I think these issues started after I rooted and unlocked the bootloader, though I can't remember.
I originally turned off haptic keyboard feedback but then decided to try again the other day. It doesn't matter what the setting is in keyboard options, there is no haptics. I can still feel the phone vibrate when I unlock it or get a message though.
And I'm not sure how I lost the CRT screen-off animation. Any ideas on how I can get it back?

For the screen off animation, go to Developer options in Settings and set the Windows animation scale to "Animation scale 1x". See if that helps.
same here except I'm not rooted or anything

Thanks, that was the problem with the crt screen off effect.

Great, thanks. I was messing around in Dev options, thought I had reversed everything though.
Still don't have any keyboard haptics though, any ideas?

Download agile lock from market, or something like that

you can change the lockscreen wallpaper by going into settings / display / screen display. There is a section for the lock screen. Just click on wallpaper and you can change it. Took me a while to figure that one out.

Looking to replace the lockscreen myself, but in the meantime you can at least change the image on the stock lockscreen by going into the gallery, selecting an image, hit menu->Set As->Lock screen wallpaper
better than nothing!
got it thanks
I used to use WidgetLocker on my Desire when it was still running Sense. It worked generally well. Sometimes it would clash with the Sense lock screen and I had to go through the Sense lock screen after the WidgetLocker lock screen. Though most of the time it worked fine. Maybe it wont have any problem with the Touchwiz lockscreen.

Try Ripple Lock, it's a Honeycomb lock with a single pulltab in the middle. It will replace your lockscreen without root, there is even an option to fix double lock (Galaxy S issue), you will need to enable mode 2.
here's what is looks like.....
I'm using widgetlocker. Put it on my phone about 5 seconds after turning it on. Has been working perfect with no issues.

I have a passcode enabled and my lockscreen is only the screen where you are suppose to enter the passcode. How would I make the lockscreen be a normal lockscreen where I have to slide to unlock and then enter my passcode?
Ditto...WidgetLocker for me as well. Simple quick and easy.
I use lockbot.

Hey everyone,
So while the guy at the sprint store was activating my Optimus G I noticed awesome screen off animation. Now that its a couple days later and all my settings are set up, home screen ect. I noticed that the screen off animation is none existent, it just shuts off like a normal screen. I looked everywhere in the settings to see maybe if I disabled it but cant find it anywhere. Is there something I did by accident or am I missing something here?? Any advice would help.
Thanks for your time,
Tim

Its actually really simple go to the lock screen settings and select which screen effect you want.
Yep what he said ^ Under Lock screen/screen effects. Dewdrop is pretty badass. This is just another feature I love about LG's UI.

Screen off animation. Not screen unlock animation.

Edit: Just kidding maybe it doesn't. So in that case OP, idk how to help you lol.

Thanks for this, wondered what had happened to mine also...strange this would affect it with such a power house lol. Ohwell I like the way my G feels with them set at .5 but good to know.
Hi,
I was using Google Chrome on my G3 (v5.0, not rooted) and when I opened a link in a new tab nothing happened, I don't remember if an animation used to happen showing a tab in the bottom opening in the background but this animation is present on the Nexus 5 and on my rooted LG Nitro HD (flashed with CM for v4.4.4).
And when I press the square button to see the running apps I don't see my newly opened tab at the very beginning then directly it appears.
Tried clearing Chrome's cache and rebooting my phone nothing changed.
Can you try it and help if it's a problem?
Thanks,
Wow. I would return the phone right now.
Huge flaw.

Thanks for not helping, I didn't complain anywhere in my post, but seeing this animation not working made me think about other animations maybe not working or a decrease in the smoothness of my phone.
Go to settings, access Developer options, check these: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator duration scale. These are your animations, check if some are off.
If you cant access Developer options, go to about phone and click 7 times on your Build number. After that you will be able to access Developer options.

Thanks a lot man! The Window animation scale and Transition animation scale were both off! I had Developer options enabled but I never ever messed with them... I suspect it's the battery saving feature because when it's enabled all animations are turned off so maybe it was a bug and they were not enabled after it. I didn't think about checking developer options and I started clearing all caches of chrome, home, systemui, reinstalling chrome and wasting my time.. so thank you, a G3 with no animations isn't the same
Just flashed Android M final version from factory image, try the method (long tap on Settings gear) for System UI Tuner, but nothing happens...
Any idea?
It took me several tries to get it to work. I finally went to settings to see if I missed the message, but I didn't. Once I did it once from the settings screen it worked.

Probably the animation is disabled in developer option. Enable it and reboot.

Yes, i disabled the animation...i hope that's the reason...i am not have the tab with me right now, so can't try immediately.
Thanks!
Google is hiding everything from users as usual.
System UI tuner is nowhere to be found on Nexus 7 by default even under developer options. It just doesnt exist!
In order to enable System UI tuner on your Nexus 7 in the first place you have to long tap settings icon and then you get message "congratulations, system UI tuner has been enabled"
Enjoy!
BTW, there is no vertical app drawer by default on Nexus 7 either! You have to download "Google Now Launcher" app from Google Play/ Carefully read notifications once you open this app, it is asking if you want to transfer all icons on your current homescreen to new one or start from scratch

the animation was the trick...or the bug?
Anyway, it's working now.
I am unable to get this to activate. I went under develop options to check the animation settings. All I see is: window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale. All 3 are at 1x. Any thoughts?
im using a note 3 running resurrection remix android 6.0.1 and i am also unable to enable system ui tuner. Developer options is turned on, animations are turned on as well, but the gear will not spin and i cannot get the toast message no matter how many times i try to press and hold the button. Please help.
my t-mobile galaxy note 5 just updated to Marshmallow, and i am not able to enable the system ui tuner. any help ?

let me know if you get any answers.
I have the same problem. Doesn't work.
With Cyanogenmod 12.1 (latest smapshot) my problem is the same. The cog keeps spinning around and stops when I don't touch it anymore. Is it possible to edit some config file to activate the System UI Tuner? Or isn't there any Sytem UI Tuner in the Cyanogenmod releases at all?
Heinz
^It does the same in CM13 on my i777. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything because those settings are already available in CM.
sorry, wrong phone
How is this SOLVED? I am having the same problem on a non rooted Samsung galaxy s5. And this did not explain why it is not working or how to get to the system ui tuner. I've tried everything, but the gear doesn't spin at all. And in all the pics I've seen, none of them have hardware buttons like the galaxies do, they've always been the buttons on the screen, the back button, the home button, and the menu button.
I am using asus zenphone 2 laser 5.5.....
I can't enable the system ui tunner...
I tried all the way what are clearly shown above.
Any one help me

Touchwiz removed the settings with one of its updates. There is no current access to the System UI.
Recommend removing the SOLVED part of the title, so as to not confuse anyone searching for solutions.

Unfortunately it may not be a universal fix. Decided to share just in case it might work for anyone else
When clicking on an app in the Play Store I do not get the usual animation to transition into the app's page. It will just snap to it without any animation at all. I had noticed this the first day I got my Pixel but thought maybe Google just made it this way for this phone. But now my friend told me that no, it's not normal, because he has the usual animations when clicking on an app. Here's a video of what I'm talking about:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Dp2qRui0u0UzZXcmIwZWYzaGs/view?usp=drivesdk
Does anyone know anything about this? Will ask Google support if not.
Thanks!
Edit: A factory reset fixed it. So weird.. thanks everyone!
Did you enable Developer Options and tweak animation speeds? I confirmed that I see the animation. The app's icon floats up and the rest of the app page animates in.

Animation speeds have always been set at the stock 1x
Have you tried turning off animations in the developer options, rebooting then turning them back on to 1x just to see if that kicks something loose.

Just chatted with Google support wasn't very helpful. Basically I was told I'd be sent an email to escalate it to a specialist team or something.
