Hi
I got the message informing me the upgrade is available, i downloaded the file. When i tried to install it, i got a message telling me i need to have at least 25mb phone memory, i uninstalled some apps and got the memory up to 45mb but it still wouldn't update. I rebooted my phone and now i don't know how to install the update, i can see the file in my downloads but i don't know how to got about installing it. I tried to check for software updates but it keeps telling me my i'm up to date, however my firmware is 2.1. How do i get the update installer to come up again? Is anybody having the same problem? Any solutions?
Thanks in advance
Can you still see it in your downloads? Then just press it, that started it for me.
(be sure that you have a goldcard inserted if you have a debranded phone)
I can see it in my downloads through my file manager, but when i click it i just i see more files, is there anywhere else to access the downloads, i tried through the web browser but i can't see it.
By debranded phone do you mean sim free
Thanx in advance
With debranded I mean you used to have, for example t-mobile (or whatever provider you have) splash screen when booting up instead of htc. or that you had some programme's preinstalled by your provided on phone. And now have gotten rid of all that stuff by installing a clean htc rom.
As to how to get the update working, I don't know.
I solved the problem, i stopped hello fota and downloaded the update again.
Thanx a lot for your help Flaggie
It seems like ever since the market updated to google play i can't download any new apps on my phone (the force close and disappear as soon as i open them). Also, when i try to update existing apps they also force close and disappear but they end up coming back if i restart my phone. Also applications that i've had on my phone that i don't use any more I can't get rid of. I delete them and they come right back as well.
I've tried to restore my phone in tons of diffrent ways, regular factory reset, ruu, thought hboot, and htc sync. Factory reset and hboot just give me a red exclamation that i can't get around, the ruu someone told me to use didn't work i believe because the version of android i'm running and htc sync always tells me my phone isn't connected when clearly it is because i can open it up and explore it on my computer.
I'm at a loss, anyone have any ideas?
Time for a new phone?
Maybe consider rooting? I actually haven't seen a dinc with GB 2.3.4 that upgraded to google play, for some reason I've seen it stay with the market. My phone hasn't been in stock for a long time so I couldn't really say if that were true now but I know that google play was first released back in March and mid-april when I first rooted my Dinc, it was still on the android market. That being said, the dinc is far from trash if you are willing to root and flash a custom ROM to it.
I've seen this problem on ROMs when the version of gapps wasn't compatible with the ROM anymore because either the ROM was updated or gapps was updated and compatibility was lost. Usually in that situation I would recommend that person to do a fresh flash of their ROM with the newest google apps but in your case I would suggest flashing a custom ROM for the first time. if that is not an option you want to explore at this time, I believe that if you place this PB31IMG.zip on the root of your SD card (which must be formatted to FAT32) and then get into hboot it will reflash gb for you which might do the trick.

my DINC upgraded to google play when it was on stock. But really, stock sucks and has bugs. Upgrade to a real firmware listed here
Im trying to root the HTC E9+ (phone wad bought in China) to install the google apps
i unlocked the bootloader
but cant flash or even boot into recovery as no versions of twrp or cwm are available yet
Any idea where i can get it or is there any other way to install su bin ? odin ? thx
I've got the same problem...
I've got the same issue as the OP. Some more background... I got this phone (HTC E9+, aka e9pw) a few days ago in Hong Kong. Had read about the hardware and was very excited to get a new phone. Powered up OK in the shop, made calls, browsed internet etc.
I got back home and suddenly noticed that not all was as it seems. The app store icon didn't link to the Google Play Store, but some HTC Chinese only app store. Chrome wouldn't install. Lots of the google stuff is stripped out.
The problem seems to be the Chinasense UI. It is not a full Android UI, but something very stripped back. There are none of the standard google apps and things like Chrome and Google Play Services refuse to install. These limitations make this smartphone a very dumb phone.
I hope that this is just a short term issue that HTC hasn't integrated the new MediaTec chipset yet and that soon the full Sense UI will be available, until then, any help would be appreciated with rooting this thing and getting a decent phone...
If you still don't know - all google products in China forbidden!!! It never come back. Just find way how to load international version.
Hello,
I live in France and i received the Htc one e9+ this morning. I come from GN4 and i had HTC one M8 before.
Like you i'm trying to install gapps but not everything goes well.
I would like to ask you if you are as desapointed i am ?
-The phone feels really cheap
-The boomsound sounds far from HTC one m 8 quality, do you think the same ?
Xavier
@ Mozart360, from where you got e9+.
Because, this phone is only for Chinese market.
@ Arvic, I took it on ebay.com. I really thought it would be a fantastic phone.
e9+ India version seems to have all the google stuff
Personally I like the look and feel of the hardware. It is just the Chinasense UI which is disappointing. I've noticed in some of the videos for the e9+ release in India that the google apps are there. There is hope yet for this phone...
Then we must find way how to root it. I guess here in xda someone share idea how to do it...

Hi, if you just want to get all the google services, you can download an app from the HTC market named GMS which you can search it, and then you can download all the google services through this GMS app, which the data is about 180+MB. After downloading, it requires a reboot and get into stock recovery to update some package into system to get all the services running. With all this progress, you can use google services as a normal android cellphone.
But about the China SenseUI, without root, nothing can be modified. There are three switches in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml to turn on or off the China SenseUI function. As a result, without root permission, this default.xml file could not be modified, as least I have not worked out a way to modify it. So China SenseUI couldn't not be turned off. I don't know how to operate with stock recovery to modify system partition, or whether the stock recovery get the rights to modify /system partition.
ALL THE ABOVE shares to the one who is using HTC E9+ outside China.

And another thing attached, the app name is GMS安装器 in chinese, but no English name. Its icon is a green android robot with some google icons in the body of the robot. Don't get the wrong app. The app itself is only 0.05MB.
And it's very sad that the HTC Market doesn't have an English language. Try to recognize the chinese characters as I told above.
GSM works!
It works! I downloaded and installed GSM and now I have all the Google Apps. I'm pretty sure this phone now has everything I need. The process is all in Chinese so I'll give you a run down of what I did. Hopefully I can remember it all.
Go to the HTC app store and find GSM. Icon of a little green Android guy with some icons inside him. Download and install. GSM will then start to download all the apps which took me an hour or so. There is a notification with a progress bar so you know it is going ok. After the download there is a message which asks you to make sure the SD card is removed. Accept all the pop ups. Restart and hold down the volume button which goes to recovery mode. It will crunch away with some installation. When it finally boots up, all the Google stuff is there.
Thank you CPStar.

E9+
hey guys... i hav an e9+ but taiwan stock ... so evrythn is english and no xtra chinese apps ... if ne1 wants i will try to make a system dump for u guys.. but i guess GMS solves the issue for evry1.
So what are the opinions of the few that own the E9+? Pros/Cons? Battery life? Gaming performance?
I am considering this phone because IMO 5.5 inch screen is the sweet spot.

Yes, it works! Thanks @cpstar !
Only steps are different....
After downloading file via GSM, phone must switch off, then switch on by holding power botton and volume down, then must choose "reboot to bootloader mode", then reboot in recobery mode.....
But when you press "reboot in recovery mode" - actualy nothing happens.
I just swithced off phone by long hold power botton. Then switchen on and in booting time started install 27 app.
After, I tried via HTC help to check phone updates. And downloaded update, but following window it ask to "install now", after "OK" phone just two times restart and nothing happen!
After restar - again popup msg about update.
How to solve this problem?

Battery life ~ 9 hours. By using WeChat all the day, taking photos, Using Web browser. By using 4G network. If using WIFI, will be longer time ~ 12h.
Except Chinese app - I'm satisfied.
So how do we root HTC E9+ ???
Hi guys,
I've been following this thread and am planning to buy an HTC One E9+. Can Frama-root / RootGenius / Kingo Root do the job? I plan to buy it once there's a verified way on rooting the E9+ phone AND add Google apps. I understand Google apps can be added using the GMS安装器 application. So the only question now is: How do we root this phone? Tried Google and Baidu, seems nothing clear yet on how to do it. Thoughts? Please share Android experts! Thank you!

Hello
Thanks for the guide but just wondering if anyone knows where we can get the stock recovery from to do the OTA updates? Or is anyone doing updates differently rather than OTA?
Thanks
John
Sent from my HTC_E9pw using XDA Free mobile app
Hello
Im also buy HTC one M9+ , use GMS安装器 intsall all google apk but cant change blinkfeed chinese version international and sanse cant change chinese version .
HTC one M9+ have any international version offical room or not ?
I can witness that the above rooting process is working perfect for my E9+ (HK) version.
So should i get it?
So guys im thinking about getting this phone and now i know it has root and if i am correct it can function as a normal android smartphone but i do have 2 questions I'd love to be answered. 1 can you install google play and download apps from it? And 2) what roms work on it (if any)?
I bought this phone in Dubai and it has Play Store and Chinese senseUI stuff. My question is, after doing the above rooting process, will it be possible to update or no ?. There is an update available, I haven't rooted and haven't updated yet
I have the dual sim version. Does this method work with it ?
Hi everyone !
First time posting on xda forums.
I bought on Friday a moto 360 1rst gen. I tryed to update it, but i have some errors messages.
Occasionally I got a notification that says "Can not download the update. The space is not sufficient to download the system update"
When I go into the settings to start the update manually, another message appears "insufficient space".
I rebooted several times the watch and uninstalled the application android wear (I also tested with an older version).
I tried this on my main phone (Note 4) and another (xperia z1 compact) but the notification and error message always appear.
When I put the watch in charge and remove it another message appears "Charge your watch to receive update MEC231". I put the watch in charge and I see the android wear application downloading something in the data options. When the watch is charged to 100% I remove it from the base to start the update but the same message appears that says charge your watch althought the watch is at 100%. I left the watch an afternoon and an evening on the base, when I removed it the message "insufficient space" appeared again in the update options.
I do not know what to do repair the problem. Could you help me please ?
OS version is 4.4.w.2, android wear 1..0.1.1526154 and google play services 8..4.89
Sorry for my english :silly:
Same things for me...
Moto 360 G1 with 2 days of life.
Same FW and Android Wear versions.
I've also tried to install an old version of Android Wear but no way to let him download the firmware.
I've also tried with an old Smartphone with 0 app (so it doesn't sync)...Same Thing
I've reset him contless times but no way.
Any suggestion is appreciated
Try updating by following this procedure:

Hi thanks for replying =)
I already done this procedure on two different phones but doesn't work :/
But to besure, when it says "delete the lastest version of Android Wear on your phone", that means uninstal android wear from the phone ?

Yes, delete the latest Wear app on phone and install older one from apkmirror.
Ok thanks^^
But that's what i've done but doesn't work.
I think i should return the watch to see what's happening.
Thanks a lot for help :good:
Think I'm on the same boat.. I tried this procedure last night a couple times with different phones and didn't seem to get it to work just keep getting the same msgs and notification saying couldn't download update not enough space. Just brought the watch last week brand new..
I've also tried different things but the problem persist.
I've also tried with a smartphone with Android 5.1 and an old Android Wear Apps (June 2015 1.1.1.....) but nothing.
Reading this post https://plus.google.com/communities...9/stream/b5bc95e0-4396-4569-b121-d88ff15986fb seems that Motorola know the issue and in few days will resolve the problem.
Not so good for a Watch with 2 days of life...
So maybe the problem will get fixed? It's annoying... I dont think I even experienced all the watches features
I think so, we just have to wait a few days...
Okay thanks for information
Hope they will fix it.
I've unpaired and reset my watch. Repaired. Now it's going to download the update.
Inexplicable... Or maybe Motorola has worked hard...
Ok i'll try the same.
Edit : Yeah it's working !!!! thx Dimoz =)
Edit 2 : I talked too fast, now i have "[public] full ota to LCA44b" error message.
Do not feel bad. I have factory reset my watch 3 times, each time, the watch will download the new update. Be at 100% battery, yet still tell me either an error has occurred or charge watch before installing (again it is at 100%). At this point, I will wait
Mine is in its box while I contemplated to return it or not so when I get home I am going to give this another try
I charged it fully and went into settings and update. And it updated. It updated to android 5.1.1 is that the most up-to-date?
Same for me, finally get updated to 5.1.1
The latest version is 6.
I'm waiting for this update.
Mine has first update to 5.1.1.
Then i've reset the device. paired and already checked for update (always under charge) and it has found the 6.0.1 update.
Update and reset. Current version 6.0.1 build MEC23I
Now, actually, is an usable smartwatch!
I will give it a chance
Same it worked out. Im very surprised but they seem to have fixed the issue for sure.
