I have setup a Vpn connection on my Galaxy Nexus, but now I always have to enter a password to get in the phone,no more slider... Can I keep my vpn connection and don't have to unlock the phone by pin?

Apparently with ICS comes the forcing of a screen lock when you have a VPN, installed cert, or Exchange setup.
I have a cert installed which forces a lock screen, so i would like to know how to get around this as well.
Thanks.
I would also like to know this. It is very annoying...

Hy,
I wrote an application that can connect to a PPTP VPN Server
without having to use PIN or Pattern :
PPTP VPN Manager
i would love that too, in S5 it forces you to back to PIN or password if enabled the VPN, so the whole fingerprint feature is gone!! anyone has an idea how to get around this? android 4.4 samsung galaxy S5

need some help with VOIP and the samsung galaxy S2.. I am trying to set up a secure vpn. VyprVPN so that i can use my sip client with my tel. provider over 3g. in my case Telia.. Sweden. but they seem to block all ports having to do with Sip.. and voice over IP.. has anyone got any solution to work.. using encrypted tunnel. like with VyprVPN.. I get VyprVPN to work but when connection over 3g.. I get no connection at all. Only on wifi..
any help would be really great I am so lost on this matter
Are you sure that vyprvpn is working? What I found is that the phone would say that it had connected to vyprvpn but would stop working after about a minute.
This is a known problem on the current versions of android. VPN is fubar.
If you go to enable VPN, it requires you to set a lock on your phone. Is there a way around this or a mod you can do if you are rooted to bypass this?
This is also driving me nuts.
I don't know if SecureSettings Tasker plugin supports ICS, but if it does, I can imagine a Tasker profile that enables lock right before you about to connect via VPN.
yeah, it's crazy. i don't even want to save my vpn password, so why should I be forced to use the secured cred. storage?
the only way I found so far is to delete the vpn after using it an re-entering when you need it. My admin loves it, I hate it.
Anyone know of a way to be able to use VPN without having to enter a lockscreen password? The best I can do is set a time of 30 minutes before it requires a password or pin code to unlock my phone.
I realize this is a security function, but one I don't need. My VPN is only to remote print to my home printer with no file access.
NM: found VPNroot, it solved my issue.
Hello everyone, I'm asking this because I can't really find anything related trough the forums. I'm using a wireless router to share my university connection, and it requires a VPN username and password for autentication. I configured the VPN on my Galaxy W, and it works fine for the first 2 minutes, and then stops receiving data, and I have to manually disconnect from the vpn, turn off wi-fi and then make the exactly opposite for it to start working again. I don't know what is wrong, because I have configured my flatmate's android devices exactly the same way and they can connect to the same wireless network for as long as they want.
I have tried CM9 and CM10 to see if it would make any difference, but the same thing happens.
If anyone using a VPN to connect to the internet could give me some advice I would really appreciate it.
Cheers.
Hi all, I have a Nexus 7 (2013).
I tried today connecting to a Hotel Network, one that requires you to sign in, put a password before using it.
As soon as I connect to the network, the little notifications that says Sign into Network briefly appears, and then disappears, leaving me no way to sign into the network.
I try to open Chrome, check email but nothing, I don't get connected to the network.
Any ideas on how to fix that.
On the same hotel, I joined the network with my phone - Nexus 4 - and was asked to join and sign in without any problems.
Thanks in advance
Did you try setting up the access point in Settings? in the WiFi settings, press the + icon and enter the AP name in the Network SSID box, in the Security box select WPA/WPA2-PSK, enter the password and save it. Then press and hold the new entry you just created and select "Connect to network".

It won't connect unless the SSID is set to broadcast on the router stupid android
I also had to lower the security setting on my router in order to connect to it, find the Mac address then raise the security setting back to normal.
IMO this isn't acceptable idk why they feel the need to hide the Mac address, why they can't show it on the first initial setup screen

Congested wifi areas are inevitable. This happens to me when my router at home has more than 8 devices. Turn off 1 and I have room for my Nexus.
