To root my 'glorious' SGS2, i used the methods posted at:
www.galaxys2root.com
Which I should have nandroid a back up of my system BEFORE i rooted..
Anyway.. Every forum, and every 'how-to's shows how to get back to stock if you had a T989UVKID, but nothing if you have a T989UVKL1.. In other words, I purchased my Samsung Galaxy SII from T-Mobile with the T989UVKL1 already installed.
There is a thread in this very forum, howbeit in the developers section HERE with an image of the T989UVKL1 that you can download and Odin back to stock using the image in the PDA field, however it doesn't get rid of the CWM.. or does it?
Has anyone rooted, then decided (for what ever reason, non-important) to un-root and return back to COMPLETE stock T989UVKL1????
Does the Odin way with the image work like as if I was just turning on the phone for the first time? I also know that the stock kernal would need to be reflashed.
Any help un-rooting for those who purchased a T989UVKL1 phone from the start, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks..
Yes, itll be back to how it was when you bought it. And it removes cwm and puts in stock, everything. Factory reset within the phone, when it reboots and does its thing.. Wait for the animated bootscreen. Not the first splash screen. Remove battery, then odin flash that file from your link. You will have to unrar it, get your odin ready and have your phone in download mode. Put the file in the pda section. Then flash away. Only reason to factory reset first is because it just overwrites the system files and adds your stock recovery keeping all user apps, but if you want a fresh clean install like nothing happend unless you had custom roms, i think your binary will have how many times you flashed custom when you get into download mode on the phone.

Gave my epic 4g to my 15 year old cousin, she forgot the pin after enabling the security feature, and her Dad decided to try to bypass it by going into CWM 3.0.0.6. I honestly am not sure exactly what he did, but now it will only show the samsung logo when it is turned on. I figured the phone just wiped itself, inserted another micro sd after putting the final version of sfr (syndicate frozen rom) on it (already installed before the current brick) and reflashed the rom. The screen indicated that the flash was successful, but the phone still appears to be in bootloop. If this has been covered already I appoligize, but I haven't had the phone for a while and haven't kept up with it's development. Any help would be appreciated. I thought about reflashing it with odin, but after my pc crashed a while back I couldn't figure out which program I was missing to get my computer to open and use the program.
Go back into CWM and do a Factory Data reset and then flash the ROM. If it still doesn't boot then follow this thread to Odin it back to Froyo stock:

I did the factory reset before reflashing sfr, so I'm going to follow the odin link. Appreciate the help.
Yea, just odin back to ec05. After which, u probably get an update alert for ei22 and then el30. Its not hard to root them, just takessome time.

Just bought an s3 and the owner put AOKP rom on it rooted the works. I do however want to start off completely fresh on Touchqiz and learn how to root and all of that myself. How would I go about doing this? When I factory reset in settings, it just goes back to stock AOKP.
Thanks!

You will want to use Odin to flash a stock firmware. Or, you can do two steps in one and use Odin to flash a pre-rooted stock image, so you can get the experience of returning to stock and rooting your device yourself all at the same time!
After you flash the stock ROM, you will boot loop. When you get the loop, boot into recovery and do a factory reset.

Couldn't he do a format of everything in recovery and then flash the stock rom via ODIN?
I've been wondering about this myself. I feel that I've flashed and downloaded so much there has to be space being taken up that I will never use and different folder structures and what not.
If that's the case, could I just use the format options in TWRP and then install the rom of my choice?
If you are on AT&T with an I-747, please ensure that whatever you flash is for the I-747 or d2att. It sounds like you are pretty new at this. A lot of people have hard bricked their phone flashing Galaxy S3 ROMs that are not specifically for their device. Take the time to read up on here before you do anything. Let us know if you have questions before you dive in.
This has become quite infuriating.
I was on The Hybrid 1.3 when by phone was randombly freezing. I needed to pull the battery to reset it. This caused ALL of my apps to lose their data. (Facebook was logged out, netflix was logged out, Titanium backup lost its direction to the folder on my SD card)
I thought this was odd, so I downloaded another ROM to try and fix the problem. I downloaded the new rom and went into recovery. Flashed new rom, cleared cache, cleared dalvik, but then as I tried to do a factory reset in CWM my phone resets and comes back to recovery. This happens every single time I try to do it in CWM.
ROM booted fine but has many wierd problems (probably that go with being unable to factory reset)
So i downloaded TWRP and tried flashing that by odin, only to get an unfixable bootloop.
So odin'd back to CWM, factory reset problem still persists.
So at this point I decided to go back to stock and turn this phone in because there is no reason it should be doing this.
And now my frustration about trying to get back to the stock ROM. WHY THE HELL IS THERE NOT AN ODIN FLASHABLE STOCK ROM?! Or any rom for that matter.
In CWM i have to put all .zips on my external SD, because the internal one REFUSES to mount.
The .zip from HERE is not working for me at all. I try to flash it and it says it completes in about a second. I reboot and it just stays at the samsung screen and never goes any further.
I remember back with my Captivate, if anything went wrong as long as you got back into download mode, you could one click odin your way back to normal and start all over. It's like every thread in this devices forum is purposefully vague and confusing, things are not explained well at all and people talk about mysterious version of files and things without ever actually providing a link.
This is becoming a real pain in the ass to try and get my phone back to stock or even useable again. Does anyone have any ideas?
I just tried looking for you and wow, i didn't realize that we really don't have a flashable ODIN stock rom....

We do have ODIN flashable stock firmware...(stock rom, kernel, modem, recovery). go the Android DEV forum.. STICKY "One Stop Shop for Note2". In there you'll find everything you need. Look under section 5 "FIRMWARE". You can also go to SamMobile.com website... under "Firmware", and in the search box, type "I317". The downloads are "zip", but those are not flashable zip... download that file and use 7-ZIP to extract the tar (xxxxxx.tar.md5"). Use that tar in Odin. Follow instructions in sticky for how to load file/use Odin if not familiar.
I purchased a used sph-d710 off of ebay and it was rooted and flashed for virgin mobile. Furthermore it has a lock pattern. So I was able to download the stock rom and remove root now the boot screen shows sprint but some how when It finishes booting it still shows the old rom and the lock pattern... how can I just wipe this phone clean and make it like the day it was taken out of the factory package?
I thought that was what I did when I used odin to load the stock ROM but apparently not... is there is a way to remove odin and go back to the stock rom?
Thanks!
Odin is the software that is used to go back to a stock ROM by using tar files. Its not a ROM. Use the full restore Odin one-click. http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...0VMUB)/Stock ROMs/JB/GB28/Full Restore/Rooted
Tutorials on how to use one-click are on the same site.

Message me and I can help. ([email protected]). You could send me the phone and I can install the stock system back on it, and no need to re-activate it either.
I have flashed the boot stock recovery tar file for my Sprint sph-l900 and it says pass in odin. Then the samsung emblem comes up like its going to boot and then goes black. It wont show its charging while plugged in to charger. But if I take the battery out and hold on, home, and up buttons it will go into stock recovery. So I know that it loaded that at least. Because obviously my TWRP recovery is gone. But I don't understand why its not loading I have done this before and no the steps to take but it is not rebooting properly! I don't know if my only option left is to use ADB side load but if that is the case I do not have the faintest idea on how that is accomplished and done correctly. I woke up this morning and my phone was stuck on the boot screen of the parinoid android rom I had installed that has been working for a good while now. I installed an app to help optimize the system yesterday for better performance and it was an app for rooted phones and it had good reviews so I wasn't worried. I made sure that in the options in the app that the system files and other files that I new could not be touched by the app actions I made sure they were white listed so they would not be effected. That is the only thing that I think could have done this to my phone. And when I realized I could not recover to any nandroid backups I had, that's when I decided to just reinstall the boot recovery stock rar file but not before I wiped the correct files to get a clean install (Flash) Any way that is where I'm at and I do not know what to do...... So could any body please help PLEASE!!!!!!

Basically your problem is the rom is incompatible with your current boot loader. You'll need to ODIN back to stock rooted MC2 then ODIN a custom recovery then modem. From there flash the rom you want. I'm not sure why you went back to stock recovery with the custom rom but it's not compatible. Or else you need to make sure the md5 is correct for the rom & other files you flashed. I'd just do what I first suggested and make sureyou have a good md5 for ythe rom you want before flashing it. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply!

I don't know about that because it was already mk4 before I ever rooted it and putt the rom on and I have already had to use the same recovery stock rar file two other times to get it back to original stock. And I haven't changed the mk4 since stock not even with the root or the rom Ive installed so it doesn't make sense especially when I have done this twice with the same rar file flashed with odin and always had good result never got stuck from not booting all the way. But so far your the only person all day i have had any advice from and you are a senior member who im sure knows what they are talking about so i guess I will have to find out how to revert from mk4 that Ive never changed to a MC2 and hope that that will do something for me im just baffled that the same thing that Ive done 2 other times wont work again....
Thanks again for the reply any other advice along the way or what ever you feel like adding is more than welcome i really appreciate you now im gonna be on the hunt for this MC2 install and what is the best steps to follow and go on....

No I had TWRP recovery but when i realized there was no getting to flash the rom nandroid BU I went ahead and did a factory wipe and all the files your suppossed to wipe and then I used odin like I have many times before and flashed the same recovery stock rar I have used before to go back to stock and start fresh any way this time odin said pass as usu-wall and then it acted as though it were going to boot and then it lit up the silver samsung emblem for a hot sec and then went black and stayed black after that even when i plugged the charger in the led light would not even show it was charging. But if I take the battery out and back in while its plugged in to charger the screen comes on with the little green battery icon and shows it charging. if i push pwr it show samsung icon then goes dead. Now if I push all the button for recovery it will boot back to stock android recovery. and i can upload one of the backups which was my last rom but it of course act as if it will load and then fails which i know is because i dont have the custom recovery any more but it didnt work either when I did and i don't know man im baffled...
The only suggestion Ive been given so far was from the senior member above and said i need to flash a earlier firmware than mk4 but that is weird to me since I have never had any thing installed on anything other than an mk4 but it make sense that it could work I just have not found the info that makes me feel confident about choices yet...
Thanks for replying any other thought please share!
Well sounds like the odin flash had some kind of issue even though it did not state one. Try going back into download mode and flash a custom recovery (twrp) then flash billards back to stock MC2. This will restore everything back even if you have the knox bootloader. Link is below for easy access. Two things twrp is recommended and do a factory reset before installing. After install reboot (apply su when asked if you want it) the phone will reboot display a messed up screen then reboot once again (normal dont worry). After that you can flash your custom recovery via odin and you should not have any more issues.

Let me know if that works for you.
So I found the write far file for mk4 and it flashed beautifully I tried a flash of the Mc2 in the reply from earleier post but it did not pass in Odin but I really expected that because I was pausitive that there was another mk4 rar that would work. And now I'm back to a fresh stock rom and I have all the flash file I need to get it rooted and custom romed in no time. I really do appreciate the help and suggestions it is nice to know there is help when needed! So thanks again and I got the file from TA TRUE ANDROID vpubmk4 firmware android 4.3 for the sprint sph-l900 I just had to do some hunting in order to find it. And it didn't help that my renters from the other side of the duplex were having their Internet fixed and the Tech accidently disconnected my lines out side so I was with out Internet for a long time and then when it was finally fixed I found this and flashed it no problems. Thanks again. If you don't mind I'm gonna send a friend request to you I don't have any friends or contacts in this forum and it would be nice to have another person to occasionally check in with? Ya know any way take my brother and stay cool......

For the record (since people seem to still be having issues) you CANNOT DOWNGRADE THROUGH ODIN WITH THE NEW BOOTLOADER!!! You can however downgrade through (custom?) RECOVERY using the previously mentioned method.
