[Q] Juggernaut v4.1 [Vultures Edition][Team Kang][12.27.2011] - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

My HDMI adapter does not work on this ROM. Is there a work around?
Which bluetooth keyboards are popular with this ROM?

make sure you have the correct MHL to HDMI adapter, it's not just any microUSB to HDMI
i only use the onscreen keyboard, don't like to carry an extra keyboard with me

The adapter works on a few ROMS as well as stock ROMS. There is something about this ROM that is flawed. Could this be a setting.

It works fine for me, there is no setting. What ever is on your phone is on your TV. And like AG said you need the MHL adapter.

Would you mind telling me what mhl adapter you have? I have the minotek brand, and it cuts in and out when I'm displaying on my TV. I'm hoping it's because I got a cheap adapter, but am worried something is wrong with the micro usb port on my phone.

I have an official Samsung MHL adapter. Works fine on Juggernaut, though it's a bit wonky getting detection to work in the first place. Sometimes have to unplug various cables and plug them in again to get it to detect.

Thanks - I think I'll get an OEM one and see if it resolves my issue. Thanks again!

Mine is no problem. This rom has long life battery than the other one I has used.

Can't get it to work. I will reflash this rom. Does the Bluetooth keyboard work with this rom?

MHL Adapter for Nitro HD

Now for all you Nitro HD users who didn't know that it is possible to stream video through the Micro USB port, well yes you can That port is actually a MHL port (Mobile High-def Link), which combines both Micro USB and HDMI features together, and all you need is a MHL adapter to connect your phone to your HDTV and stream movies while having your phone charged.
Now my question goes to those who know about these things. Any idea which MHL adapter is compatible with this phone, or can we use any adapter from any maker? And also, has anybody tried using the MHL capability on this phone?
Well, one would think it wouldn't be proprietary based on the fact that all MHL enabled phones use this as a standard now. I have used a MHL cable from an HTC Raider on a Galaxy S II and it worked just fine.
Does anyone else hear a slight grinding/grainy noise when you plug in the Micro USB? It always makes me feel like I'm breaking it.
any mhl adapter should work.
i use the mhl adapter from samsung infuse and it works! but remember to plug in power for it to works.

plug in power? what do you mean? I thought the whole idea behind mhl is that your phone will get charged via hdmi while streaming through it.

I think if the tv supports mhl mode then you don't need to plug in power.
If tv just has hdmi port then you need to plug in power.
The mhl adapter has microusb port for power input.

Which one and where?
Mine should be arriving on Thursday - just grabbed one of the many off amazon...
So my bro got me an Accell MHL adapter for Christmas and I'm finding it doesn't work with my phone. It doesn't even provide a charge. I'm thinking its physical dimensions are such that the connector into the phone doesn't go in far enough (kinda LG's fault for making the port recessed, kinda their fault for making the connector so damn fat). So, if you guys find one that works for cheap, do you think you could hit us with a link?
TL/DR, Accell's doesn't work, please post ones that do

it needs power for mhl to works. did you try to reboot the phone after you plug in mhl and power input for mhl? i tried on samsung infuse mhl adapter and it works!
Yeah, I provided power and performed every possible sequence of hooking it all up that I could think of and also rebooted several times. I really think it's the form factor of the Accell connector combined with our slightly recessed port that causes it to not go in far enough. I just need someone to give me a suggestion of a brand to buy that they know firsthand works well with our P930.

It looks like that item is no longer available. I'm ordering B005NTHXYY, it's $9.19 and Prime eligible.
I can confirm that the MHL adapter that came packaged with the Samsung Infuse works great with the Nitro.

You should not have to start anything, make sure you have power to the MHL adapter, plug it in to the phone , make sure the TV's input is set correctly, and plug it in to the TV ... If that does not work , either the ROM you are using is broken, the MHL adapter is broken, the HDMI cable is bad, or the TV input is broken, or some combination there of ......
Wow I didn't even notice this phone didn't have an HDMI settings tab my POS g2x had a few options haha just saying

Can you use a micro hdmi cable?

I know you can buy the mhl adaptor but i recently purchased a generic adaptor and it has been losing signal several times, i heard it's a common issue for generics. So i want to see if a micro hdmi cable will work, and if doesnt work, can anyone recommend me some good mhl adaptor that's pretty cheap

Micro HDMI is just a tiny HDMI snapped the same pretty much needs an actual port. Mhl is the only way it works for yhe sgs2

I know there's two hdmi cables for phones, there's a micro hdmi and a mini hdmi but since the s2 uses a micro usb port, then the micro hdmi should work right?
Well, I just received my micro hdmi for my SGSII and it is not working. I connected it to my TV and laptop and it is a fail. Tried to go the cheaper route but am gonna end up spending more in the long run because now I have a micro hdmi that is useless to me
Thats the one I was thinking of the mini I have one and it doesn't fit haha it Wade for my g2x

You can only use the MHL adapter for HDMI output, Micro HDMI is a totally different port and everything.
completely unrelated but i was wondering why when using MHL on our phones, surround sound does not work. im guessing its hdmi 1 format?
I read a few comments regarding some mhl adaptors. Some say plug the power source first then the tv then the phone. And others say you may need to change the HDMI cable. Just try different combinations and try a different tv.

thanks i will try that. it cant be the hdmi cable, because its the same one i use for xbox and i get surround sound from there.

[Q] MHL Adapter not working

I bought an MHL adapter from amazon and i connected it to my tv and it doesn`t work. I connected it to power, Ive rebooted my phone several times and still couldn't get it to work.
Any suggestions?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
hmmm if everything is plugged in.. it should be detected right away... could it be a rom or kernel issue? undervolted kernel might cause problems because welll not enough volts obviously. a couple weeks back using faux kernel.. i couldn't use anything below -25 volts to keep a steady display.
I've had the same problem running non stock roms and kernels. My buddy has a stock SGS2 tried it worked, tried mine nothing. Try going back to stock or at least a stock rom. I just ordered my MHL adapter and are currently running Mr. X stock rom with darkside kernel, when i get my shipment ill report back. Hope this helps.

Ive tried going back to the stock rom but had no luck.
My tv seems to recognize that something is plugged in, it just wont display properly. I reset the settings on my tv but that didnt work either. Hmmmm

As simple as turning on & off the tv.
I bought a cheap mlh adapter and a cheap hdmi cable from ebay and had neither the phone or the tv recognize each other. The solution was to plug in the power to the mlh adapter first, then plug it into the phone second; then turn the TV on with it switched to the correct hdmi source and finally, plug the hdmi cable into the mlh adapter. But sometimes I still have to sleep(standby screen) the phone and wake it before it work even with this method. I tried plugging and unplugging these components a few different ways but this was the one that work for me and has continued to work every time. Hope this helps.
Try plugging everything in, then rebooting your phone while it's hooked up to your tv.
Ive tried everything i can think of. Mabey the adapter is bad.

get the monoprice adapter, good and inexpensive.. unless you got it from there.. probably bad adapter lol
Easy to check
I would try plugging the power cord into the mlh adapter then into your phone, if you get power to the phone it might suggest that your hdmi cable is the culprit. If you get power to your sgs2 then I would try switching out the hdmi cable with another to rule out the cable as the bad egg. If both the mlh adapter and the cable test good then one last test would be to switching out which hdmi port you are using by changing the cable to another hdmi port. The last check is unlikely but I am just trying to cover all the bases.
This is just my two cents but sending back products tend to increase cost and adds up quickly. I tend to try every available avenue before returning products. The comment about Monoprice selling this adapter is right on, as this where i got mine for dirt cheap. Good luck with what ever you decide.
need any and all the help i can
I have a samsung galaxy s infuse 4g ... and a sony brava tv... i have bought 2 mhl adapters and 2 hdmi cables .. hooked them up in as many orders as possible as well as turning the phone off and on but still nothing does anyone have any sugestions to help make this work ???
Sounds crazy but if all else fails.
You could use the og adapter. I found on samsungs website http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EIA2UHUNBEGSTA
And i check if your phone the Infuse was compatible which it is. Last ditch effort take the phone and the adapters to your retail store and see if they can get them to work. Sorry, if these suggestions are not better than my above comments, but I can't think of any other measures to try. Hope you get the problem solved.

Samsung original OTG card reader.

Just got it for 15USD.
I've tested on GN.
Main function:
1. Standard USB port for USB drive/mouse/keyboard
2. TF(micro SD) socket
3. Standard SD socket
4. micro USB power in.
It's not original. It's just designed for Samsung compatible phones.

Guys, I have a question a little bit off topic here.
It is possible to use a keyboard with Gnex using an USB OTG adapter?
And if it is possible to connect the Gnex in the display using the HDMI adapter, while the keyboard is plugged through the OTG adapter. trying to make it easy: gnex plugged in HDMI adapter, HDMI to the display, in the connector that we usually plug the charger I will plug the OTG cable with the keyboard in it.
If this works the battery will run out fast as hell, but I don't know if is possible to do it.

Yes it is possible to use any usb device via otg.
No you can not have HDMI adapter and OTG at the same time.
Bluetooth is your best bet. I got a logitech bluetooth keyboard and mouse made for tablets and have a nice case for the keyboard that turns into a stand for your tablet and phone. Also if you have bluetooth on your pc like i do, i use it for that too
Here is the keyboard I got: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Tabl...501&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+android+keyboard
Mouse: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Tabl...501&sr=8-2&keywords=logitech+android+keyboard
Why did you post this without a link to where you got it? I don't see this card reader for sale anywhere when I searched for it.
These are my thoughts on OP.
Thanks man. I'm avoiding bluetooth stuff. Too many things to charge in the end of the day. So far I was able to connect a mouse and a keyboard to the gnex using the OTG cable and an USB hub. I'll lock for a workaround to this, maybe a USB display or something like that.

I have the same doubtful question with this guy. Just like the ninth poster has said, we can not have HDMI adapter and OTG working at the same time. What about someday there is an another HDMI output on the device ?
