated.

Try this. Original inversion credit goes to travp624 over at rootzwiki, and the icons are mine. I use corporate email exclusively too, and run AOKP 4.0.3- it works great.
How did you install it? I threw it in /system/app (there wasn't already an email.apk) and now I keep getting an error when the phone is on that "Email has stopped"

Aha. You must be running a different rom that still has the other email apk. (called googlemail.apk or something like that.) This is only for 4.0.3 roms like aokp or similar. sorry about that. Just delete mine and push a copy of your old one back. If you don't have a backup, just pull one out of the rom you use and push it.
Yes and no. I'm using the Apex ROM on 4.0.3. Any way around this?

Honestly I'm not familiar with Apex. The OP on rootz said it was compatible with "most" 4.0.3 roms. If it's extremely important to use exchange email, AOKP is an amazing rom and the file i sent works great.
Rootz thread:

Alright, I'm still kind of new at this. Can I flash the AOKP ROM without having to re-enter all of my user data and app settings? That would be a major PITA right now.
Would Titanium Backup back up as much as I would need to? Would a Nandroid backup?
Nevermind, I ended up just going back to factory and then flashing AOKP. Loving it so far, though!

I know there have been threads with the similar titles. But either they were old or were not for my device. Now there are some who might not agree with the "not for my device" part. The thing is that I rooted my phone a few days back and managed to mess it up. Paid a good amount for repair and have not been able to use my camera since then .
But I am willing to risk it all again.
Kindly tell me, in light of your experiences, what all could I remove safely from the system apps and what all I could install to improve the performance. I removed the Email apk and have paid the price already
PS- If the moderators think my post is redundant, my apologies.

Well installing a custom recovery would be nice. While it wouldn't boost performance it will allow you to make nand backups which you can restore if something goes wrong. Also a custom ROM will increase speed over stock and you will get new features which is also a plus.

Strange that Email.apk messes up with camera.. I remove it always from the ROMs I install without further issue... But yes, as nerot says, after rooting you must install a custom recovery...
Hi, i were thinking of deleting some stock apps on my Oppo Find 7a..
Is there a list somewhere where i can see which apps that are safe to delete..?
I want to do it to cut down a little on ram and battery use..

Great question, would also like to know this information if anyone knows.
try downloading "cleanmaster security" free from playstore in the menu go into apps and it will give you a list of apps that are safe to uninstall, just do one at a time, give it a few hours or maybe half a day and then try another one, make a list as you go so you know what to restore if you have issues
Let me start out by stating this is just what I froze. Obviously I wasn't using the stock launcher so don't freeze/uninstall that if you are. I saw no major problems with all that stuff frozen. I would suggest you freeze vs uninstall that way you can unfreeze if you have problems. If I remember correctly this was on COS 2.0 beta.
Find what? Who the heck is OPPO?
Hello, I am wondering if I can uninstall any apps without making my phone crash. I think there are a lot of 'one plus own apps' to track logs and other stuff which is just not needed for me. Anyone could tell me if any of you have "debloated" your Oxygen Os? Anyone could list apps which are safe to uninstall and what these apps are for? I've been trying to find about this on the internet but had no luck, maybe you guys know? Thanks!

You can remove pretty much every oneplus app. I've removed stock dialer, message app along with every other oneplus app and replaced them with google apps. Its more up to you which ones you want to remove.
Well, yes, I understand these stock apps which have shortcuts in launcher. But I see a lot more stuff when I go in titanium backup, there are a lot of stuff like 'oemlogkitservice', 'BTtestmode', 'ANT half service' , 'keychain', 'NVBackupUI', 'ONePlusLogKit' and many more stuff. I am just not sure if I will be safe to uninstall those.
there are a decent number of threads detailing this topic.
