I know that many of you use the app light flow to control you led notification colors, but I'm trying to avoid using it as it drains battery power.
I noticed that when I get an email from Facebook, my led turns blue (no Facebook app installed) and I just received an email from eBay which turned the led green. I haven't seen any others except the white notification.
Does anyone have a list of stock led colors that don't require extra apps?

I've seen red, green, blue, and white.
All my Google Voice txts has been green.

Is there a way to get the notification light to blink all the colors it gives me as far a options b/c it only blinks red & no other colors? I have went through the stock text app, handcent, email to change the settings but they all blink as red.
I tested this yesterday and recommend Light Flow from the market.. there is a lite version that's free and you can test out the LED light. We only have Red, Blue, and a combination of both of them that looks like Magenta. You have to set it to Green in the app for Magenta..
I saw another post on this, but couldn't get it to blink at a regular rate. No matter how I changed the flash led setting, it would stay lit for a long time and eventually blink, only to resume again. Do you have settings that allow it to flash quicker?
Thanks.
I tried the light flow app which it worked to get the light to flash but none of the colors worked but some how it disabled my email notification light.
Happy Holidays everyone!
I've read through some of the older threads on how to control out LED notification light using Lightflow and Blink and found that there are only 3 different settings:
Red: red LED, slow blink/constant on
Blue: blue LED, slow blink/constant on
White: red LED, fast blink (most useful in my opinion for notification)
Has anyone been able to get their LED to flash purple yet (besides during reboots)? This will require the red and blue LEDs to be on simultaneously but I've played all day in Blink and Lightflow and have not been able to do this. If you have, please let me know what program you're using and what settings you have.
Thanks everyone!
You have to use green for purple. Weird, but that's how it works

Sad - I wasn't able to get the purple LED by selecting green in Lightflow or Blink. Anyone else successful?f
Sounds like something that could be done using tasker, but I wouldn't know the codes.
There are some apps which send me notifications to the notification bar, but they don't allow any LED configuration, so I have to turn the screen on to see them. Is there any app to set up LED alerts?

Not really sure what you mean, but you could try LightFlow. Within the app you can configure different LED notification colors to different apps (i.e. blue for gmail, green for gtalk, etc).
Using lightflow on a stock unrooted GNex. Gives me the notification led i need. I have set the colors different for each particular app that gives notifications so i know which is which
I never noticed this until the lastest update, but the LED changes different colors for different notifications. Voice mail gets a green , Facebook gets a blue,etc..I remember my phone use to light up a rainbow color.. anyone noticed these changes?

May be someone that can clarify your answer... all I know is that I use Light Flow to change the color of the notifications.

Which update? Carrier or XDA?

The blue notification comes from the 1.9 update of the Facebook app. I don't use Voicemail, so I can't comment on that. SMS notifications are white (whitish) by default, can't change that without 3rd party hacks.
I configured Whatsapp though, to give green notification light, but you could change that to anything else in the app settings.
If you want more options for other apps, use an app like lightflow, although personally I don't like it, never worked reliable for me.

The led has always been different colors, depending on your apps. Nothing new.

I have Android 4.0.1, yakjuux, Galaxy Nexus from Fido.
So far, my LED light has never lit up when I get a Whatsapp message. There's an option for light color in the Whatsapp settings menu, but it doesn't seem to work. I don't feel I need to download third party apps (light flow) in order to make the built-in LED of the phone to work. Shouldn't the notification LED work out of the box, without any tinkering?
Anyone else have this issue?
Seems normal. Have u rooted? CM9 nighties now has great support for led color notifications
My led was never lighting up for some reason until I started using Light Flow. I can't understand why would they give us a nice multi-color led and not use it nicely. And my god have I missed the charging orange led and charged green from htc.
I'm also using Light Flow and it works great, otherwise not so much with stock but the LED has always been a tri colored led.

Normal for the LED not to work, even thought Whatsapp has an setting for it? That seems ridiculous.
My phone is not rooted, and I don't think I'd have to in order to make this LED to work. Why even put one on the phone if it doesn't work???

So far, I haven't noticed any different colours on my GN. It would be great if it comes through the official update. Else CM9 shouldn't be far away anyways
I thought the GNex had an LED that at least lit up when charging. Mine didn't, so i took the phone back to the Sprint store. They thought is would have one, too, so they gave me a new one. Well, this new one doesn't have it either.
Now I'm wondering if there is no LED on the Sprint GNex. I get no LED notifications at all. Is this normal?
Have someone send you a gtalk message.
LED -> confirmed.
It is extremely limited. Use something like Light Flow to take full control over it.
But does it light up when you plug your phone in and it is charging?
No, hence my extremely limited comment
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.chatchatmeow.gnl or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.chargingLED for your fix, the Nexus doesn't do it stock.

The LED is basically worthless without an app like Light Flow. It pretty much doesn't light up for anything when stock.
it lights up for missed calls and text notifications when screen is off.
use light flow or galaxy nexus LED apps in the market

On stock rom the light blinks blue for new text (handcent), green for new Google voice mail, white for new Gmail and calls.
Then if you want more you can install light flow or similar.
But no, there is no charging light.
